When did "hockey assist" become such a popular term among analysts/commentators? I dont remember hearing that much until recently and Dorris Burke was just talking about one Odom had

Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

I was saying the same. Roger ****ing Mason! Rockets were tired. No legs. They could not make open shots. This is going to be a tough January. A lo of back to back games and 4 games in 1 week.

I will say this. It's not surprising that Kobe is regressing towards his career averages. His efficiency was off the charts early in the season (when I called him a top 5 player). Career-wise he has been a chucker with only slightly above average efficiency and it should have been obvious that he'd be likely to regress towards that. (I say "should have been" because I didn't predict it at the time but should have realized it.) This month, he's been shooting at an efficiency level (.537 TS%) that's not helping his team.

BTW, here are Kobe's TS%s by the month:

October (2 games): .701
November: .611
December: .572
January: .537

I see no reason to back down from the claim that his high volume shooting was helping the team October through December but it's clear it's not helping this month. You may have thought I meant it, but I never said that he would continue to be a top 5 MVP candidate throughout the whole season. Saying that would have violated my most basic belief - that the career data is the best sample to use.
I am flattered that you are so invested in the accuracy of my beliefs though.
