His only political future is a run at 2020. He can solidify his position atop what's left of the mainstream/evangelical/tea party wing of Republican party by stepping down. He has no future atop the alt-right wing.

If he stays, and loses (which is what will happen) that option comes off the table.

Despite his performance last week however, from all accounts, this seems like a situation that would genuinely effect his personal values.

Trump-Pence is over. Pence is just going to give him more rope this evening before making it official.

Calls them "Self righteous hypocrites", I saw that...I love that Trump is doubling down and essentially undoing his "apology"...

And this applies to all his TV "surrogates" condemning his remarks in one breath while supporting him the next. He just called them all self-righteous.

What isn't arguable is THIS is in fact the campaign that Trump really wants. As much as his surrogates claim the media focuses on this stuff at expense of the "issues," why Trump is running is for the rallies and for what occurred in front of Trump Tower last night.

He WANTS this campaign to be a referendum on how loyal his supporters are. His "I could shoot someone..." line was foreshadowing of this months ago. Trump DOES think because he's a "star" he can do anything. This wasn't 10 years ago, this was 10 months ago.
