Teams are scrambling to offer this kid a lot of money as a shooter, but didn't anyone learn a lesson from the incident with Houston? I know the kid has a much better game than Houston, he is not a one dimentional type of guy at all with his 23/4/2, but is he worth that type of contract????

I think he's worth it to Milwaukee since it is difficult for small market teams to keep players as good as Redd--they will definitely be overpaying for Redd but that's the only way he'll stay.
And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

He is a more proven commodity than Houston was.

You are right, Houston is too one dimensional for the contract that he received...At least you know what you are getting from Redd, but Houston can't rebound, can't create for himself, and can't do anything else but shoot the ball...

A max contract for Redd won't be the same as a max for Houston was. Here are the differences.

1) Since he's younger, it will start at 10-11 million.
2) It can only go for 5 years (new collective bargaining agreement).
3) The rate of increase will be smaller (new collective bargaining agreement).
4) He will finish the agreement when he's 30 years old - not in his mid 30's.

So it's a smaller contract in every way for a younger and more well rounded ballplayer. It makes sense for the Bucks or for another team under the cap.

Redd's situation just proves you that in the draft you can find a great player anywhere. Same with Ginobili, Parker. That why its so important to have draft picks and good people making the scouting...
