Post - There are strong indications that Seattle super-agent Aaron Goodwin is concerned with the new Knicks' backcourt glut that leaves his client Jamal Crawford in a precarious spot.

There are appearances Goodwin is eager to see point guard Stephon Marbury traded.

Goodwin, who is a friend Isiah Thomas, is the agent for Seattle native Crawford and the Knicks first-round pick, Washington 5-foot-9 point guard Nate Robinson.

Thomas said in April that Marbury was not untouchable. An anonymous agent was quoted yesterday said he thinks the plan is to make Marbury available. [READ]

All of these are horrible.. no offense. Why are we so ready to give up Ariza. He's 19 and contributing, with great athleticism. He should be untouchable unless we can get a young big.

Rain u really think with those optional lineups that all those trades are that bad ?? Well u might me wrong, u might be right. Its not giving up on Ariza, its just that teams will want something realistic ! All those options are realistic trades !

Trade idea #1 : Marbury, Rose & Ariza to Seattle for Allen & James

Allen is too old and James garbage and old
Trade idea #2 : Marbury & Penny to Dallas for Dampier, J.Terry & KVH

This one isn't almost bad, but if you're trading Marbury, you're looking to get younger and under the cap- not sure you really accomplish either with this deal
Trade idea #3 : Marbury to the T-Wolves for Szczerbiak & Olowokandi

Again- you're trading Marbury & you're looking for Youth and Cap Flexibility. And I love Wally, but you're not getting anywhere near equal value.
Trade idea #4 : Marbury, Sweets, Ariza & a future #2nd rd pick to Memphis for Pau Gasol, Bonzi & Posey & future 1st rd pick

This one almost isn't bad- but Memphis is not looking to take on a deal like Marbs has.
Trade idea #5 : Marbury, Ariza & Sweets to the Lakers for Odom, George & Butler

Did you ever notice that Phil Jackson has never had a PG do anything but spot up and hit threes? Gary Payton hated it.

I think that's five times no.

Great analysis.

None of these trades make us a better team imo. Except maybe 5 and that is a big if, and like you said, Lakers never do it.

These deals fill some holes while creating others in our roster, and are somewhat lopsided (and not in our favor!)...
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Most of those trades still leave us in a logjam at guards. Maybe Goodwin would be happy to see Crawford starting, but we wouldn't be happy with the problems we would have later. And as it was stated in the analysis, we don't get younger nor we rid ourselves of our cap problems, so no, please!

What Goodwin may be failing to see is that Q will not be the starting Sg, but the starting SF. In some ways, this favors Crawford because he will see a lot of time at SG. I think the direction of the article was wrong, I think that if someone is on the block after acquiring Q is Tim Thomas, and since he is an expiring contract, his days in NY are numbered.

Please refresh my memory, why does everybody want Marbury traded?
He had his best season this year. Shot 46% from the field. He was fourth in the league with over 8 assist per game. Has 1,387 assist in 1 1/2 seasons with the knicks. Already Top 15 in Knicks History (4,791 Walt Frazier). I dont understand why would you want Crawford to be starting PG when he admitted himself that half the time he is clueless of what to do on the basketball court. And Im tired of hearing that Marbnury is selfish. If you watch most of the games in this season, you would see that Marbury had a pass first mentality, but players like Tim Thomas and Nazr wasnt getting it done. So Marbury, tried to carry the team. With the right pieces, Stephon will prove all the haters wrong and shine and show why he is one of the best PLAYERS in the WORLD.

I'm not dead set against Marbury or for Marbury.

But I can see why people have their doubts -

he's been in the league 9 Years and his team have never won a playoff
round.

Three teams have traded him (and been better with him gone).

He has had problems playing with a number of team mates.

All circumstantial evidence but it does make me wonder.

Why are you so sure he can lead a winning team?

at this point, I wouldn't hate the idea of trading Marbury, as long as it was a smart trade. I don't think any of these fit what this team needs.

One trade I've mentioned a few times that I'd do for Marbury is Corey Maggette and Chris Wilcox. Other than that, I have a hard time imagining what kind of package I'd want. Marbury for Artest?

for all the fair and unfair criticism towards marbury, i would like to see him, for once, work with a complementary roster. then we'll know if it's him or the cast he's surrounded with.

so far, everyone thinks it's him.

to me, the jury is still out.

i think we take for granted how easy the offensive side of the game is for him.

but i also think we fairly should be disgusted with his defensive effort.

let's see how he does it this year.

IF, IF he is traded, then that's a BALLSY move and isiah should get credit for making it.

and you know what, it's ok to mess up a move as long as the end result is for the best of the team.

No thanks to any of those trades. The Memphis one is good, but they need to cut Salary and taking on Marbury is doing anything but that. I also like the Laker one for us, b/c Odom is a kind of player we could really use, but look at it this way. The Lakers trade Shaq for Stephon Marbury, Trevor Ariza, Sweetney and Brian Grant. Would you do it if you were the Lakers?

If we surround Marbury with the right players we will be a playoff team. When Marbury was with his old teams he was immature. This past season, Marbury was trying to get his team more involved. When they didnt contribute, he had to do it himself. So get Marbury some players that can contribute and youll see why Marbury is one of the best in the world.
