My gut says OKC wants a bloated short term deal. They don’t strike me as a team that would give a non shooting C 100++ million. And it’s likely he’s not guaranteed to start. A longer 4 year deal at lesser money might be preferred because it’s no guarantee without a big starting role that he’d get another big contract.

What do think of bamba? His career never took off but he's huge (but slow) and can shoot a bit.
There's still bitatze, Tillman, Theis, eubanks and Bryant that could be servicable for next to nothing salary cap wise.

Bamba was so good that the 76ers brought in Drummond. I'd prefer a guy like Goga or Eubanks if it came down to that

Is OKC offering a team option? That seems to be an unfriendly offer:

Andrew Schlect, who covers the Thunder for the Athletic, floated the possibility of a three-year deal with a third year team option where the average annual value is north of $20 million.

The longer he takes to make a decision the better for us. The only thing OKC has over us is money and if money was the main factor the deal would be done already.

No iHart deal with OKC yet and Orlando seems out of running after signing Pope. I agree with the beat writer - OKC has so many extensions down the road they probably wanted a short term deal and iHart is not gonna finish games much of the time. Longer deal and bigger role in NY.

Part of me wonders if Bitaze at 1/3rd of the price is a better deal for us though.

So the thunder had 30.5mil. Both contracts add up to an average of 21.4 mil but that means nothing. We need to know the starting salary. When the cap guys wake up they will tell us.

^ OKC would have bird rights on Wiggins, so presumably they can wait to use their cap space first and then ink his contact afterwards. Not sure they had rights on Joe after signing him off waivers?
