I agree the administration is mostly different. But Mills has some deep deep Dolan roots.

Nobody wanted Derrick Williams when we signed him. He's probably going to get 10 mill per anyway. We could only offer him 6... let it go. The Knicks will find a capable replacement.... Probably Lance Thomas.

Remember that these teams have to spend at least $84 million of the $94 million cap.

They can hold onto their cap room to use in mid-season trades. Philly has done that before, like when they got Javale McGee and a pick for cap room at the trade deadline.

If they don't get to the salary floor, they just pay the players on their roster more... so they don't HAVE to...

This is true but after D.Williams had a year that showed that the kid does have some good basketball skills i would think that there will be more than one team that will make him a offer.

Yes he was but had absolutely nothing to do with player personnel, he was working for Madison Square Garden operations.

I have heard conflicting things on this. He was deeply involved with the Isiah era. He's in a more direct role now - but he was COO of MSG and oversaw all sports related activities there and even then was known as Dolan's right hand man. I think it's safe to assume he in the room for a lot of basketball decisions.

I don't think it's safe to assume anything that you don't have any real truth to. S.Mills' name never was even heard of until a few years ago and he had nothing to do with the personnel department at all.

Obviously I'm not expecting him to be as good as the healthy Noah was. You're comparing $72 to 22 mil in cost. I think Noah's age, injuries, and trajectory make this too dangerous a gamble. Aldrich is a legit part of a 9 man rotation. For the record, I would not have traded Rolo for Rose. So Aldrich would just be a backup.

Noah should do wonders for the fluidity of the offense in addition to his vocal leadership. Even diminished he has the right mix of talents for the way this team wants to play. People are making a bit too much of his decline when IMO they aren't going to be relying on Noah to be what he once was. His defense, assist and rebounding are still good enough to help this team. His mentorship and passion is infectious and much needed.
Younger guys are going to play and he can help them.
