How about our # 8 and an expiring contract for pick # 3? Portland desperately wants Bynum and may be willing to take the chance that he'll slip to 8. Sorry, Briggs. Take Deron Williams or G Green at 3 and then take Blatche at 30. Pursue Gadzuric for C for the MLE.

They don't desperately want Bynum. What they probably need the most is a shooter like Martell Webster, which is what they very well could select with that 6th pick. They like Bynum, but they like Webster just as much.

Why'd they work him out TWICE if they aren't serious about him?

Working out a player that much doesn't necesarily means that he is the only player they want. It makes more sense that Portland tries to get a shooter like Webster because that's more of a need they have than a gamble on Bynum. And when they worked out Bynum there was a rumor that they would trade down to get a gamble like Bynum with the Laker's 10th pick. But with the Utah trade they are probably going at Webster rather than Bynum.

Your trade is intriguing but I think that if we take Paul or D. Williams, we would have to trade Marbury. About Green, we don't necessarily need pick # 3 to get him, or at least a good prospect like him, like Granger...

what expiring contract? Penny? so the Blazers are going to take on a $15 million dollar salary next season for who exactly? they're capped out so they can't simply eat a contract, much less give up a top 3 pick...what does Portland get out of this scenario?
