The longer this goes on the greater the likelihood of more variants and eventually there will probably be one that is resistant to current vaccines and/or we are unable to create a vaccine for in time.

Additionally, even if the US is able to increase vaccination rates to near herd immunity level - what about the rest of the world? Are we all going to shut down international travel at some point because if unless the whole world gets vaccinated (enough) - won't a new variant just emerge and find it's way around the world eventually?

I've read a few articles which suggested that Dept of Transportation is thinking about instituting vaccination requirements for international travel. It's going to happen IMHO

Yup...the more mutations there are, the more likely one will emerge which the vaccines can't completely handle.

That's good to hear. Wonder if they will also test and institute a quarantine period since it seems vaccinated people can still pass the virus rather easily.

Warning this one is a little tough to watch. I don't feel sorry because these people make their own choices but it is tough because it brings back memories of my loved one I lost to this virus.

I saw video from inside an Italian hospital in early March 2020. I stopped going to the office a day later.

They should have been showing videos like this from the beginning.

It would have made it harder for people to pretend that everything is fine. Including the ****ing President.

I’ve. Gotten my final check up this week for health. I did dental physical and a few of the specialist I have to see. I’m now locking in—the only threat I have is my wife works w cancer patients twice a week and I have to respect she does that — otherwise. I’m setting up for lockdown for a period of time like we had a couple years ago. I’ve been active trying to warn people. — whether vaccinated or not— that we needed to be super vigilant but I’m the real world we didn’t see enough of the alarm sounding. Everyone slacked and now we’re gonna be hit again

It sure is messy out there, but I don’t know that we’re end of world times yet. If I let myself nightmare, I can sure see it.

I’m in NJ in Monmouth. Monmouth county apparently is a hot spot. Sure, I’m vaccinated and wearing a mask a lot more when out in public. But yesterday Monmouth had 143 COVID cases. That is up in the last two months, but flat for the week. I’m not going to stop living, but I will be mindful and careful. There is a lot of alarmism out there- and I am not trying to downplay it. Everyone in my family is vaccinated except my 11 year old, and I have thought- I could probably get him vaccinated since he is taller and I don’t recall any of the places actually checking my other kids ages when I brought them.

So I think if you and yours are vaccinated, it’s ok to relax a little.

My neighbor has covid right now. And was vaccinated. I think a week ago they were relaxed, but not at the moment.

All you have to do is wear a mask that will protect you from others. Not a surgical mask but one like I use an N100 mask. It has a little port that it makes breathing easier also. During the height of the initial pandemic in NY I worked a job where I came into contact with 1000 plus people a day. I know because I had to count and coordinate people exiting and entering the building to comply with the rules at the time. I just made sure to never take it off and wash my hands before I touched my face. I never caught it.

wow that's amazing.

I wish you both the best of health and safety knowing full well of your respective immunocompromised situations. Stay healthy.

Figure young kids will start the vaccines mid to late Sept. I'm guessing adult boosters will hit October.

Still going to be a long winter if variants continue

Body aches, cough, congestion, headache, and fatigue. Hopefully that’s the worst of it, and it doesn’t spread through the household.

one of my work colleagues got it from going to a trade show in vegas- vaccinated, masked- they had a migrane for a week, or at least that is how it was described. But still, I don't see how normal our new normal is going to be.
