Crazy Leon and WWW were like crying as the team was center court getting accolades for moving to the finals.
Was it the enormity of the moment? The tension release? Two grown men? Two Execs of a storied franchise relieved?

Personally last year watching INdy move on I kind of felt its a bit of a fabricated ceremony, a sort of participation trophy to create interest. Kind of like celebrating the final four or the AFC and NFC championships. Its nice for fans at the moment but history will celebrate the winner while the runner up is mostly an asterisk. Its still a special season to make the finals but the Larry Bird mvp of the conf finals? The Trophy? Thats for the fans I suppose. The league does what it needs to do keep selling it.
They did not do any of this "Back in the day". You advanced. No made for TV moments. The team celebrated their accomplishments. Is it a bad thing for the league to say "Thank you for being a fan". No.

Mrs Nalod reading online how the prices are rising for finals tickets. Shaking her head in disbelief. She asked me if I wanted to go or fly to a city if need be. I pondered it and then thikming about Timothy Chamolet and Kylie, and perhaps other "Super fans". They have the money to not just be fans like I Have for 50 years but money to satisfy the need to be a part of it. Paying $3500 for the worst seats is not a vieewing experience but the price of admission to be "a part of it". Timmothy was celebrating with Jalen as if he was part of it. Fans use "WE" when talking about the teams accmplishments. "We did it", "We swept the Cavs". Any past criticisms of the team are now personal affronts and somehow "we are redeemed".

IM not breaking the bank to get to a game. Im not calling out anyone who does. Go and enjoy the experience regardless of the result. If you feel you deserve it, then you do.

I loved seeing Clyde give the trophy to Brunson. Clyde was my childhood hero and model. A reminder to be cool under pressure. In my desk drawer I own an trading card of him in a Cav's uniform. A reminder that greatness is not always rewarded with loyalty or that loyalty is not always recipricated. Its why when a player like Lebron seeks his own path and has the empowerement to do his thing it does not bother me. I have done it in my career when I felt it was not reciprocal. Why should I fault others. In time it was a small blip in Clydes career and post playing career but it must have felt awful at the time. He has mentioned it. Cleveland in 1977 sucked.

My hope is that Brunson and this group can also provide lessons for young people that one can seek other things besides money to measure greatness. The knicks with Clyde and Reed were coehesive group that came together in 1968 and over the next 6 seasons Climbed the ladder with painful defeats (Vs. Boston in 1969!) and in time won 2 chip of three trips to finals. When I say its the journey that is most important this is what I remember. Fans do feel the pain and I guess its why we feel a part of it. There are positive lessons to be learned from it. Not just bitterness.

Back to the tears: I have not read anyting about the emotional display by them but them tearing up to make the finals has to be more than just making it one more round. Im thinking Its Leon with his son who is also Jalens Agent. Their relationship with the Brunsons over many years. The hard work Jalen has put in and now celebrated at that moment. Maybe a tear for betrayiing his friend Thibs that needed to happen for that moment. That he was not celebrating as he was part of the family. Thibs played a big role in Jalens life over many years! Maybe that bringing in Mikal and not able to retain DDV knowing the bond between Jalen, Josh, and mikal is with him. Im was not thinking of knicks or its fans, but for Leon and the relationships. I hope someone writes a book about this. A story of business, relationships, family and winning. There is a lot to umpack here. The Bing Bong Mob won't bring you there.

We can pick and choose what we want from this run as fans. Get drunk and chant at a santiation working sweeping the streets, Argue over trades, free agents, who is the better fan, who never gave up, what ever. Sometimes there is more than winning. Its a great story regardless of the outcome, but for sure more epic if crowned champions!

Those tears? We have not won anyting yet but I suspect it was about the journey. Tears of Joy and pain one drop at a time.

In the sentimenal vein,
JB is building a HOF career with the cement coming together as a knick. Not lost on him is "What knicks have done for me". He gets it.

He was in the shadow of Luka and took a chance not just financially but emotonally to take the biggest of spotlights in the Mecca!
Three allstar games, Three all NBA awards, Clutch player of the year, Mr. Illinois basketball and HS chip, 2 ncaa chips, NCAA national player of the year, and some gaudy playoff numbers. Yeah, Leon can be sentimental about this.

Win a chip and playoff MVP should about seal it.
He can get accolades for taking the pay cut but he and others saw the potential for the bigger picture. We should all shed tears.
I am rooting heavy for this kid to climb the mountain. What a great young man he is. After all the starphuching we were given and false idols to cheer for this kid is delivering the real deal.

What's wrong with two grown men crying? They put in the work to build a finals run with a team that couldn't even make the playoffs most of the previous two decades. Tears of joy after years of hard work erasing all of the years of misery. They delivered something no GM could do here for decades. We are in the finals. Feeling the emotions in that building with all of those Knicks fans and the players they put together? That could make any man tear up. I was getting a little verklempt myself watching this on TV.

where did I say it was wrong to cry?
I speculate there was more to just winning and I stated my reasons.
This is not about you and your being "Verklempt".

It wasn't an attack on you. I don't even know you. Not everything is about you and your feelings. Just a general comment. Seeing them and Tracy Morgan....Jalen was getting choked up....it was pretty cool. Emotional moment. These are great times to be a fan. Hoping we get to the top with 4 more wins. Everyone will cry then!

Of course you don't know me.
No beef with your comment really. If it was general so be it, perhaps I took it as a retort to my post. Not an attack!

Maybe I'll bawl out after 53 years of pent up tears?
If Jalen or anyone else cries on the team I'd think it cool.
If Marbury will not cry, he'll weep instead.
If Melo cries its fake. If Spike Cries its drama.
If Jessica Alba Cries I'll be there for her. I
f OG cries i'll cry. Oak won't cry. Marv Albert? He can bite Dolan, then cry. Rebecca Haarlow? I want to bite her.
Dolan will accept the trophy, he won't cry. He'll be stoic or have a complete breakdown. It will be awkward. LIke an alcholic who retarded his emotions. Be great if he mentions his Dad who bought the team.
Camby will cry. Spree will cry late.
Clyde? Sweet old man tears!
Steve mills? He can't stop crying for 5 years now.
Isiah Thomas? "No women no Cry"..... Trump? "Tears of a clown"......
The Bing Bongers? They will yell about crying,
Pano's will cry, then not admit it!
Martin will Cry. Then update the site to 2009 standards.
Mark Jax will cry and say its the blood of Chirst pouring out. Then get cought cheeting on his wife. Again.
Kevin Durant will cry, and say its cool.
Kyrie will cry, then blame aliens.
Jules will do a "CryOver".

Did not read the thread, just seeing key words about crying and tears

which reminds me how much my Knicks team loves drinking the tears of their vanquished victims

Atlanta Hawk tears are salty onion water with the off-putting scent of strip club baby oil topped off by the bitterness of regret

Philadelphia 76er tears are viscous algae laced with armpit and a hint of burnt sage mingled with Bell's palsy drool

Cleveland Cavalier tears are Mott's Apple Juice spiked with a nonchalant devil may care longing for Cancun chaise lounges & aspic of flaming Cuyahoga river water

That part was about Clyde not having the empowerment that todays players have.

Thats all you got from it was Lebron's chaffing our hyde 16 years ago?
