Yeah probably after they trade Fournier… which will occur long after we as fan accuse them of being stupid for not doing it earlier, when getting value for Fournier will be their priority as long as him starting doesn’t hurt the team.

Injuries happen during the season, and some of these guys look like they're worth stashing in the G-league. So many roster spots.

Have really enjoyed watching the progression of our 3 Rookies from last year in Quentin Grimes, Deuce McBride and Jericho Sims thus far (throughout our 1st two showings).

Grimes really looks comfortable out there in SL. He still has to earn Thibbs’ trust but I could see him beating out Fournier for starting spot by January. I doubt Thibbs puts Evan on the bench to start but if the defense struggles, I think we see Grimes starting by January.

If only coach Thibs had the knowledge on how to counter opponents offense/defense attack like the young SL Knicks players has done in both their SL games.
I'm luving the Knicks SL 8 Man rotation team-hustle on both sides of the court.
And the Knicks team-ball chemistry on DEFENSE (Is better than anything coach Thibs ever put together).
The trio-backcourt of McBride, Grimes, and Keels has been out-performing opponents, and Hunt, Jefferies, and Montero 2-Way hustle has been dynamic. Plus Potter's intimidation by blocking shot on the glass, and Mr. Jericho Sims is the MAN !!!

Keels only 18 still - turns 19 in August.

Right now seems more comfortable with ball in his hands off pick / roll.

Could see this kid continuing to get stronger —- drop 10-12 pounds, really work on his conditioning and in 2 years going into an age 21 season….maybe being a legit player.

Get little flashes of Kyle Lowry and Randy Foye…..maybe more Foye.

Him being in his early 20’s before playing for the big team makes sense. The Knicks are not interested in teenagers unless their talent in undeniable . Everyone else needs to work to earn minutes.

Randle & Barrett's poor weak-weak defense for the past 3 seasons needed Payton & Bullocks experience on switch-defense to cover-up for Randle & Barrett's poor team-defense habits in a lineup. Plus having lots of help from center MitchRob's inside/outside defense in the 2020-21 season.

Randle & Barrett been in the Knicks starter lineup to have a 21-45 season, then a 41-31 season, then a 37-45 season, both being the Knicks most minute played players each season.

The trio of Brunson, Barrett and Randle in the starter lineup equal a trio of weak defense, in which Knicks opponents will pick & screen on offense to get center MitchRob on the perimeter to take Brunson, or Barrett, or Randle one on one for an easy basket. Grimes is to young and raw to cover up for all Randle & Barrett's bad defensive habits. And Cam Reddish is to lazy. And Fournier's a perimeter shooter !!!

Grimes passing game out of PNR is so intriguing. I envisioned a glorified Reggie Bullock(who was an impactful wing for a WCF team) but I think theres a lot more. We need to make sure this kid plays.

Sims taking care of business on and off the court

Looking around people social media and it seems like Grimes and Sims are getting the most praise. People are still underrating McBride. I seen someone point out that no matter where McBride plays G-League, Summer League or the NBA he always has one of the top +/- stats. Even last year when his shot was broke in the NBA he was always had a good +/-. Everything he does promotes winning. It is amazing to me that some people don't see it.

Like earlier in this thread I said a negative about Hunt gambling too much. McBride gambles a lot too but when he does it he does not go so far out of position that he destroys the Knicks defensive rotations. McBride kills teams plays almost every time down the court and does not get out of position to do it. If he ever figures out how to breakdown the defense he will legit take a bigger talent leap than people realize. Right now he is using mid range step backs to mitigate him not being able to get by his man.

I've been pleasantly surprised and very entertained watching these youngsters ball out. Sims is a man amongst boys...as is Grimes. McBride is obviously a future NBA point guard who is getting better and better and I can see him pairing up with Brunson full time in a year or so. I've been impressed with Hunt and Jefferies, and think Hunt might become a baller in the NBA. I like Montero's skill set and energy, but he is still very raw and is a few years away from the final product. It's good to see depth players developing into pros. Just been a lot of fun to watch.

I also just remembered something that left me puzzled. During the game yesterday the commentators said something that made me know they have no idea what the yare talking about. They said that the Knicks need good culture players. You can say a lot about us but we don't have a culture problem. The only player last season that was not good for culture was Randle. I hope he can fix whatever was his issue last season. Thibs is our head coach and he will not allow for a bad culture overall. Clueless basketball people think that if you don't win that your culture is automatically bad. We won less games than the Nets and our culture is infinitely better than theirs. Even with Randle playing like trash, if Rose does not get hurt last year I think we have a good season.

Also seemed to me in yesterday’s broadcast the commentary, the interviews, clips, etc. were mostly about the Bulls, the Warriors, the Kings, even the Nets - basically any team but the one on the court winning a blow out.

Sims/McBride/Grimes is like a AAAA team. Not quite major league yet but too good for minors. These guys just ate up that Bulls team.

The first game was much worse as the Knicks were handily beating the Warriors. The talking heads praised every nuance of the Warriors as if the Knicks weren't even there and handing the Warriors their ass on a plate. Yesterday they were a little better when playing the Bulls and they actually noticed Sims and acted as if he was actually a ball player for a change. Very frustrating.

Knicks are the Rodney Dangerfield of the NBA!

Good to see Sims making moves. As said, this is what SL is for. If he is to remain in the league he has to be able to take his man. The three year deal is nice and gives him room to get better. Thats it.
Deuce? He no doubt should be doing this at SL as he was in the Gleague. I dont’ see him in the rotation but he is fulfilling the timeline of progress as was hoped. Interview with one of his college coaches last year thought he’d be sitting but learnng for a while. Thats cool. No rush.
And yet tomorrow he could be traded. Are we over rating him? Fans can get excited. Not a bad thing!

Grimes and Sims look really good. Grimes passing has been outstanding! And Sims is too good to be a 3rd string imo. I honestly would have just given him that backup C spot over signing Hartenstein. Or even S&T Mitch for something and go with Hartenstein, Sims and Obi at Center.

We should be good if we get EOYR (every other year Randle)
