The longer this goes on the greater the likelihood of more variants and eventually there will probably be one that is resistant to current vaccines and/or we are unable to create a vaccine for in time.

Additionally, even if the US is able to increase vaccination rates to near herd immunity level - what about the rest of the world? Are we all going to shut down international travel at some point because if unless the whole world gets vaccinated (enough) - won't a new variant just emerge and find it's way around the world eventually?

I've read a few articles which suggested that Dept of Transportation is thinking about instituting vaccination requirements for international travel. It's going to happen IMHO

That's good to hear. Wonder if they will also test and institute a quarantine period since it seems vaccinated people can still pass the virus rather easily.

I’m in NJ in Monmouth. Monmouth county apparently is a hot spot. Sure, I’m vaccinated and wearing a mask a lot more when out in public. But yesterday Monmouth had 143 COVID cases. That is up in the last two months, but flat for the week. I’m not going to stop living, but I will be mindful and careful. There is a lot of alarmism out there- and I am not trying to downplay it. Everyone in my family is vaccinated except my 11 year old, and I have thought- I could probably get him vaccinated since he is taller and I don’t recall any of the places actually checking my other kids ages when I brought them.

So I think if you and yours are vaccinated, it’s ok to relax a little.

My neighbor has covid right now. And was vaccinated. I think a week ago they were relaxed, but not at the moment.

All you have to do is wear a mask that will protect you from others. Not a surgical mask but one like I use an N100 mask. It has a little port that it makes breathing easier also. During the height of the initial pandemic in NY I worked a job where I came into contact with 1000 plus people a day. I know because I had to count and coordinate people exiting and entering the building to comply with the rules at the time. I just made sure to never take it off and wash my hands before I touched my face. I never caught it.

Body aches, cough, congestion, headache, and fatigue. Hopefully that’s the worst of it, and it doesn’t spread through the household.
