Restricted free agent Mohamed Diawara intends to sign a multiyear, $10-plus million deal to return to the New York Knicks, sources tell ESPN. Diawara -- the No. 51 pick in last year's NBA draft -- was part of the champion Knicks after spending the season on a standard contract.

Pretty cheap for an NBA champion.

Assuming it’s 4-years at the 2.6M with increases each year. So comes in around 11M give or take. But we will see. I am really interested in the exact terms. Exciting nonetheless. He’s our major development project that can turn out to be really good in time.

I can stop pretending he doesn't exist so I don't accidentally tip off another team about his talent.

This move essentially means that every other player (of importance) can be brought back with the Knicks going over the cap as they see fit. Including draft picks.

That’s right, right?

Yup that’s right. Assuming the contract structure is what we expect. This also means the Knicks could bring back the entire team outside of mitch and stay under the second apron. Obviously not ideal, but I want to be prepared that it’s a very real possibility as the Knicks can continue to put off the second apron for awhile if they choose.

YES !! Big money MO is back for good !!

locked him up before anyone else could even talk to him.

Hell of a deal, this kid is special. The way he locked up brown in that Celtics game was eye opening. This kid has star potential. A true 3 & d with superior length. But he’s even more than that as he can handle the ball and has great court vision.

A true future cornerstone. Thinking he breaks out this next year, he could be the talk of the town if he takes a step forward like we think he will.

As of right now

Kolek
McBride
Mo

We have 2 more shoes to fill.

Mitch ?
Shamet ?

Picks ?

The future has never been brighter ! Not only are we the champs but this organization has become a blueprint for the nba on how to build a championship caliber team.

Excited to see Mo get MO minutes in the regular season!

Good move likely in the mold of Deuce: "you get minutes and an opportunity if we can agree on a price going forward".
Knicks took him at 51 and put him on the rostrer. Did not bury him in Gleague. This is Leon looking at players develpment in step with ability.

Dadiet was drafted and invested in. WE also promised to not bury him in the gleague and perhaps like Deuce a muliti year learn as you earn process.

These guys and thier agents understand opportunity is a very valuable resource that leads to a much higher payday.
funny, for all the hype Mo shot about 36% from 3pt which does not show up on a highlight reel. Perhaps that was some garbage time that took him down a bit? From what I recall his defense on on one was good as he is athletic, but he got lost at times.

His contract is also good trade fodder if need be. He has shown first round talent and on a great contract.

Curious if Kolek gets a window to play. Same with Dadiet. Pancome on a different timeline given his age still? He has not shown much but has had some good games in the Gleague perhaps putting him in the awkward "Too good for Gleague, not enough for NBA".........For a young player that means its coming.

Again, we are not privy to the inside thinking of the knicks or if Dadiet is on track or not. We just won a chip. Rookies don't play. But......players get injured and traded. Even ones that went to Villanova!

Have number of years been confirmed? Found a Yahoo article that says four years, but then they reference Sham's "multi-year" tweet as the source.

Won’t dare mess with our starting lineup but feel Mo could fill my long standing need for a PF.
Curious if the rumors are true and that our first round pick is basically gone with this?
Really thought there may be a backup PG or C at that spot. Considering the cap space available making it likely neither Jose or MR are brought back.

If we go over the 2nd apron you can’t aggregate contracts in trades or add cash. I hope Dadiet plays with French national team this summer.

I think there is only one realistic pathway to the $10M number and that would equate out to 4 years at ~vet min level extension. Player and team options are the only tweaks that can be made, I think.
