Scott Layden might actually be chosen to hold a job (assistant coach for the Jazz) with another NBA franchise after he butchered the Knicks present and future.
Scott Layden, who helped turn the Jazz from small-market laughingstock to title contender by drafting John Stockton and Karl Malone, may be returning to Utah.
Layden, out of the NBA since being fired as president of the Knicks 18 months ago, is the leading candidate, for an assistant coaching job with the team he once directed, The Tribune has learned.

GOOD LUCK UTAH JAZZ.

ROFLMAO!! This is really funny. The Jazz are smart and made him an assistant coach instead of a GM. I cannot imagine another NBA team considering him as a GM after what he did to the Knicks. I really dislike that guy.

C'mon man - give Layden a little more credit than that.

He's gonna hold out for Houston.

man, we never should have waived Shandon Anderson. How valuable would that be right now?

I was thinking the same! But then I read is as an assistant and... oh well... Maybe we will get easier wins against them after this...

Good, then I don't have to listen to his half-azz commentary on NBA TV. He was made for friggin' Utah, let him stay there.

We can offer him H20 for AK47... He'd prolly like that deal.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I recall that hearing around the league Layden has some respect as a second-tier scout. I think what happened in NY was just that he was in so far over his head he couldn't think straight anymore. I guess the only move I like was drafting Sweets. I can't remember Layden's role in us getting Deke, but I love Deke so props for that if he did it. Other than that, man I'd rather not think about it.

That home game against Utah just got a lot more interesting.

Will it be "Fire Layden" chants or will they get more creative?

isn't it ironic that he ended up going back to Utah. he was infamous for his Utah "connects".

i feel for the guy when Utah comes to the Garden

we can bash layden all we want, but he was responsible for drafting stockton and malone with mid-round picks and his last draft with the Jazz was ANDREI KIRLIENKO. I think he was a behind the scenes guy for a small franchise, he wasnt NY material, and who knows who really made decisions here and based on what?? bottom line is he put together a tremendous team that lasted 15 years and went deep into the playoffs with a lot of winning every year. 90% of GMs cant say that.

Briggs, I think your points are valid but when it comes to Layden i throw validity out the window and go with emotion and I CAN'T STAND THE LITTLE NERD FOR WHAT HE DID TO THIS FRANCHISE!!!!!

Exactly! I dont care who is responsible for drafting for a different team. I especially dont care if that team lasted for 15 years. He fuked up my team and ruined 5 seasons. He traded for Shandon and Eisley and signed Fat Spoon. He set us back almost 10 years because of his retarded moves. He was the worst GM the Knicks have ever had, thats all I need to bash him.

Briggs,

what Layden did in Utah has nothing to do with what he did in New York. we hate Layden and we don't know the man, so what does that tell you. He gets nothing here---no benefit of the doubt---nothing.

I think the decision to draft Stockton and Malone involved more than Layden's input, but nonetheless, he traded Camby and the pick that was used to draft Nene for an injured player. There had to be other offers that he turned down, even if Dolan pressured him into making some kind of deal. It was one of the worst trades in NBA history. For that, he deserves are derision and contempt...for life!
