Rather than rail on Thibs for injuries perhaps cred to him and the staff for “next man up” and keeping the winning up!
I could not have imagined this outcome the last week or so given the roster injuries.
Memphis said “phuck it” last night and damn near pulled it off.
That game last night was one team even more decimated than the other!
In the end we won by 10 pts.

As Thibs said “in the NBA, no lead is safe”.

At some point there is critical mass and they have to give up some games for the greater good?
But this fan is entirely impressed with grit and professionalism exhibited to keep the winning ways up not just the players, but coaching staff down to the guys behind the bench and the training staff who must be working many hours. The video guy who is likley getting many requests as well.

We as fans take so much for granted and just assume plug and play scenarios were we can make a trade and said player will just acclimate at the flip of a switch. For that to happen all teams have a lot of work to do before making a trade, then afterwards to make **** happen. We just get to argue the letter grades!

So kudo’s to the organization for the job being done!

Im sure that poster is rehung down there as a memento. That or Breen has one ****ed up childhood!

Heard some Clyde talking last night and I do recall he started in radio and it was a big comedown. He had one good year in clevelend then played 12, then 3 game the next two seasons. He faded away rather than retire with grand fanfaire.
Earl who had knee issues earlier in the decade seemed to have aged better. What we don’t know was if Clyde was offered to retire gracefully or instead chose continue thus making the trade a thing. Knicks were right to trade him if they were to move on. Broke my heart btw.
Interesting to hear about his ego and how he had to deal with the “phone not ringing”. Remember, he did not go out on top and the league was not doing well before bird and magic revived it of sorts. It had image problems and while Clyde was never part of it his image was not unique anymore.
In time his greatness on and off the court has been respected.

I recall being suprised he was doing radio and to be frank was not that good at it. But he was clyde and that helped keep him in the game and he got better. Breen was obviously a great sidekick. I suspect he did a lot with Marv Albert as well early on.

At some point Clyde will move on perhaps. He will be 79 next month and intimated as sooner than later? He does take many road games off and while he looks great perhaps has issues? He seems spot on most nights. Even if not he is “Clyde” and family.

He was my childhood hoop hero. I get why Willis got MVP of playoffs in 1970 as its not just a finals thing but that 38pt, 19 assist masterpiece in game 7 is often overshadowed by Willis coming out of the tunnel.
Clyde truly sacrificed his game by accepting Earl as he did and the greater good. I was so happy he was kept on the 75 greatest list.

ALso kudos to Puma for reviving the “Clyde” shoe as they do. First player to get his own shoe! Im sure he never got the crazy money they get now but pioneer’s rarely do. I hope younger fans don’t just look at the legacy 70’s team without knowing the full stories of some of these players. Clyde came out of small school in the day when freshman did not even play varsity. Early 60’s too!! He made his claim to fame by really playing up in the NIT tournament back when it meant something. It was in MSG. It was meant to be. The rest is history. Great we can press some buttons and just see youtube videos. I have an VHS tape of “History of the knicks” and it was a thrill to see those old clips when I bought it over twenty years ago!

2) That's a ****ton of money
3) Over performs

Sure, Kudos to the staff, team, the 2024 stretch. However, people have the right to be concerned, as there are no guarantees all these injuries will heal. That is 2 4th quarter collapses. People, like me, hate losing winnable games, in this case a gimme win we held on to. We despise it even more when it is on our home court and we have to see the Lakers celebrate like they won a playoff games.

Point is, Thibs didn't have this team ready for the 2nd half, sure partially on the players, partially on Thibs/staff.
The defense was soft, by even some of the guys who actual played well overall. They didn't close out on open shots and assumed the lead was safe. Without that 3 pt barrage and insane 60% rate, maybe that was true.

However, the plan should have been simple at halftime, lets go out there, increase this lead in the next 8 minutes to over 30pts, and rest the remaining few rotation players the rest of the game. JB should never have seen the 4th quarter, he was tired, Hart is crumbling because he is gassed. Did you see his boxer legs in the late fourth? Props to energizer bunnies in iHart, DDV, Precious.

Also, if they had followed that plan, our garbage might have played up to their garbage and still won by 15 or more. Thibs basically said I don't trust anyone else, there was no reason to not give minutes to Jacob. If he can play well in Westchester, he can do it against the g-league team they play last night.

Closing, preseason our 9 deep was Mitch, JR, Grimes, RJ, Brunson, IQ, Hart, Donte, & iHart. If and I hope this isn't the case for too long, JB & Hart start to miss games, that would leave 2 of those 9 to play, even the replacement OG is hurt. Maybe it is minute usage, maybe it is hard nosed play, maybe is the b-ball Gods making the journey harder or all of the above. Yes, injuries happen, but this is a lot to take at one time. I hope the all-star break helps, injuries aren't too serious, we pick up a player or 2, and this team knocks doors down every stop of the way trying to grab that chip. Lets go Knicks. Next player up. 16-3

Dallas, Indy, Houston, & Orlando before a week long break in schedule. Given how banged up the team is, record for those 4 games?

Thibs needs to have this plan every game quite frankly, not sure why he doesn't. Hot seat incoming.

Dude, I give kudos and you see a bad half where was still won by 10 and you come up with a better plan?

At least we not in the "Blair Witch Breen Basement" of horrors!

My fav Knick of all time. I always appreciated how good of a shooter he was. Crazy how with the perfect spin the ball always comes back to him.
