This kid is going to be the steal of the draft, yes its only summer league but he is unbelievably quick, its to bad that Houston isn’t healthy because breaking down the defense to quick to him and Q the Knicks would be unguardable…..

He looks like he may have one of the quicker first steps in the league, and judging by the jumpstop over Dwight Howard his height isn’t going to be a problem on the offensive end…..

He actually makes you want to watch summer league.

Its too bad that Ariza hasn’t shown any dedication to improving his game or his body, if we can just get these overpriced millionaires Frye, Crawford, Sweetney into the gym this team might really have something……

I liked his offense and his aggressiveness w/ the ball. But his D worried me. He didn't seem very good at fighting over on the ball screens. Jameer got pretty much whatever shot he wanted.

we can't get rid of craw or marbs just yet...I see nate getting posted up by big guards (much like they say craw does now), but I see him sparking the second unit BIG TIME...

I pissed the msg telecast went longer than 2 hours (time warner DVR missed the dunk that didn't count), but frye had 6 boards at that time...not too shabby.

Nate, Frye and Lee are SOLID draft picks...I don't know of any other team that came out of the draft with two solid picks.

Forget Nate's 24 points... Did anyone else notice how Nate Rob interacted with his team mates on the bench?

Did anyone notice his intense reaction after missing ONE free throw?

Did anyone notice his leadership down the stretch of a Summer League game played among total strangers?

No, I'm not suggesting a demotion or trade of Marbury.... I AM however suggesting that this new core of yoots injects a "whatever it takes" playing personality based on college-grade enthusiasm, hunger and selflessness.

That type of thing can be contagious.

well, the thing is with nate is you can see there's a swagger and air of confidence about him that teammates gravitate to. he's going all out on both ends and when the littlest guy on the floor does that, it spreads around. hopefully, if nate can get 15 mins, then marbury can really push on both ends for his 32 mins.

djsunyc - what about the NYK fans?

... what do you think The Garden will sound like the first time Nate takes off after a steal and dunks with two hands?

.. the first time he dives head-first into celebrity row after a loose ball?

what will the reaction be?

no doubt - he will be THE garden favorite. there's nothing he can do the fans would be upset about. he will be the 2nd best selling jersey behind marbury in nyc.

I think that Nate robinson is the first guy in quite a while in the "Tiny Guy" club of 5'9" and unders that nobody questions his physical ability to play amongst the giants.

His driving ability is nothing short of amazing. If he is a good shooter or becomes an excellent shooter he will be better than Boykins and has the potential to reach Calvin Murphy's status.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

for once, I am comfortable with marbs taking a breather in the first half.

Forget all that did you see the alley oop to himself off the backboard.

He has great hops. There were a couple of bad passes thrown to him that looke like it was going to be a TO but he skyed in the air for all of them.

He could play a Ben Gordan role of us.

Again SL is not a true barometer of how players will do in the "big show" as we all know, but it does give us a hint of what might be in the future. which is excitement that has been gone from the Garden for a while now. When Marbs was traded to us it had been a long time since NY fans had been that amped up about the Knicks leading up to his first game (the game itself, not so good).

I think what these SL games show is that all three picks bring something to the table we were lacking and needed. Leadership, mental toughness and most of all exciting play. If the rooks can help bring this to the team I believe the watchability factor just went way up. The Knicks seemed to lack fire and enthusiam at times especially when Marbs was out. I know it takes time for teams to jell and leaders to step up but i predict it won't be long before Nate steps into that role whether he plays a lot or not. His tough play and enthusiasm for the game will make both the fans and his teammates take notice.

I'm excited about the upcoming season (as with all upcoming seasons)and I'm anxious to see what other pieces Isiah puts in place. I see a plan formulating and it's going to be an interesting summer as to what's next I hope Isiah continues to turn the heat up.

Nate is going to be a special player. I could see him having a Ben Gordon type rookie season.

yea... Briggs talked about his PG skills getting better but he really is more a 2. He does attack on defense and pressure the ball. He's also tough as nails. Wash has a major football program and thats where his scholorship was. With Ariza and Q able to play the 3 and both being excellent rebounders I think we can afford to go small at times with Craw/Marbury/Nate playing the majority of the minutes at 1/2. From a scoring perspective its a nightmare and is going to force a lot zone defense. We just need to be able to shoot through it... introducing Channing.

I want to see how other teams approach guarding this line up:

Marbury
Nate
Q
Sweetney
Channing

With Frye's ability to step out and Q's ability to abuse guys in the paint we will have a huge mismatch everytime down the floor.

That's why I'm thinking the Kwame for Craw thing might end up happening...
