that is one name that will no longer be part of our list. Brown already made it clear that he wants to go back to Detroit, so Herb and Laimbeer will now be the names that we will hear about until October.

I don't think Herb is part of that equation. Isiah has referred to Herb in the past tense. I think he has settle on either Brown, Dirty Bill, or possibly hiimself.

Some of Laimbeer's qualifications/accomplishments:
Led the Detroit Shock to the WNBA title in 2003. (regular season 25-9)
Won coach of the year (2003).
Barely made the playoffs last year, with a 17-17 record (injuries)...

I don't know if this is the right time to axe Herb.

I agree...unless herb is intent on benching Ariza and not playing sweetney, he deserves a training camp...deja vu...I was saying the same thing about the last coach...I can't even remember his name...

Gotta love livin in the knick universe.

If this is not what the Knicks need, I don't know anymore....

Laimbeer was named head coach of the Detroit Shock June 19th, 10 games into the 2002 WNBA season. Laimbeer, the third head coach in the Shock’s six-year history, inherited an 0-10 team and guided the them to a strong 8-7 finish to close out the 2002 WNBA campaign. Detroit improved in many statistical categories due to Laimbeer’s hard-nosed approach and uncanny ability to gain the instant respect of his players. After taking the helm, the Shock’s rebounding average improved from 27.8 rpg to 36.4.rgp and their point production jumped from 64.4 ppg to 66.8 ppg. Detroit also took more high percentage shots as their three-point attempts went down from 17.4 to 8.6 per game. Laimbeer also pushed the team to play more aggressive on the offensive end, improving free throw opportunities to 22.2 attempts per game in their last 22 games compared to 16.3 in their first 10 contests. Laimbeer oversees Detroit’s basketball staff, its roster development and all player acquisitions, while also coaching the team on the floor. Laimbeer joined the Shock prior to the ’02 season as a special consultant, assisting the Shock organization in marketing and ticket sales, as well as providing an experienced sounding board for the coaching staff. As a recognized name in the Detroit area, Laimbeer provides instant credibility to every Shock initiative, on and off the court. He brings hands-on NBA experience, from both a basketball and a business perspective.

Exactly, Herb is not a winner. On the other hand, Laimbeer has been successful with everything that he has done. As a player and as a coach...

You can't judge a coach by what he has done as a player. Check out Pat Riley's stats. He wasn't very good. A role player at best.

Check out Phil Jackson's stats. He was also a role player.

Gotta give Herb time. He is a NY Knick. Gotta give your own a chance first before giving a bad boy a chance.

I am down with whomever will give the Knicks a better chance at winning a championship. As for Riley and Phil, they may not have been great players, but they have both helped their teams win a couple of championships
