I've been thinking about who's a good player comp for Channing Frye for a while now, and it finally hit me this morning. Anyway, so I thought I'd try and do it for all of our draft targets:

Channing Frye
NBA Player Comp - Lorenzen Wright
I think the comp perfectly illustrates fans hesitance in embracing him as a pick. Wright has been a solid 10+ year pro, and Frye likely will be as well, but Wright's never been a difference maker. He's pretty solid all around with a nice jump shot and some nice mobility. But he has a tough time defending the larger centers and at times plays PF.

Andrew Bynum
NBA Player Comp - Couldn't come up with one...I don't see Shaq...we'll probably not see another one in 20 years. Sorry, don't want to force it. Anyone else have one?

Gerald Green
NBA Player Comp - Tracy McGrady
This comp has been bandied about for a while and this isn't about being original, it's about being accurate, and this is dead on.

Martell Webster
NBA Player Comp - Michael Finley
We hear Glen Rice, but the guy can play did and appears to have more lateral quickness then Glen ever did. I see him more like Finley who also has a post game. Down the line, Martell could get thick and slow, but right now, he's more athletic then people are giving him credit.

Monta Ellis
NBA Player Comp - Upside Ben Gordon, Downside Juan Dixon
Tough one as I've only seen him play twice. I have the Knicks taking him at #30 and I've read Isiah loves him. I've heard Sam Cassell but I don't see any kind of post game and Cassell is amazing at that. The ultimate upside is Arenas, but not sure he can play the point.

Feel free to add comps of players you think the Knicks are looking at that I didn't include.

I think Frye will be better than Wright. He's a tough player to compare. He could be a bigger, less talented version of Rasheed Wallace or a better offensively, but less athletic version of Marcus Camby. I would say Frye's downside is Wright.

We will know how good Bynum will be in 5 years, hopefully the Knicks aren't willing to wait that long for a legitimate center.

why not? If the shoe fits...

Show me one other guy in the NBA that has a body like May.

Actually I think Sweetney has more post skills than May. I see May as more like a Danny Fortson. A pure blue collar banger and not much else.

I hope there's ZERO truth to us looking at May.

I'm so nervous about something crazy like that happening, that at this point, even though I love Bynum, I'll be happy with Frye.m

funny, i think the complete opposite is true...May looks to have a better post game than Sweetney from what i saw last year in the NCAA's...& he's less apt to let himself go in my opinion the way Sweetney has...i think he'll be a pro comparable to a Byson Dele in his prime (aka. Bryan Williams), maybe better.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Problem with may according to interview I heard on either the FAN or ESPN is that he is not liked by coaches or players. Not a way to create a harmonious team. Needs a very strong coach.
