I mentioned this a few days ago on another thread, but it got buried, so I'll bring it up again. Another player the Knicks should possibly consider is Eddie Griffin, who is an unresitrcted FA. I'm serious. I know he spurned the Knicks a couple of years ago and carries a serious amount of baggage, but he seemed to turn himself around in Minnesota last year and is an excellent shotblocker. At 6'10 240 he's a little small, but not much smaller than some of the other players we are considering. In fact he's bigger than Swift.

His stats per 48 mins are impressive...
17 pts, 14.6 rebs and 3.8 blocks

He ranked 13th in the league in rebounds per 48 and 7th in blocks per 48 (15th overall).

Those stats obviously don't tell the story, but here's a guy who was very productive last year after falling off the map, and a player we all know is very talented and skilled. He's seemingly built himself up to be big enough to handle the center position. Is he really over his problems? Who knows? A name to consider at least for part of the MLE. I think splitting hit between him and Pachulia could be an effective, and realistic way of adding some size to our frontcourt.

yeah, I like Eddie. But I don't think Zeke will sign him. Remember the whole "four monthes ago, we couldn't even get a punk like Eddie Griffin to give us the time of day, now Kobe and Walker are on my jock. take that, Eddie Griffin."

LOL, I remember something like that. Yeah, I doubt Isiah considers him...

I can understand Isiah not wanting him b/c of the fact that he spurned the Knicks before...I mentioned that in the topic starter. But sometimes you have to swallow your pride to get talent. The circumstances now are different. We're talking a guy who is in a better mental state now then he was before, a Knicks team with a better looking future, and millions of dollars and a multiyear deal vs. a league min salary for the rest of the season.

I agree he may be the most talented PF out there in free agency. But he is a headcase and Zeke has been known to hold grudges. I'd like it, but we'll see if it happens.

Eddie might sign here- things are different, this is a rebuilding team with youth and he might get more playing time here than in minnesota- doubt this though.

Does he get resigned for a full MLE price?
