I’d like to focus on positive. Where we live it seems many are adhering to shut down rules. My hope is that in 8 weeks this will flush through and we have a decent summer while we prepare for a comeback this fall.( which hopefully won’t materialize) it’s going to be a long term hit financially to the nation but we’ve been through it before.

I’m looking forward to baseball season the nba draft some decent summer days and I pray for my friends family and everyone else to be at peace happy and healthy. Humans have gone through worse — well come out ok!

About the same for her. Low to mid-range fever. She basically feels sickly, but blood oxygen good, no cough, no trouble breathing. If it stays at this level she'll be ok. I’m still symptom-free.

Fingers crossed- hope it continues to be mild and you both develop immunity, should hopefully make the next few months a bit less scary if you do

Total lack of leadership from everyone in government. What do they care. All are filthy rich and can bail if it gets to hot. The infection rate curve is basically a 45% angle. Without some type of miracle we will be over run within 2 weeks

Not gonna lie man it's really hard. I work in one of the biggest cardiac surgery centres in the country and things are really rough. I'm a cardiac surgeon but I've been working from the ICU for 2 months now.

I started showing symptoms yesterday so I'm going to stay away from work for 7 days. That's the hardest part because I'd much rather be there helping out.

We've been working 13 hours a day for the past month and it's going to escalate from there. All leave is cancelled and our entire rota has been revamped so that we have extra doctors on call stall times.

I'm just hoping my bout is mild so I can get back out there.

I'm self isolating alone (good thing about being divorced lol) and my son is also self isolating because he has Crohn's so takes steroids.

I just want to stress again over and over how important it is not to underestimate this thing. Stay home. Wash your hands. Care for the vulnerable. Stay safe.

I know everyone has employment and money fears right now. It's really scary. But we have to worry about the health of the people first. Hopefully the government's of the world will support those who struggle in the short term. Here in the UK mortgages have been covered and eviction has been banned. People in gig economy can work in food/supply delivery which is obviously booming. Just please, prioritise the health and safety of the greater global community.

Stay safe. If anyone needs any advice let me know.

You take care, Firefly, thank you for the info

While Italy has an older population, maybe worsening hints, the worry for the US is how obesity impacts the mortality rate of the virus, along with diabetes and asthma.

That’s part of the problem though, people in their 20s might be huge spreaders of this because they tend to be so asymptomatic and therefore oblivious that they have it.

Yeah, it was a decent adaptation. Had a huge crush on Laura San Giacomo, who was in that movie. Goes to show that mother nature is far more inventive and scarier than anything we can come up with in the human imagination.

People on the front line:

Today broke my heart.
Today I picked up scrubs and repurchased the clogs that got me through residency and fellowship. No more clothes or shoes that go home.
Today I had colleagues get tested for CoVid.
Today I talked about advanced directives with every ICU doctor I know.

Today we came up with plans for our kids and our pets.
Today we shared our emergency contacts.
Today we talked about our “break the glass” scenario when we stop going home.

Today I had colleagues tell me that they’ve decided they’d rather die at home rather than come in and traumatize their colleagues who would have to care for them.
Today we came up with contingency plans for our contingency plans.
Today broke my heart.

thanks man. that’s the hoped-for scenario. i think i developed it too yesterday. suddenly became tired, listless, feverish, achy, just wanted to sit on couch (not hungover btw 😉), stomach ache. I’m a 10,000-step a day guy and took 500 yesterday. just giving detail for baseline reporting. I couldn’t get tested when my gf did because of not having symptoms yet. would love for us to go through mild versions of it. reading some conflicting reports on how sure you can be you’re immune after that though and won’t be transmitting it.

I thank you for sharing what you going thru. I did get an oximeter thingy in the event it darkens me or family in the area.
I Hope its mild and your over it with good results. Weird how fast the tone of all this turns so dire. Just days away we were repulsed by Spike Lees injustice and now we stand in the face of death for some and social upheaval. If we can blame Mills for 20 years of knick failure, we can certainly blame Asians, African Americans, Mexican decent, and eventually the Jewish conspiracy for our problems.
None of this is Trumps fault but he will be judged as have all leaders when faced with a crisis. Some leaders are better than others when it comes to the job at hand.
We don’t know each other well but the few hours we spend some 10 years ago left with with the impression your a healthy intelligent person who I’m confident will prevail thru your affliction. Best wishes for a healthy outcome! Scary times.

Not worried about economy. This country was literally bankrupted in 2008 Worse than people know.
Economy is flexible. Human life is what’s important here. Getting rid of virus and saving lives. All other stuff can work itself out.

We’re not going back to normal

Social distancing is here to stay for much more than a few weeks. It will upend our way of life, in some ways forever.

Under this model, the researchers conclude, social distancing and school closures would need to be in force some two-thirds of the time—roughly two months on and one month off—until a vaccine is available, which will take at least 18 months (if it works at all). They note that the results are “qualitatively similar for the US.”

We were told the same...Are you a teacher?

Yes. In upstate ny.

Didn't know I had a fellow teacher here...I teach just outside Atlanta....

awesome! I teach 2nd grade outside of atlantic city ( I know as a teacher I should capitalize but hey I like the freedom of no doing so once in awhile)! it is a different world. I had to go in Friday and make packets since my kids do no have the technology for true remote learning. so they have that and I try to make videos on classdojo to keep them updated. it is wild though. we got word that we wont get back until april 20th the earliest but a bigger rumor is that we wont be back at all.

Don’t blame them all. It’s the god damn president messing up.

I don’t think it’s necessary to find a cure.
If they can find drugs to alleviate symptoms where only a very few become severely sick— it might just be better to go back living as is. The Spanish flu lasted 2 years— it was WAY worse abd people have shaken hands since that time.

Even during thAt pandemic there were periods of safety. We need to stay on it hard but I don’t think people should avoid life for the next 5 years. I think history of the world shows that.
