Call me crazy but he’s been in the gym plenty of times I’m sure, and unfortunately he may not have the genetics to show it, which is ok.

He needs time to play against nba talent and the right system or team that will give him PT. Maybe he will be in his late 20s b4 he makes any real impacts, who knows.

I agree about his defense needs to improve. But he’s a passer and hits open shots. Hes not iverson or shamGod. Hes a passer who can run an offense and lead a team.

Question is will Leon have the patience to wait for his development to grow. Those championship windows are narrow, Unless u have MJ and Pipen, Kobe and shaq type players. Splash brothers. We have two stars who’s weak on defense and relies on offense to impact the game.

So your saying there’s a chance Kolek will find his bag?

Who needs a bag 🎒

Once his jumper is consistent, his lack of defense will be masked by all out effort, energy and communication/ flow.

If the biggest offseason issue is Kolek not shooting well in summer exhibition games I can live with that. Jets are going absolutely nowhere and it’s starting to look the same for the Yankees. Knicks are by far in the best shape of any team I root for

Call me a troll, but he to playmake he needs to be a threat.
This kid can do it at the gleague level. Maybe Blkexec is right and playing time gets him the game reps. As said, that window is win now.

At this moment he is on the roster and knkcks don't have a bonafide point to displace his spot.

Wondering if he obtained a bag somewhere between summer league and the regular season. Hit a nice floater, made a catch and shoot 3, scored off the dribble. If he can keep defenses honest with his scoring than his elite passing instincts get to be valuable. I thought he gave a credible defensive effort (he will always be physically overmatched). That said if he can do what he did scoring the ball last night, an 8-12 mpg backup role is totally viable for him.

I've been posting that perhaps he has been closer than we think? Doing it all but hititng the open shots. Coaches know when a player is close to clicking......

What I saw last night was nice poise as he was dribbling thru the paint. He is showing more patience and is crafty. Like Jalen. Like Tony Parker. Like Steve Nash. No, not like all NBA and HOF'ers, but showing more than previous. He was not afraid.
I don't disagree when Thibs would **** with players and pull them if they not performing up to a standards that wins NOW. Brown at this stage of still figuring things out might be promoting him to let it loose and let the instinct carry you and not worry. Easy to type this then exercise. He wants his guys to shoot and Kolek is likley showing in practice he can.

Side note: Brown looks like he tellling Clarkson to be more mindful of ball movement and not force it. Since he is not paid big money for buckets he can add playmaking to his game and stay in the league? Just a quick observation. He had some nice moments in game one.

Did Kolek find his bag in preseason? Did perhaps he eclipse Brogden in the order? Maybe that had a little to do with his retirement? I mean if you dont have it anymore, that will show up on the court also? Im not saying he could not get in better shape and reclaim the spot, but at 33 and his injuries he decided he was cooked?

I really liked what I saw from Kolek last night. Did his job really well as the backup PG. Ran the team, hit a hit and even took it to the basket a few. He's never going to be a great one on one defender but he fights and he kind of be TJ McConnell pest-like at the end.

Kolek just looks the part of a perfect backup PG. He deserves the non-Brunson minutes next to Clarkson/ Deuce.

Think he's a very different player than McConnell. Im not sure there's a player in the NBA that gets deep into the paint as frequently as McConnell. McConnell is gonna probe and keep defenses off balance. McConnell doesn't really want to catch and shoot. Kolek's peak to me is more like a Tyus Jones with better passing. Tyus has been damn good at shooting catch and shoot 3's, so Kolek has a long way go to match that efficiency, but Kolek's innate passing skills are elite. I think he's showing that he has something off the bounce as well - he had that at Marquette, but if he can score off the bounce at an NBA level he has a chance at a long NBA tenure.

I posted in the game thread I thought last night was the first time he looked like a pro and he played really well. He played like a scrappy fast player. He attacked. It's a scoring league now. You just can't get away with being a non threat on offense especially as a guard.

Not enough annoying of a white guy yet? Or just too short of a white guy?

I can't tell

Define “white guy”. I’ve been searching the world map for years looking for a country called white.

Come on Nalod. As much as you get on everybody else, it’s your turn now.

Kolek is actually black (using today’s lazy made up racially motivated labeling construct used to separate, and divide all of us) Ironically if they knew back then (especially with DNA discovery) those labels wouldn’t exist today. Because there’s one race and if all humans are from Africa then technically all humans are black.

Let me help you out, the name kolek is of Eastern European origin, possibly Polish or Czech.

Annoying Czech guy, European guy 🤷‍♂️

Back to the subject, I love this guy. Always love rooting for the underdogs. Deuce was #1 underdog for me. Grimes was next. But Deuce fought his way up to being a main rotational player and spot starter in the nba. Love it. Now it’s Kolek time. Deuce was and still is the best PG defender. Doesn’t do well against long SG or tall PGs like SGA but who does.

Koleks IQ and vision is top notch, and only gets better with more PT. Love how he’s attacking and playing with confidence. Jumper looks like it will improve efficiency wise vs last year. Coach brown is the perfect players coach for Leon who continues to ingest this team with more young talent, creating a farm of wings and a long term youth development factory.
