I'm beginning to think this team needs an accurate and reliable outside shooter more than a 7 footer.

Last year when teams played zone against us, we were pretty helpless.

Q & Craw might repeat their 38% feild goal shooting, teams will collapse & zone us, Marbury and Nate would be unable to penetrate and there will be numerous heaves at the buzzer as Craw, Marb & Q all find the lanes clogged up.

Even if the 7 footer we get is an offensive threat (Brand, even though he's not 7ft), he'll be ineffective because there is no reason to guard Q or Craw of Marb on the perimeter.

So, if there is one player to add to the roster and your choice is a 7 footer or an outside shooter- which do you add? And I'm thinking folks like Damp or a Barry type talent.

I think we're actually gonna add two more big CF types. In other words, we're gonna trade some of our short PF's for longer CF's. I think we'll trade for one and use the MLE on another.

I'd add the 7 footer.

I think that Q and Craw will be more than enough for outside shots. Crawford needs to get off better shots, but he did a nice job at the end of last season. He can improve. Q is very good from the outside. He had to shot too many 3's with Phoenix, but here, he will shoot less, posting up more.

I think that the best way of improving out perimeter scoring comes exactly frok the post. We need a couple of guys that can bang up there in the low post and make the defense either double him or pay attention to him, freeing up a shooter in the outside. It depends on how well we pass, too.

While its unlikely that the 7 footer we bring will bring us low post scoring, I would still go with the 7 footer because, other than that we are still undersized, good big men make out defense better, resulting in better scoring oportunities at the other end...

Its always nice to have a good shooter on the bench, maybe on the team as a starter. But a talented C is what the doctor ordered us. We have just enough guards...

I think we'll get Brown and Swift or Curry and Swift or something like that.

Cmon guys... Allan Houston!!!

jk haha.

I wouldn't mind adding another shooter but if I had my way, Isiah would go out and get us a low-post scoring big man, maybe Zach Randolph is available?

I'm still trying to figure out what kinda of a post up game do we have down low. forget about the perimeter attack, until we have a back to the basket big man were dead.

Unless you have a Ben Wallace type to board, yes you do.

Allan has been known to make a shot or two...as long as he isn't asked to do too much he could be a lethal weapon off the bench.
And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

Sweets & Mo Taylor & I would think Q.

Not exceptional, but its what we got and its about what a lot of teams have.

sweetney

he has shown, WHEN HE GETS THE BALL, that he will either take a high percentage shot or get to the line. combine that with 3 players on the perimeter that will open it up a little bit, he CAN be that guy. is that what this team will want to do? time will tell.

Agree but he has also shown that he can't stop eating. Sweets will NEVER become the player we think he can unless he gets help from a real trainer that puts him on a extremely strict diet. We needs Sweets to stay in the form we saw him at the beginning of last year and then I think we'll have our low-post scoring option.

God I hope so. I really like Sweets, I just don't like when players who are in the NBA and getting paid what they are can't even get in shape and play up to their full potential. I've always liked Sweetney though so it'd be nice to see him scoring a ton of points in the post for the Knicks.

I thought nate was the half back?

Perhaps this team needs to bring in Charlie Ward to coach- he could probably draw up a play or two in the huddle.

Sweetnry shot 53% from the feild. Everyone forgets how efficient he is and he gets very good shots and gets to the line. Problem that I see is with Marbury, Q and Craw will there be enough shots for guys like Frye and Sweetney to devlope. Another concern I have is Herb if he is back I can see many minutes for Mo, Rose, JYD, TT and Penny as he doesn't play young player reason why Sweetney regardless of starting averaged the same minutes as when he came off the bench. Ariza's DNPs and so on. He can't be trusted to develope the young players I can see Herb play vets to try and get meaningless wins at the expense of developing the young players. Next year I want Sweetney and Ariza getting 35 minutes a game. If the lineup is manipulated right I can see Craw, Marb, Q, Ariza, Sweetney, Frye all averaging 30 minutes a game. But shots have to be wise and well thought out.

I actually like Sweetney quite a bit. But I think his best role is instant offense off the bench. I don't think that's a slight to him at all, I just think its the role he's best suited for.

I think this team needs a big guy to complement Frye. Frye is a nice piece, but he isn't the answer all by himself. This team still has height issues, especially if Q is the SF. Actually, there are height issues if Tim is the SF too - that guy plays smaller than any 6'10" guy I've ever seen.

it all goes back to the coach- and when I think on it, I'm starting to not want Herb back- with the one caveat that IT wanted the likes of Rose and Mo to play to ascertain their trade value & the value to the team so he knew if he traded KT- would Mo be ok or would he have to trade for someone.

Id say we should get a 7 footer. I wish we could've picked up Matt Walsh as a rookie FA so we could have a shooter. He's as good a player as Kyle Korver was coming out.

I don't think that summer league guys equate NBDL guys... I think you'll have to sign them formally to a NBDL contract. That said, being on the summer league team is probably a nice start.
