I’m in NJ in Monmouth. Monmouth county apparently is a hot spot. Sure, I’m vaccinated and wearing a mask a lot more when out in public. But yesterday Monmouth had 143 COVID cases. That is up in the last two months, but flat for the week. I’m not going to stop living, but I will be mindful and careful. There is a lot of alarmism out there- and I am not trying to downplay it. Everyone in my family is vaccinated except my 11 year old, and I have thought- I could probably get him vaccinated since he is taller and I don’t recall any of the places actually checking my other kids ages when I brought them.

So I think if you and yours are vaccinated, it’s ok to relax a little.

Was vaccinated in April. Received both doses of Pfizer. Made sure not to expose myself. Maybe a trip every other week to grocery store while wearing a mask. Carried hand sanitizer. Tested positive on Monday. My 5 and 7 year old tested positive as well. They of course were not vaccinated. My wife, who was vaccinated, tested negative. I also have two older kids that were vaccinated and tested negative. This delta variant is so contagious. Think it will become more apparent that even vaccinated people are vulnerable to get it. Luckily, do believe that the vaccinated will have less severe symptoms.

I am feeling better the last couple of days but still have trouble doing much before getting winded. Can't imagine what I would have gone through if I was not vaccinated. Still keeping my fingers crossed that things continue to improve. Some say the 5 to 7 day is crucial. My main concern is for the kids. Today was there second day showing symptoms. Luckily mild with just a headache and mild fever. Still scary as hell. Take this **** seriously. I believe those that are saying this is as contagious as the chicken pox. It is.

I don’t think a lock down is needed except regionally by county where its hopefully can be contained. I do feel for those with children and its hard to protect them outside the house.
wife and I are not going to restaurants (indoor) now. Daughters wedding for November will go on.
Expectation is this surge will chill by the end of September.
We all saw this second or third surge coming and the Delta made it more so. Nalod and our peeps are thinking this is a 2-3 year thing. That it won’t wipe out half of humanity is a big improvement.

Thanks Nalod. Doing better. Tested Negative on Tuesday. Still trying to get wind back when doing too much but every day is a bit better. Kids are doing well and two tested negative. Florida is definitely getting worse. Kids in school are not wearing masks nor are people at stores. Where last year, they were mandates everywhere. The county I live in just went against the holy governor and is now doing mask mandates. However, most are just not concerned despite the numbers. It's become one of those things where only the ones that have been affected badly are believers. Most that get it and have a mild case only become more against mandates and vaccines. Without realizing that they were not in the demographic that is dying from it. For me, it is just the worst of human nature. Where if you are not gravely affected by something, then who cares. No thought to what if I infect someone else that may die from it.

Starksewing... you have always been a respectful poster. You always respect everyone's point of view. I have tried to do the same except when prompted by the occasional wise guy on here. But definitely will do so with you on this although we may disagree. My only observation on what you wrote is that you may want to be careful about what you wish for. Things are not as good as they seem just because they may be the opposite of some of your frustration from strict restrictions you may have faced. You are also not alone, I have spoken to several friends that live in NYC and also share the same view that Florida is where they want to be after experiencing some of the restrictions in the NYC area. They all seem to think Florida is the answer to get away and not be faced with covid restrictions. I am fortunate enough to live in both Tampa and in NYC so have some insight. A few things I can tell you is that you better be vaccinated if you want to move to Florida. Do not know how old you are but hopefully you are not past 60. Secondly, Florida has a large percentage of people that are for restrictions, mandates and masking. It's not a free for all despite what the NY news or CNN tell you. But you are right, a big part of the population could care less about infecting others or getting infected with Covid. Which is why you may want to be careful. So many are getting it including myself. When I was here last year, you hardly heard of anyone you directly knew getting it. Not the case anymore. Everyone I know seems to either know someone in their family or in their friend network that has gotten it or has gotten it themselves. It is scary and something NYC has yet to see. I am still scared to get it again despite being vaccinated and having been infected a few weeks ago. Have several friends that were vaccinated and still ended up in the hospital. Also have a doctor friend that works at a hospital in Florida and had so many stories of young guys struggling or passed away that I had to ask him to stop telling me stories. Lastly, be prepared for the uneducated down here. There are a lot of them. Good ole boys that do not care about your property, rights or ill health caused by their behavior.
I know they exist in NY as well but you will see it's just not all roses dealing with some of the rational which I feel is more antiquated than that of NYC.

Do agree that you have your right to your opinion and agree that there are so many that are just tired of all the fear, stress and adjustments caused by the virus epidemic. I am sure you have done your research and have come to your conclusions. Just think there are so many others out there that did not do any sort of vetting or research in order to come up with an educated decision. Many more have made their decisions solely based on political views or hate for an annoying neighbors point of view. Which to me is a bad way to make a decision that can gravely affect your health. So many fail to research, get info from the right sources or talk to medical professionals. My decision to get vaccinated was mostly after talking with many doctors in the family and witnessing friends be significantly affected by the virus. Also feel that so many that are against mandates seem to do it for only one reason and it usually has to do with Trump or Fox news. I can also tell you that Desantis seems to be one of the most political self serving politicians in the US. Not a big surprise as most politicians have to do the same. He is at the elite level of guys like Ted Cruz. He is also not shy about displaying his racist overtones. Just watch his debates this past election or load up some of his campaign ads. Florida is now being affected by his political loyalty. With views on becoming president some day on the coat tails of what Trump has created as his main and only goal. My hope is that you have a safe move and have a healthy life in Florida. Also hope that your life is filled with happiness and is never affected by a selfish politician who makes decisions based on political gain and not the good of its residents.

How do you feel about what the Norwegian Cruise line CEO said about Desantis? Thought that was insightful. Here is a CEo who's company's financial future depends on being able to have people cruise on his ships out of Florida and he though it was incredible to have a Governor pushing back against him trying to keep people safe by requiring vaccines to be couped up like sardines during the highest period of infections in the two year history of covid. Desantis seemed to be more worried about the money being lost and not the health of the passengers than a person that can theoretically lose his largest life investment. Do you think this is telling about Desantis? Just feel Desantis and the view that we should not wear masks or get vaccinated because we may not be in the group that gets hospitalized is selfish. Not saying you are in this category but can tell you that I have heard that excuse from most down here that refuse to get vaccinated. " I don't have to worry, I'm young and will be fine". Always ask them if they have grandparents, elderly neighbors, friends in hi risk categories. Feel the reaction is usually dishonest as they probably do not really care about those people. But again, stay safe and hope you find what you are looking for in Florida.

We all know that if Trump was still president he would be forcing states to do his will. Like Desantis is doing with school boards in Florida. Many Dems think that it would hurt Biden to do so but think many are tired of these idiots forcing hands and Dems being the good guys for fear of how an aggressive move will be perceived.
