Wasn’t he starting players on their birthdays and when they were in their home city ? What a weird time.

A colossal failure of epic salary proportions! This was 20 years ago. Larry got paid $28,000,000 for one season!
THat was a lot of money then! Shit, its a lot of money now!!!!
Isiah does not get enough credit for what he did. That teams salary without Browns was 40% higher than the next team which was Portland!

You know what? I’ve barley watched Yabu, but after skipping thru this below videos like a 15yo maxed out on Adderall, I’m totally convinced that Yabu could be what Hart could not in a starting lineup that features 5-out.

Shot a solid 38% from deep on decent volume. Would move Mikal and OG to SG/SF in a lineup with KAT and you’d have Yabu and OG both on the back line when KAT is involved in the PnR. Yabu got to be one of the wider screen setters out there for Jalen whereas Hart was nowhere near as effective. Willing and effective passer. He could possibly fit that starting role in a more effective way than Josh could.

Book it.

this is exactly what should always happen. You have to be prepared for an ankle twist at an inopportune time

I felt similarly about Yabu but also thought our 2nd unit may be too small if he starts.

Thinking more about it Yabu does seem like a better/bigger version of Precious (and I was all for trying Precious next to KAT) so maybe it's worth a try at least? How is Yabu's defense? KAT kinda soft so important we have some defensive tenacity next to KAT or we could be exposed with our interior defense...

Brusnon (Brogdon, Kolek)
Bridges (J.Clarkson, Deuce)
OG (Shamet, McCullar)
Yabu (Hart, Pacome)
KAT (Mitch, Hukiporti)

We have great puzzle pieces and hopefully we figure out two perfect puzzles between our starters and bench to maximize all this talent and roster balance we seem to have this season.

That brings up a good question... is it time to cash out on Josh Hart? If a combo of Yabu/McCullar can replicate his skill set do we move him for another frontcourt player? Or... is he the "Hart" of the team and it would be a mistake to trade him now?

I'd start Mitch simply to avoid the hack-a-Mitch bs and stats told us Hart starting with that lineup didn't work last season.

The pnr with Mitch and Brogdon in the 2nd unit could be lethal.

If you want to run 5 out you really have either Brogdon or Yabu in the starting lineup. I was surprised by Yabu’s footwork in his workout video. Had faster feet than I expected for a big guy. I think you might give up a little verticality with KAT and Yabu, you don’t have that 7’4 wingspan with vertical leap. But you definitely have big bodies that can take up space for the paint.

If you are gonna run and spread the floor a bit, I think we will see a lot of lineups including KAT next to Yabu.

Should be interesting.

And to be sure, the Knicks can run a ton of 5-out with their roster, they don't necessarily need to have a starting lineup with 5-out.

True. Regardless of the starting 5 they have a lot of rotation pieces that can shoot the three. Hart, Robinson and Clarkson being the weaker links on that front.

He and Marbury wanted to kill each other. I remember listening to the radio Brown not even subtly insulting Marbury in interviews during the season.

And then the following year Isiah and Marbury literally tried to kill each other on a plane. Snakes on a plane.

Problem with hack a Mitch is you get over the limit. Sure Mitch will brick half his free throws but now you’re giving easy free throws to the rest of the team rest of the half

We’ve had rotation pieces before but stubborn thigs wouldn’t budge. In comes brown and a deeper bench. Brown will definitely have some 5 and out rotations.

The key to starting Mitch is rim protection. Yabu would be a great starter for our offense but do we really want Yabu (undersized big) and towns protecting the rim?

Starting Mitch will force teams to adjust. Then brown can run a 5 and out rotation. Once teams adjust to that, brown switches back to rim protection.

I’m excited to have a coach with offensive experience and a deep roster. And a coach that will go 9-10 deep.

Can you help me understand who you consider rotation pieces from last year outside of the starting 5? Deuce, Cam, Precious, Sims, Mitch, Shamet, Huk?

Considering the injuries and experience and expectations, which are the guys that were good rotation players off the bench during regular season? For me, and in hindsight, 4 of those guys are vet min players this year, 1 was out for most of the season, and Deuce had a down year all things considered.

Are those the guys you consider decent rotation pieces or just guys who were on the bench?

I have heard it reported that Mitch won't play both ends of back to backs so at the minimum there will be two regular starting lineups.

Brown has also said in several press conferences that the offense will have a 5 and then spots 1-4 are interchangeable, i.e. whoever brings up the ball will be the PG.

He has also said that Yabu and KAT have a steeper learning curve because sometimes they will play the 4 (really 1-4) and sometimes the 5. Im guessing Huk and Mitch are exclusively learning the 5 role.

At least from that take, it seems like a 5 out offense isnt really in the cards. The 5 will have a different role than 1-4, I'm guessing that means screening, rolling, dunking, offensive boards, etc.

So Brown will be playing with one of Mitch, KAT, Yabu, or Huk or
KAT/ Yabu Mitch/ Huk
Yabu KAT
