let's see...

- trade was leaked before completion.
- big hooplah over the back issue
- waited to see who was their at #21 before consumating the deal.

is it possible the whole back issue came up so that if neither hodge or nate were available, the deal would fall apart and isiah would escape unscathed b/c the injury excuse?

was the trade leaked to guage fan reaction to the move?

was Q brought in STRICTLY to be a chip? have other GM's told isiah that if you get a SG/SF, then maybe they can make a larger scale deal?

somebody i know pointed out the following: isn't it curious that grunfeld would lose hughes without ANY type of compensation? has there been discussions between him and isiah already?

all of this is strictly speculation but there are some signs that Q is just another chip to be moved later, especially with the drafting of nate as well.

To be honest, I think anything is possible at this point. Isiah is collecting young talent at this point and I'm sure listening to offers from everyone about everyone.
And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

I think the Q trade made JC a trade chip. I think IT thinks that he has a better chance at making Q a complete player than JC. (How the hell do I know what IT thinks anyway?)

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Q can't be moved for a while. If he was brought in strictly to be traded, Isiah would have moved him within 48 hours of receiving him. Since he didn't do that, Q is a Knick until I believe Dec 15...

Now, I'm not saying he isn't going to be traded. If Marbury, Crawford, and Nate are all playing great, Q may be pawned off midseason for a big man. I don't think, however, that Isiah is deadset on trading him by any means. I think he sees him as a talent upgrade and younger which gives us more flexibility in the future -- I look at it as stockpiling assets.

There is no way Q is going to the Wizards for Kwame. Apparentley they have 7 offers for him already -- the wizards don't want him back and would not keep him until dec 15th just so they can trade for Q midseason. There are way too many things that can happen between that time which is why Grunfeld nor Isiah would agree to it.

Now a Crawford for Kwame deal isn't out of the question but we better be getting something else back like a future #1 or Jefferies.

I think the only trade that really makes sense if we are going to be getting Kwame is Sweets and Rose for Kwame.

"if the player cannot be traded due to a trade restriction they can be included in a deal as long as they are not combined with other players."

Q's deal: $6.3, 6.9, 7.4, 8.12, 8.7 for a total of $37.5

that sounds about right for kwame and he would fit well in that system. what 7 offers could they get that's better from a pure SG? the childress deal gives them another SF, not SG.

crawford is not going anywhere - trust me. he was brought in to take over for h20 when he was done - that process just sped up a bit.

they need a SG more than anything. they can always play jamison at the PF, giving them twan, haywood, etan, blatche, ruffin.

sweets, they would like, but i think they'd rather have a SG at this point in time.

Honestly, I think Ernie G just screwed up with Larry Hughes. A lot of Wizards fans are saying that he lowballed Hughes with the first offer so after the Cavs started to negotiate with Larry and basically gave him what he wanted, he didn't even give the Wizards a chance to match that offer. So it looks like Larry didn't want to go back to Washington after what happened and that gave Ernie nothing to work with in terms of getting compensation since Larry was an unrestricted FA.

As for Quentin, I think Isiah like the people posting here, realized that Kurt wasn't going to take us anywhere and he was able to get a good starting shooting guard so that Crawford could come off the bench which is probably what he is best at right now. Could it be much more than that? Could Isiah have gotten Richardson just to stockpile talent for a bigger move? I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not sure that is the case though.

I think in the current AND future plans of the Knicks, JC or Marbury will be here, but not both. Not sure they can coexist on the floor at the same time, and JC plays far better at the point then at the 2.

Keep Marbury, trade Craw

OR

Keep Craw, trade Marbury

When, to where, and how I can't say.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.
maybe Q will get traded...
