Said Frye: "I have a lot of expectations I want to fulfill and I think sometimes I kind of psych myself out. If I got down on myself now, I think that would be really immature."

Including Minnesota summer league, Frye has seven games to improve. The Knicks face the Nets tonight.

"After he leaves here, we'll be hooked at the hip and you'll see," Aguirre said. "Once I get him over an extended period of time, you'll see."

Referring to Frye's struggles in his summer league play.

He had 16 pts and 10 fouls last nite.

I believe I read he goes after each shot and is just a fouling machine.

Its a skill set to let some shots go and he will learn it!

If the kid has his head on straight, and I believe he does, he will work very hard and be an NBA player.

Nalod i agree with you, he is smart enough to not get psyched out by media reports. Aguirre will have this kid ready by the start of the season.

I like what they both said. Its very promising. Aguirre seems so sure that he can teach Frye, and Frye seems very willing to learn. I'm excited.

Actually, his first triple double. I believe he had 16pts, 11rbds, 10 fouls... and he was going for a quadruple double--- 6 TOs. At least he was deeply involved in the game. :)

I think Channing Frye will be exciting as a player! I cant wait for 18 minutes 6 pts, 3 rbds, and one block. Yay! What a major contribution.

There is always one downer with Frye, it seems. But I don't care, he is a kid learning and yesterday he could've made a step in the right direction. He was definitely looking to grab every rebound, looking at the rebounds and the fouls. He was trying his best yesterday, and that is great because if Aguirre can help him fix those problems, FRye could really be a very good big man down the road. Im happy he had a nice game...

I don't think SL performances means all that much. If there is anything that concerns me about Frye it's how high his ceiling is in terms of athleticism.

Merely averaging a double double is not enough for a player that Isiah has publicly stated he would pick first overall.

Frye will be a hell of a player by midseason. He is like a car that needs timing adjustment....That is why he needs to play as many games as possible with NBA type of players to get his game where it needs to be. It would be behooved the organization to have him run with the team as early as possible to develop a sense for eachothers game. Marb needs to be in the back court with all of the other guys. for the Knicks to resemble a real squad next season, they need to start playing together as soon as SL ends

who cares what he said post draft. Before the draft he said he ranked the big men as "Bogut, Frye, Bynum" in that order. It's quite clear he was just flattering his player post-draft otherwise the pre-draft comment makes no sense.

He's adjusting to the summer league style game, which is very different from the NBA game.

In summer league ball, those 6'8" post-up beasts are kings (See Beasley, Sweetney, Randolph)... Lonny Baxter (Maryland) absolutely dominated the summer league circuit a few years back and I thought he'd be another Brand. Bzzzzt. Not so much.

I agree diderotn... he just needs to get his timing down and get used to the NBA game. Few rookies are savants--- ready to contribute from day 1. Many are able to do bigger and better things by the mid season.

Frye has the whole package--- it'll be a matter of time before it all comes together. To start out the season, the Knicks should focus on building his confidence through playing to his strengths--- his ability to draw fouls on offense.

I disagree with y'all that want him to focus on defense/rebounding/shot blocking. This seems to be a weaker part of his NBA game right now (he gives the effort of a 15mpg player and challenges everything--- and gets fouls called on him like a a 15mpg player too).

Just get him to pace himself on defense and keep him on the floor... he'll do better rebounding by just being in the flow of the game.

I care. Words have meaning, and accountability for any particular GM matters. Otherwise, he should STFU. I don't need to be spun by Isiah.
