Bad draft. Knicks of 2005-2006

Starters:
C-Channing Frye
PF-Mike Sweetney
SF-Quentin Richardson
SG-Jamal Crawford
PG-Stephon Marbury

Bench:
C-Jackie Butler
PF-Mo Taylor
PF-Malik Rose
PF-Jerome Williams
PF-David Lee
SF-Trevor Ariza
SF-Tim Thomas
SG-Penny Hardaway
PG-Nate Robinson

Have I left out anyone?

That is a late lottery team, as far as I can tell.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Don't be so sure. Briggs said our 05-06 starting lineup would be Thomas, Sweetney, Thomas, Crawford and Marbury. So let's not speak too soon. I predict that Fyre will be our backup center this season after we sign a bigman free agent or swing a deal.

The summer is young, Knicks fans.

I think Isiah made some mistakes... no doubt.

The good thing is I'm 100% sold that Lee, Frye and Nate will be solid NBA players for a decade. The problem is with 3 first rounders we didnt get one impact player, save maybe Nate. I like all 3 guys, but none are impressive.

We did use the draft VERY well in terms of adding players to the roster, and these are good role players in an uptempo system if thats the goal.

The bad (really bad) thing is I dont see us having a better chance than we had tonight of landing a franchise/impact player anytime in the near future, so thats a BIGTIME downer.

Fish, I think Frye has just as good or better chance of becoming a quality starting center in this league and I think counts as an impact player. David Lee is going to be a Chris Andersen type guy who this team has needed for years. Nate Robinson is a game-changing bench guy a la Boykins.

I don't think this team needed a Tmac style, high volume shooter like Green. Granger was nice, but he's not going to be a superstar. Graham was a beast, but similar to Q. Bynum would have taken YEARS and even then it's a CRAP shoot, and frankly, Zeke doesn't have years under Dolan if this team keeps losing.

This team will never have offensive problems with Marbury and Craw and Q and Frye. We need impact defensive players and we got THREE, which is fantastic. Nate is a beast. Lee is a beast. Frye is a quality shotblocker and rebounder and he's long and fast. He can become a beast, especially if he stays in the weight room this summer as promised. These guys will be ready to tear the roof off the Garden in five months. I can't wait to see this team. these three guys with the addition of Q will totally change the way we play.

I think this was a fantastic draft. Zeke can still go out and add an impact star with Tim Thomas or Penny's contract. Look at our roster. It's full of quality athletes who play hard. This team will have an identity for sure next year.

This team will have an identity for sure next year.

That identity will be: "The most athletic team that can't win more than 38 games."

Write it down and take it to the bank.

So...you're saying right now the Celtics and Bulls have a better roster than us? and for that matter, the Wizards?

Come on guys...snap out of it.

We just upgraded our team at the Center and SG/SF positions and upgraded our bench.

If last year's team could have been a 40 win team, not sure why this team can't either.

Kool aid bitches...Kool Aid!!

The Bulls do, but not the Celtics.

However being better then the Celtics does not get you into the playoffs.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

From the times:
So the youth movement is in full swing. Frye and Lee are 22. Robinson is 21. The Knicks also expect more from last year's rookie, Trevor Ariza, who turns 20 tomorrow, and from the third-year forward Mike Sweetney, who will be 23 in October. Marbury and Tim Thomas are 28. Crawford is 25. Only two Knicks - Allan Houston and Penny Hardaway - are older than 30, and both could be gone by next season. Thomas said he has not decided whether the Knicks would release Houston and save $40 million in luxury taxes under a new provision in the collective bargaining agreement.

Heck...I say keep sweetney...and being better than the celtics does get us in the playoffs (remember, our division is essentially us and the celtics)...win the division, take the 3rd spot in the 'offs.

I think we match up well with the sixers (though, they are clearly better rosters as they are) and raptors (what are they doing?) and nets (three sf's) as well.

But...like everyone has been reading...I'm all Kool aided up.

Still don't see Sweetney at our starting 4.
I'd go for JYD. But its really up for grabs. Could be anybody.
Also, I'd love to see it so, but I doubt highly that
TT (that bum) comes off the bench. Will start at least till
trade deadline.

And the Nets with a full year altogether of Kidd, Jefferson and Carter are not the immediate favorites?

Sorry, but we were a lottery team for a reason. I'm afraid that we might just be good enough to barely make the play offs and loose 4-0 in the first round.

If this is the team you see the Knicks having at the start of the season, then you are forgetting that the offseason has just started. You think Isiah is done trading? Even he knows that he needs another 7 footer. And Im sure either Penny or Tim, or maybe both, will be traded this offseason. Expiring contracts are overrated, yeah, but they still help...

Perhaps, but honestly, I'd rather not get back any players
with equally bad, but longer contracts. And that's what you're
going to get. Let'em expire!!!!
