For those who have seen these recen games. Please, tell here your thoughts and opinions about him. Is he a good rebounder? Can he block shots? Can he score inside?
Plase, any info is welcome.
I'm interested in this guy. Maybe he can be useful.

Jackie is a banger. He looks very strong, with decent post moves, and a bit of a nasty streak, but not terribly quick or athletic, which limits his defense, shotblocking and rebounding. He also isn't quite as tall as I thought.

There's been a lot of hype on this board about him being a "free first-round pick" or the "Knick's Ben Wallace" story. This is all overblown imo. If I were to pick a pro whose game his reminds me of, it would be Massenburg.

If Jackie works hard, keeps improving, and has the right attitude, he may last in the league for a number of years. I don't foresee him ever being a starter, however. Best case, imo, he'll be fighting for regular minutes in his team's rotation while serving as a good insurance policy in case someone ahead of him gets injured.

A lot of people on this board have been high on Jackie Butler, even more so since they saw him play last night in the Vegas League. I don't know what they are seeing in him!

To me, he looked slow and poorly skilled with NO MOVES. Did anyone see him trying to back down in the post? (Against PJ Ramos I think.) It was all elbow. On top of that, Butler's arms look woefully underdeveloped. There is no one on the team that he can legitimately steal minutes from in a game we are trying to win. I don't think he is really worth using garbage-time minutes for development. We can probably pick a big man who is much better than him before he's ready to contribute at the NBA level.

If Jackie Butler is getting minutes then we are TERRIBLE. I predict he won't be on the team by mid-season or at the very best injury list fodder.

Positives: He seems to have a decent touch. (He won't be able to get his shot off in real games.) He does seem to have a large ass.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I saw Massenburg play in the Knick's summer league in the Mid 90's. He was pretty dominant, and way more athletic than Butler. There was no doubt that he would be in the NBA. He has become a much better player since then.

All I have realy seen in Butler is that he is big and his hands are pretty good. I liken him to Shawnelle Scott, except probably not that good.

Butler has a slightly larger finger span than Scott which allows him to grip the ball firmer which makes it harder to swipe...who the hell is Shawnelle Scott?
And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

Shawnelle Scott, also known as Nellie was a good center at St. Johns in the early 90's. He was very good as a freshman, but he didn't improve as much as I had hoped during his career. Great hands, nice shot, big...just not an athletic player. He was slow and he couldn't jump. Thinking back now he was much better then than Butler is now...and he probably still is. Not a good sign for JB.

For Jackie to be an effective player, we have to get rid of at least 2 of our PFs. Malik and Mo....

Shawnelle Scott was one of my favorite players but he failed to get better. He's getting old now.

Jackie Butler is 19 and he seems to want to create the banging down low. He's a bully. I love him already. His post game is limited though but he is strong. I wouldn't mind seeing him play spot minutes and at the very least take up Sundov's spot on the roster.

On a side note:

oohah......do you know anything about lambda Alpha Upsilon? Just asking.
