tim, sweets, lee, + future #1
in a mega sign and trade for dalembert and mckie

and give dalembert - $11 mil/year for 6 years

is that too much? hell yeah but if you're going to overpay, give it to a guy that blocks 3 shots a game and held his own vs. detroit.

Penny, Sweets, + #1, for Dalembert + Mashburn.

That evens it out a little better. If they insist on Tim, I give em Tim, but DJ, relax a little, take a breather, you can't just mortgage your future on a guy like Dalembert, there is still risk involved. You aren't giving all of that up because of what he does now, you are hoping he develops. You can't make a trade giving cap relief and a young prospect AND 2 number 1's for a player who may not get significantly better.

haha

yup, there is risk but dalembert has already proven, over the length of an entire season, that he can bring it. and he proved it in the playoffs again. he's so young, but it's all there. even if he didn't improve ONE BIT, he's still grabbing 10 boards and blocking 2.5+ shots - that's EXACTLY what we need.

it's just, after reading all these swift, hunter, james posts, i'm like "why are we toiling around with that stuff and not going after the big cheese".

yep, I give up Penny...NOT TT...if they want an expiring contract, it's penny or take a hike.

Now, penny and sweets is good enough for dalembart...but I think we should play a little hard ball with them and offer penny and JYD.

Why give up any of our youngins? We have a core, we're supposedly rebuilding, let's effing rebuild.

Whoa, easy there. He is 8.2 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 1.6 bpg last year. Thats decent not phenomenal. He played really good in the playoffs, he had double double avg and played tough. I like him alot too and he is obviously thee best young, big out there and the only one I would overpay for. So I understand totally.

Penny Sweets + #1 for Dalembert and Mashburn should do it. No one else can or is willing clear space off their cap like that.

We need another scenario for Dalembert, come on guys think. I think Philly isn't trading him no matter what, because they see what we see. I think thats why it is being said that Isiah isn't looking at him because he knows he can't get him. He must've spoken to someone and gotten shut down.

But he just needs to try harder, there has to be a deal they would consider right?!?!?!?!?!?

Why on EARTH would Philly give up a young 6-11 250lb guy for cap relief? They're screwed with Webber and Iverson anyway. They have to keep Dalembert if they want to show any shred of being contenders.

There's no way Philly trades Dalembert.

Dalembert & Brand would be a great frontcourt. All the bases covered and championship calibur.

dude, seriously, it's getting a little old. why don't you sit back and watch him play for a little while and form your opinion based on that? because it's not going to be fun for you if he's a great player, green busts and we make fun of you for the rest of your life.

but Channing will never be as good as arguably the 3rd best PF in the game so I'm not that worried about it lol

Why are you guys so crazy to overpay players to come to N.Y??? Take the good options before overpaying anyone. Dalembert is good, but he is not worth no more than the MLE....James/Gadz and Hunter can give us the same exact thing that we are so willing to overpay Dalembert for.

This was encouraging:
Thomas has already met with Memphis free agent power forward Stromile Swift and has expressed interest in Philadelphia free agent Samuel Dalembert. Either player would satisfy Thomas' hopes of adding an athletic, long body to the front line. Seattle's Jerome James and Washington's Kwame Brown are two free-agent centers who fall under the girth category.

Thomas, the Knicks president, is leaving town this morning, presumably to meet with free agents. The Knicks have their $5.1 million mid-level exception to offer free agents. It will be difficult for Thomas to acquire Swift, Dalembert or Brown unless he can orchestrate a sign-and-trade.

I think I am conservative in saying we have no shot at Dalembert.

Something like TT + Sweetney + both 2006 #1s for Dalembert starting at $9mm per, Kevin Ollie and Aaron McKie. It gives Phili a small amount of flexibility moving forward.

That being said I think Cle, Atl or someone else offers him close to max $$$, he's worth it
