I remember during the obamacare debate republicans were going crazy over the fake idea of death panels. Well due to their not respecting the delta variant they finally made it a reality.

Is there at least a higher demand for the vaccine down there? Do most people down there at least agree there is a problem?

Some personal insight;. I am on a baseball team down in Tampa. They instituted little covid guidelines. The tournament season is currently in it's third week. So far 5 players on my team have been infected with Covid. I had it before the season despite being vaccinated. Have not played this far. 4 contracted it during season and are were all not vaccinated. Of those four, one had mild symptoms for a couple of days and received no treatment. He is back playing. Another is a diabetic and received the monoclonal antibodies. He is feeling better in his seventh day but still having trouble doing too much. The other two are in their 5th day and still having flu like symptoms with lots of coughing and some shortness of breath. Both those received no treatment. All four were Trumpers and did not think Covid was a big deal. Problem is that the ones that had mild symptoms and are now ok are even stronger in their beliefs Covid is a common flu. Ignoring all that were not so lucky.

Got to admit that when I contracted the virus, despite being vaccinated, limiting my activities and wearing my mask, I was angry and felt like the vaccine made no difference. Especially since I had 12 rough days. And my vaccinated brother in MY got it. However, seeing the current stats and watching most of my friends that were unvaccinated be the ones to get it makes me feel like I was just one of a few vaccinated that were just unlucky. And there is the "what if" part on the extent ofy symptoms.

Btw, many are still wearing masks in stores down here but for the most part, most just don't care anymore. Until they get it of course.

One thing I have noticed is that vaccines are not an exact science since everyone's immune system is not the same. Take into account the new variants and it is even more of an inexact science. The one thing that is clear is that it helps stop you from being hospitalized. That is pretty clear in the numbers. Some lucky people would not have been hospitalized anyway but I really would not chance it if I don't have to.

I remember this anti vax thing came up a few years ago in a religious community that had an outbreak of measles or mumps. The question I asked then was if I'm vaxxed why should I care if other people are anti vax. The way vaccines work is that they need for a large amount of people to also take them for them to eradicate diseases like polio. The way it was explained to me was that lets say a vax makes it so you are 95% immune vs a virus. You would think I am pretty darn safe. Well that 95% rolls every time you come into contact with someone who has it. So even though the chances are low sooner or later that 5% chance will hit and you get sick. This is why it is important for a lot of people to get the vaccine. If everyone if 95% immune the chances of you anyone getting it are astronomically low.

If you take into account variants like the Delta variant. The variant is multiple times more transmissible. Which means more people catch it faster which increases the chances for that 5% to hit. They even mutate to temporarily evade your immune system or outright become more resistant to antibodies. Both these things increase your chance to get sick even though you are vaxxed. So what started out as 95% immune can turn to 87% with variants. The good thing about being vaxxed is that once your immune system notices something is wrong it acts quickly because it was previously prepped on what to do. If you are not vaxxed and you are in this situation it will take time for your immune system to figure out how to attack the virus. During this time the virus could have moved to your lungs and then you are in big trouble.

This part is a little random, but I had a few people who has a rough time with symptoms from the vaccine and said even if they need a booster they wont get it. The thing I don't understand about this line of thinking is that if you had a rough time with something that had no chance to kill you don't you think you might be one of those people who might not make it when you get the real virus. I would think they would be the people who would want the vaxx more.

I got a breakthrough case of Covid Vaccinated months ago

So far worst symptom is stuffy nose. No fever no chills. I even walked on treadmill hours after finding out. I don’t feel great but on the other hand not bad at all to be honest. A little worried. I was susceptible through my kids and that is likely what happened as my son has it. I’ll keep any updates here but frankly I feel that the vaccine will and has done a good job for me so far.

Without great detail, is your son living in your house? School age? Vaxxed. Not judging, just demographics.

That yoru vaxxed and too symptomatic is GREAT! Keep it up! Hope thats all it is. The numbers down south of vaxxed vs. not is intense regarding ICU patients and deaths.
I hate the Vax BTW. But its the lessor of two evils by far.
Do lung exercise to keep them clean and working. Good luck!

It's almost like vaccines work when a lot of people are vaccinated.

Apparently facebook is ground zero for anti vaxxers. I have never really used facebook so this is news to me. I have come across a place called the Herman Cain Award. They track anti vaxxers who eventually pass due to COVID. There are a lot more instances of this happening than I ever imagined. So far it seems like 95% of them were on facebook. One instance a father lost his adult son to covid and within a day of his passing still proceeded with anti vax social media posts.

Yup. It definitely is.
