Very interesting NY Times piece.
This week, a Western Conference team executive and a player agent each independently said that the Knicks wanted to move Marbury.

"There's a desire for that to happen," said the agent, who requested anonymity because he did not want to jeopardize future dealings with the Knicks.

There are no signs that Thomas has put any proposals on the table, but executives around the league say they will not be surprised if Marbury is offered in the weeks ahead.

A Marbury trade would truly shock me, especially if it were for unproven players like Briggs' trade proposal. We've seen these reports before about Marbury being offered. They're probably just looking for a story.

Lets wait to see the offer before we decide we let Marbs go or not.

Isiah isn't going to trade Marbury right now. He's going to first see what his current roster can do, plus a player like Brown or Swift. If things clearly aren't working out, then you look to see what you can get for Marbury.

One really has to wonder, because if you think about the roster we have, we could keep our three guards (Marb, Q, Craw) and start it in the backcourt, but if Isiah wanted a more traditional Small Forward, either Marbury or Crawford is the odd man out. Isiah loves Crawford and sees him as a future all star, so who knows. I do think that if we start TT at small forward and Ariza is the backup, it will be a very crowded guard rotation with Nate and Crawford both needing time...

TT is on his way out. And i think Q is as much a SF as he is SG.

I hope you are right ant its TT the one on his way out, especially if its on a trade for Brown. Or if not, at least in a Swift sign and trade. I just don't know how a playoff team like Washington would be interested in TT. On the other hand, Memphis looks to be in position to get an expiring contract like TT.

I disagree. If the Knicks are rebuilding, the plan is probably to cleanse yourself of basically all the losing that has happened the past couple of years, and completely start fresh, and if this is what Isiah is doing, then trading Marbury may very well happened. He has said a number of times now that nobody is untradable, and as we all know, Zeke has a tendency to send out these weird signals in weird ways. If anyone is untradable, it's probably the 4 guys he has drafted in the past 2 years. Zeke said the team is now rebuilding, and it appears that he's doing it completely.

And what do you mean by unproven players? You have to take risks like this, just like the risk the Suns took my trading Marbury. It's part of rebuilding. And it's sometimes nescessary to trade away the star players to create a balance.

A TT for Swift deal is a reasonable one i think that most can agree on. Now the problem is what happens with our PF situation that includes Swift, Sweetney, Lee, Rose, Taylor, and JYD?

Why is TT for Swift reasonable for the Griz? Swift is a free agent THIS SUMMER. He's off their books. TT wont come off their books until NEXT SUMMER, so why should they have to pay all that garbage for an extra year? It's kinda like how the Knicks pointlessly traded Moochie Norris for Mo Taylor.

the Knicks should trade Marbs for Telfair and Ratlif. What a kick in the junk that would be.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

The Grizz don't appear to be going after any major free agents this year. TT could come alive a little in Memphis and fill a need for them. Then his contract will expire and give them the same options they have this year. If we can pick him up for nothing then fine, but if Memphis wants something in return so we can pay Swift more than the mid level, TT is a reasonable offer.

realistically, we're several years away from being in a position to contend and make a serious run at a finals appearance.

Marbury is a great player- but, by the time we're ready to make a move, he is going to be much older- some of his best years behind him.

You do a favor to him if you trade him to a team that is looking to add one or two more pieces- eg, Dallas.

Its got be a deal that we can get back some real young talent & picks- otherwise, it will be hard to justify just dumping him.

Marbury is suddenly to old man here!

The Grizzlies are not getting any of the bigtime free-agents this year so I could see them doing a sign and trade that includes TT becuase they may want the cap room next year instead of having it this year.

Everyone is saying they're going to trade Pau because they are financially hurting- I don't see them adding TT's money- I think there is a min team salary that they must hit.

I could see them looking to dump brian cardinal-
