I haven’t seen any articles on it specifically. I originally thought he may earn in the MLE range, similar to Mitch. Now I’m thinking with the way the league is going, he may not get an offer that big. His floor is the contract that Collin Sexton got, in that 9-10 mil per year range. The most likely range I think is where Collin Gillespie signed this summer. 4 years 48M seems really fair to me, with maybe a player option on year 4. I’m not sure if the Knicks can afford that with KAT and Hart extensions coming, but I have always really wanted to keep Deuce and I am generally against dealing him for a backup center. Deuce is the glue that keeps the bench together considering he is probably the best catch and shoot player on the team, and is a great point of attack defender. He can be plugged into so many lineups.
Good take and reasonable logic for a well liked home grown Knick. To be fair, I think he deserves an extension but disagree on beng the glue for the bench. That is Shamet now. Deuce is not the same defender he was nor should he be. He earned his minutes in the Thibian system by contributing even when the shots don't go down. With Clarkson knicks hae better length and the range is there. Behind that is Dadiet who cannot be counted on but is still on the roster. In my opinion players working on weakness somtimes regress from their strength. We saw that with IQ and Deuce's development as a knick example. Then it clicks.
Dadiet could and would fill in behind CLarkson and Shamet. We did win our chip and Deuce was not as big a factor. Much of it was on his abdominal injury. If knicks were counting on him going foward would we have paid Shamet and Clarkson? I don't know.
Fact is we could run it back with a healthy Duece and perhaps let him be unrestricted. Maybe we resign him, maybe he walks.
Can't keep everyone and need room for others to grow.
Dadiet can shoot but seems like he works on getting to the rim more as a priority in this Gleague and again in summer league. As a fan I cannot properly asscess his place in the roster.
I do know we need more depth at the 5 as KAT/Drummond are both over 30. Huk was obviously not a favorite of Browns.
Its no accident Mitch in Boston and Huk in Philly to disclose the secrets? Not that it matters as there is plenty of tape to disect Knicks playoff brilliance but they are one of manny gunning for us. As always its one thing to know how to stop a team. Its another to execute the game plan!
