Majerus was on with "Mike and the Mad Dog" this afternoon and give this appraisal of Bynum's game. He further stated that he was making a big mistake entering the draft.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

I'm still confused on why we want him so bad...I'm really interested in competing next year...

I'm one of those fans that hates rebuilding.

Looking like no chance at getting frye, and bynum will be scooped up by Portland, so, it's looking like we cancel the Q trade and take granger?

I would be happy with Granger and a Blatche or Taft at #30. Or a Webster and the same combo of either Blatche or Taft.

I want Frye and Blatche or Taft. And I'd also like to pick up another pick between 8 and 30.

After all the times that he overhyped Van Horn, I don't trust anything Majerus says.

So his objective analysis of a player who isn't personally close with him and didn't play for him is of no interest?

Exactly Rich. Perfectly said, he did the same thing with Andre Miller too. RVHoss, if your rebuilding isn't your thing then your right, Frye is your man. I for one want the Knicks to become a powerhouse again and I'd rather draft Bynum over Frye but I'll take Granger or Green over both of them. I don't trust a thing that Majerus says.

I don't know if drafting the second coming would make this team compete next year guys, so we should not even be talkin about it.

Take the BPA.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

The test for any analyst is to be show objectivity when discussing people you know. That is the reason so many ex-jocks make terrible analysts.

He may be right about any given player, but he no longer has any credibility as far as I'm concerned.

When you refer to "powerhouse" are you referring to the championship team? Because, the Knicks in thier franchise history has never had success at rebuilding when it was tried. Clyde Frazier was probably the last "project" that became a superstar. During the 90s the Knicks had more success grabbing CBA players that went undrafted than acquiring through the draft. If anyone mentions Ewing, please poke yourself in the eye because he was regarded as one of the most prepared players in draft history. All I am saying that there hasn't been much success in this team's history regarding rebuilding. If Bynum ever became something in the NBA, that would be a Knick all time first.

Similarly, the Knicks haven't won a championship since that "project."

Michael Ray was considered a project when we drafted him, but he developed very quickly at point guard and drug abuse.

When Isiah picks Andrew Bynum... Its all about the potential. I for one, am feeling real good about this kid. 17yrs old, 7-0 300 pounds, has a decent feel for the game. What's not to like?

Ok, so what he doesn't contribute right now.. The fact is, are we winning a chip in the next year? As optimistic a Knick fan, that I am.. The truth of the matter is "NO" we are not!

I feel like, the worst case scenario is he will pan out to be a bigger version of Mike Sweetney w/ an 18 ft jumper. That's pretty decent... His upside, is just short of Shaq.. aight I'm reach'n but he could be better than Eddy Curry. Why not take a chance on this kid?

Bynum
Sweetney
Richardson
Crawford
Marbury

That's pretty decent for next year IMO

In fairness to Majerus, I do think he isn't objective about the merits of his former Utah players, and overhypes them. But he does have an eye for talent, at least at the collegiate level so he may have a point with Bynum.
