When Ainge was with Boston, dude was making moves.
He put added KG and Ray Allen to Paul Pierce to win a championship in 2008.
Later, he traded aging KG + PP to Brooklyn for multiple unprotected picks including what turned out to be the #1 pick in 2017
which occurred in a year they still otherwise won the Eastern Conference behing Kyrie Irving, Jaylen Brown and
Then he, like a gangsta, traded to #1 pick Markell Fultz (bust) to Philly for the #3 pick Jayson Tatum (perennial MVP candidate) and a future pick.

Now he's been in Utah since 2021. He inherited a playoff roster that finished top in the West with Donovan Mitchel and Rudy Gobert.
And what has he achieved since being there? Multiple failed seasons with no one of interest on his roster beyond Lauri Markannan (part of the Donovan Mitchell trade).
What's going on? Has he lost his touch? Are the other NBA execs freezing him out? Does he have long to go before getting booted out of the Beehive State?

Rebuild with new ownner is taking longer.
They are still sitting with picks but its the danger of building thru the draft. It takes time.
I think His son is now team president so its o his ass now.
Your not wrong, Danny was the architect of two Boston titles and made some saavy and tough decisions. Not all worked out. Kyrie Walked and Haywood had that awful injury. His handing of little Isiah Thomas was rough but its a tough business.
Pehraps the eras of parity and a tough cap rules would have made things easier for smaller market teams to gain a foothold. Not sure they made any really bad decisons one can point to. I thought they did well trading Rudy and Donovan but its not taking hold yet.

I have to tell you, they may have some extra picks but they come from Cleveland, so not super good so far.

They haven’t hit in draft. Cody Williams, Ace Bailey who doesn’t even wanna be there, Taylor Hendricks who has barely played in 3 years, Kessler Walker hasn’t played much this year and I don’t know his value, Keyonte George has a long way to go.

Their dev process has not been good but I don’t follow them.

Ainge had a lot luck in Boston. His buddy, McHale, probably took 70 cents on the dollar in that Garnett trade and the Nets were ridiculously desperate to make a splash. Utah is kinda doing the process thing w/o Embiid. They're trying to find their blue chip player through the draft because, realistically, no FA is going to Utah as their first, second or even third option. I can't think of a superstar player that the Jazz received outside the draft. Lauri got there by trade and it might be a stretch to call him a superstar

But now Ainge can just point to OKC and say, give me 5 more years and that will be us.

Mitchell and Gobert both wanted out. Have you been to SLC?
