I take this as a very good sign:

Thomas also continues to troll the free agent market, where one new name has emerged in his quest for a big man: Phoenix backup center Steven Hunter, a still-raw 7-footer who fits Thomas' mold for athletic big men but showed little until this season after three years with Orlando.

Hunter's agent, Mark Bartelstein, also acknowledged Tuesday that the Knicks have asked about Antoine Walker, a longtime Thomas favorite. He almost certainly would require a sign-and-trade deal to be procured (a daunting task considering division-rival Boston would be the trading partner), but Hunter is affordable via all or a portion of the $5.1 million salary-cap exception the Knicks can spend.

Hey! that is what I am talking about....Isiah is a very shrewd man, he knows what he is doing....That is who I want in N.Y...Hunter or Gadzurick will do just fine with the players we have on our roster.

I think Hunter is the perfect backup to Frye. I still think this roster needs a starting caliber Power Forward. I would rather have Kwame Brown than Sweetney or Antoine Walker.

If we can get Kwame and Hunter this summer, I think that's a very good core that allows us to see if Marbury can work with this team. Kwame and Hunter are both solid defenders who would benefit from Marbury running the offense.

The other direction to go is a more drastic rebuilding that features trading Marbury for either a Dalembert type. Even then I think Hunter makes sense as a backup. But if the Knicks can swing Kwame and Hunter, I think keeping Marbury makes a lot of sense.

I feel very VERY bad everytime I hear the words Knicks and Walker on the same sentence.
But it's good to hear he is interested in Hunter.

Zeke apparently didn't read my cautionary tale. Anyway if he makes an offer, I hope its for less than 3 mil per.

I hope that Joe Johnson ask for a lot more than what Phoenix is offering because they will try to use some of that money to re-sign Hunter.

3 millions will get us Hunter for sure, especially given the fact that he knows that he may be a starter. I want both Hunter and Gadzurick

Zeke can't stop calling Stephen Hunter! He's got him on speed dial! From the post:

Isiah Thomas has had several conversations with center Stephen Hunter's agent, Mark Bartlestein. Hunter will be the easiest center catch because he can assuredly be had for the $5 million mid-level exception. Getting a sign-and-trade deal with Kwame Brown or Stromile Swift is the priority, however. Antoine Walker is also on the radar but they'd need a sign-and-trade with Boston.

wholeheartedly agree until we improve the frontcourt we won't be very good. just adding Hunter doesn't cut it. I think Kwame will be a Knick
