let's see...
- trade was leaked before completion.
- big hooplah over the back issue
- waited to see who was their at #21 before consumating the deal.
is it possible the whole back issue came up so that if neither hodge or nate were available, the deal would fall apart and isiah would escape unscathed b/c the injury excuse?
was the trade leaked to guage fan reaction to the move?
was Q brought in STRICTLY to be a chip? have other GM's told isiah that if you get a SG/SF, then maybe they can make a larger scale deal?
somebody i know pointed out the following: isn't it curious that grunfeld would lose hughes without ANY type of compensation? has there been discussions between him and isiah already?
all of this is strictly speculation but there are some signs that Q is just another chip to be moved later, especially with the drafting of nate as well.
Honestly, I think Ernie G just screwed up with Larry Hughes. A lot of Wizards fans are saying that he lowballed Hughes with the first offer so after the Cavs started to negotiate with Larry and basically gave him what he wanted, he didn't even give the Wizards a chance to match that offer. So it looks like Larry didn't want to go back to Washington after what happened and that gave Ernie nothing to work with in terms of getting compensation since Larry was an unrestricted FA.
As for Quentin, I think Isiah like the people posting here, realized that Kurt wasn't going to take us anywhere and he was able to get a good starting shooting guard so that Crawford could come off the bench which is probably what he is best at right now. Could it be much more than that? Could Isiah have gotten Richardson just to stockpile talent for a bigger move? I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not sure that is the case though.
