Records are not always predictors to the outcome.
They are getting healthy and on paper team is starting to emerge.
Its along season and they are not the same as the team we played in October. Nor are we for that matter.
Its the NBA, parity exists.
Sorry but I actually live down here in Florida these days (Tampa Bay) and there's nothing for me to respect (as an NBA fan) about an Orlando team that's 10 games below .500 and the 3rd worst team within the entire Eastern Conference (only better than DET/CHA tank teams).Let's be real here Nalod.
Heaven forbid our Knicks were the 13th seed with all of our "great young talent" our NYC Fan Base would attack the head coach (after every single game) and also attack our players for playing non-efficient basketball.
Funny how Knicks fans give Orlando "patience" to develop young talent but when it comes to our extremely young team with kids like R.J. Barrett?
Different story, now isn't it?
Fans have been super patient with RJ. 4 years patient. Just hoping for some better basketball.
Funny would be thinking RJ is like Kobe.
10 games below .500.
3rd worst team within the Eastern Conference.
13th seed. NYC fans who be screaming to blow it up, fire the head coach and trade away the entire roster for a real Superstar.
You know it.
And I know it.
You buggin'. I would take Banchero or Wagner 10/10 over RJ. The Magic aren't outright tanking and are giving teams fits. I would trade their ceiling for the Knicks ceiling right now. Not only is that team getting valuable experience for it's youth, but their in line to add more cheap young talent in the draft. Or maybe they trade their assets for a vet and make the next step.
You're the one bugging. The Knicks are being led by two All-Star Caliber players in Jalen Brunson/Julius Randle alongside of extremely young talent in Immanuel Quickley, Quentin Grimes, R.J. Barrett, Obi Toppin & Mitchell Robinson (+ Deuce McBride and Jericho Sims).
The Knicks have a much higher ceiling along with a boat load of future 1st round picks too.
Orlando:
Offensive Rating = 25th.
Defensive Rating = 21st.
Net Rating = 26th.
Turnover Percentage = 26th.
Please stop overrating this Orlando teams "future".
Orlando has mad upside. This team, in it's current form has maxed out it's potential.
Not even close
Not even close to what? The fourth seed? The second round of the playoffs? This team is mid as it currently stands and needs more talent. There's not much separating us from the Toronto and Bulls of the world right now.
Fulfilling potential.
R.J. Barrett = 22.
Quentin Grimes = 22.
Deuce McBride = 22.
Immanuel Quickley = 23.
Obi Toppin = 24.
Isaiah Hartenstein = 24.
Jericho Sims = 24.
Mitchell Robinson = 24.
Average age = 23.1
But yet we've got fans both acting and pretending as if these kids have maxed out their potential and won't continue to develop until 26-28 years of age? It's mind boggling for me and I can't understand nor comprehend.
Heck.
Our 2 All-Star Caliber players in Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle are only 26 and 28 years of age (not 35 and 38 like Kevin Durant and LeBron James etc).
And on top of all our youth we've got a boat load of 1st round draft picks hidden in the chamber as well?
Yeah.
Right.
Okay.
"Maxed out".
You make a compelling argument, but the fear with youth is not that they won’t max out, it’s that they won’t develop fully during their contract term, forcing the economic question whether to pay for their further development and how much. How much does IQ get in free agency? How much is he worth here in this role? Thing is that another team should offer him a full MLE and a starting role in the offense. We have middling stars right now that are playing well, but nothing elite. Until we find elite, we are in that 11-20 draft slot. It’s kind of the doldrums. Youth is blocked by middling stars and their high usage so an IQ can’t get the playing time to show out as a Dame Lillard type. Draft picks are middling so they can’t really command a larger role. So, we need a little luck and maybe some smooth dealing to fill in the blanks here and pull this team together.
Good points and the conundrum many teams face.
RJ to some has been given the time and despite his youth, opinion by some is he is who he is. Where McBride is just a month younger has a world of upside.
Take a step back and its obvious if knick are to keep picks not all will be resigned or will be traded.
Fans love the dunkers. OBI really has not progressed beyond the highlight reel and when he gets hot from the outside.
It does not bother me he can’t supplant allstar randle, but that he might only fetch a 2nd round pick in return.
But then you have Deuce, IQ and Grimes outplaying their draft status. That’s important.
Orlando did well with Fultz, but Suggs seems to not be rising to his draft pick status. Many teams have this. its not just a knick thing.
Sims was great doing what he does. The Oop from RJ and his dunk fed from Brunson were key baskets. they were assists late in the game. We fans tend to focus on stereotype knicks don’t pass in the 4th quarter. They do.
TWas a very satisfying 4th quarter last night!
