I think all that should be decided by how he does in training camp and pre-season. If he plays well and adds to winning I would play him.

Game 4 discussion on Kolek. The passing is amazing. The kid can really setup teammates. The shooting is solid but he has work to do as a scorer. He will get better, and I think he will be a solid scorer if given minutes. The bad news though is his defense has been atrocious. I saw at least three times where guys just blew by him. Thibs is not putting up with that. Kolek will have to get stronger and more disciplined on defense if he ever wants to play for Thibs.

A good summary. I think he starts the season in the G League and may play his entire rookie year there. He needs to work on his jump shot and somehow figure out how to play decent d.

They gave him an assignment for SL and tested some things. The kid held up. few teams give players that opportunity let alone a nice contract. Knicks were high on him from the get go.
I don't know if Duce is sticking or what the plan is for Payne. Seemed like a good signing over lowrey if needed.
Payne with his legal issues could easily found his way out of the league as well so smart to get a contract and stay in the show.

Knicks have depth. Quickley went into the year behind Austin Rivers. He outplayed him right away and Rivers ended up off the roster. Same thing may not happen with Kolek and Payne, but maybe it does, and that's fine. Payne is an NBA player and good depth. We ran out of PGs last year, but we're in better shape this year. We put a lot on Brunson's shoulders and we value his toughness and durability, but having depth is smart.

Kolek will play at some point next year and he's better than Arcidiacano now. I can say that confidently.

Just feels like to me that this guy has it to make it in NY. Maybe not right away but he got that figure-out gene with some attitude
