I think maybe even this year, Nate Robinson is going to be the type of player who is going to need WELL OVER 10 minutes a game, backing up Stephon Marbury, and I just don't see Steph being such a great SG, b/c he's so undersized on the defense, he'd be a liability. Hence, either a trade involving Crawford or Marbury could be made or at least should be considered. Any thoughts?

I would say Marbury. Just for contract and his value to obtain picks but I wouldn't and don't want any 2006 picks. I would make sure that I get back 2007 picks and young talent. I would like to hang on to Crawford.

If you traded Marbury just for picks, that team would have to be able to fit Marbury's contract under their cap. How many teams would be able to do that?

You have to take back expiring contracts as well. The expiring contract and the pick would be the key. If Isiah stays pat and does nothing but take back expiring contracts. If the Knicks stay pat and do nothing but cut Penny. Personally I would do a sign and trade with the Wizards for guy like Kwame Brown. Sweetney can be now used as trade bait. I don't see the KNicks giving him big money. He will be in his 3rd year (the money option period).

From MSG Network.com

http://www.msgnetwork.com/knicks.jsp
Listen to: Isiah Thomas on selecting Frye, Kurt deal

In an interview after the draft, Isiah was asked,
Interviewer: Is the deal still on the table?(referring to the KT trade)
Isiah: Ahhh...Which deal are you referring to?

I'm sure there'll be more shake-ups to come during the summer, and this comment proves that he's working hard on improving the team.

I just hope that he won't bring in expensive & declining vets like Walker, Illgauskas, Dampier, etc.

This team as of now is still weak defensively and this has to be addressed.

I want to see that we:
- release Houston
- S&T with Memphis using Penny/TT/Cash for Gasol/Swift/Posey(Memphis saves $70 of future cap)
- pick up Raja Bell with MLE

Marbury/Nate
Q-Rich/Bell
Posey/Ariza/JYD
Gasol/Sweeteny/Taylor
Frye/Swift/Rose

NBDL: Butler, Lee,

What, Crawford died or something?

And im not even going to go into the trade itself. Sheesh. Why not make it 4 team trade, and get LeBron and Garnett as well?

Much as I think expiring contracts have value, they aint THAT valuable.

Why would the Knicks trade crawford or Marbury? I mean, seriously.

If you're trying to build a playoff contender as Isiah has hinted towards then why would you trade your best player?

think!

also, I don't want to hear about isiah's eye for talent anymore. It's one of the most overused statements EVER. what eye for talent, we went to the lottery this yr. after he made something like 4 or 5 trades

I'd like to see Nate getting 12 mpg backing up Marbury and then another six playing with Marbury sliding over to SG. That gives him 18 mpg as a rookie.

Unless he's injured, no way Marbury stays off the court for 12 mins.

Make it 9 mpg then with Nate getting around 7 or 8 with Marbury on the court also.

This basically sums up my feelings about IT.

But hopefully I'm wrong about Frye and he wount get hurt in the summer league/preseason and struggle to get playin time all rook year due to that and will become nothing more then a 6pts 4rbs 1blk backup center.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Our backcourt is set right now. We need to move Tim Thomas and Sweetney if we have to in order to get a power forward. Our 1, 2, and 3 positions look like this without Tim Thomas on the roster.

PG Marbury 38 mins
SG Crawford 36 mins
SF Richardson 36 mins
SF/SG Ariza 20 mins
PG/SG Robinson 14 minutes

I think that's our rotation approx. for next season at those 3 positions providing all players are healthy.

i think the rep is eye for talent REGARDING THE DRAFT.

we all know his trading history is checkered at best. but so far, he's made 4 draft picks for the knicks and it looks like all 4 are part of the core for the next 5 years.

Can you all please stop jumping the gun???? look the season has yet to start, but some of you are already doubting and want to trade our best player...Give the man a chance to truly show what he can do..He did a hell of a job playing with Amare, Frye is much more polish than Amare, don't you think that the two will click right from the start???

Isiah is taking all the right approaches, he knows that we need two real big men on the roster, and he will address that situation. Relax and enjoy the ride...We only need to trade TT/Malik and perhaps Sweetney. After that, we need to get another center.....

Can't you see, we are ready to compete right from the start. We are going to be very successful next season...

Marb and Robinson
Q, J. Crawff
Ariza, TT
Sweet, and Butler
Frye, and Jerome James or Hunter or Curry..

Bill Laimbeer as the head coach.....

with the pick up of Robinson, I tend to think Craw's days could be numbered- he would be the one to go in a deal coupled with TT or Sweets.

Now- Marbury's minutes do need to be kept in check- we're not winning a title any time soon- and if he's going to be part of a core group, your window has to be 2 to 4 years out.

I think the pick of Nate means we are giving up on the 3 guard rotation idea, because with his size, he is a pure point.

We are prolly starting Q at the 3, which is fine, he is 6'6" 230, thats a lot of pounds and an inch on Spree when he played 3 for us. Plus he is an outstanding rebounder. 6 a game from the 2, he can easily sustain or up that at SF. Plust he will get to post a lot, which was his bread and butter with the Clips. Given that he is a good outside shooter, he is really a total package who needs a good coach to guide him and use him right. He is kinda a Billups type swing player that needs to be mentored to harness his skills.

With Frye at center, this is a running team, so I think Sweets is history, since he can't run. We are either gettin a 4 that can run and rebound like Gooden, or startin TT at the 4. I hope we are trading TT and Sweetney for a 4 tha can really run and rebound, and play defesne as well. Somebody like Stormile Swift? Gasol can run, too so that trade would fit the sysem well.

Considering our bench is now Ariza, Lee, JYD, and Nate, who are all running players, I'd say Mo and Rose need need to get moved, especially Mo, because Rose can run a little. After that we need to spend the MLE and the LLE in order to get a sharpshooer who can run and D up at the 2 and a mobile center who can block some shots and run. Somebody like Gadzurich/Hunter and maybe bring back Demarr?

Then finally get a coach who is a fast break coach. Considering we are deep we should press and trap, too. Maybe Pitino can be sucessfull this time around?

here is one thing that many of you failed to realize...Isiah is looking to put together a running team and a very good rebounding squad also. We have versatile players that can be rotated, etc....We are now fast, and long

Simrud...I could not have said it better myself.

Man oh man...I 100% with you on the TT at PF...that would be crazy because he's one of our best post up players and can draw the double team (when he's into it).

MoT is a post up player as well...the thing is, we need to keep post up players on the roster if we expect to contend in the playoffs...so, that leads me to believe that Rose/Sweets coupled with Penny should get us what we need.

Though...I'm gonna miss sweets.

And holy sht...did you just say Pitino?!?!?

He'd be PERFECT.

Damn...this kool aid taste great.
all kool aid all the time.
