Fair enough. I like Phil's tweets (just like I like Durants new 'telling it like it is' stance with the media)- I'd rather hear stuff from them than PR fluff or no comments. However I also get why people would say, 'well this is the team and coach you made'. Don't even know if his comments were aimed at the team or JR

So do you just like Phil's tweets in general, or these specifically? Because they made no goddamn sense to me, down to his use of "smh"

If he's taking a shot at his team, it's not like he's challenging a Kobe-type of player.

If's he's calling out Smith and Shumpert, that's fair I guess. But I hope he's looking ways to make sure players do their best here and not rely on the karmic powers of the "basketball gods"... especially if he has the gall to think he's in the pantheon. If he has heartburn, take a Tums and do your job better.

He knows football and follows the league intently since day one of his show as well. Francesca may be short tempered, arrogant and lazy at times but he's also the most knowledgeable and well connected sports talk host on the air. He built the industry as sports talk is nationwide now.

I agree with you. His knowledge is second to none his recollection of facts is second to none. I want to give the Dog some credit too not the smartest tool in the shed but he was part of the making of the show. Now it's a little bland without a sidekick.

gunsnewing wrote:No Doc I agree with you. Francesa is clueless regarding the nba. I would not take his opinions seriously. However its been proven he has Garden sources. That's why I said there might be some truth to what Bob Raismann is saying

Where has it been proven he has Garden sources?

He constantly breaks new like when he went on with Joe & Evan to break that the Rangers fired Torterella. He heard it directly from someone in the Garden.

May very well be Dolan who he sucks up to now or one Dolans people.

Dolan may very well be using Mike as an avenue to try to silence Phil

Or, Franchesca has lost his mole and now thinks being the first on the "Phuck PHil" bandwagon is good for ratings and will lead the charge so he too can be "Yeah, I was the first to tell you this would not work!!!"!!!

So the story is since Franchesca has never been critial and how has then Dolan is using him as a mouthpiece and thus Dolans goal is to do what? Begin a tension filled environment where he wants Phil out and make life hard, sort of kicking him to curb as he did Larry Brown?

Or dolans medication wear off and now he is wakes up to the fact the team sucks? Was this not ever discussed? Im not gonna connect the dots, but this is kind of an easy assumption.

Seems like readers eat this crap up and run with it. They have dumbed down sports media to this level?

I pay a guy 60mil its not hard to call up Phil on the cell and ask "what was that about?" What if it was aimed for JR and Shump?

Personally we know Phil is a rebel and a mind phuching Jedi priest all while being an arrogant prick. How do you not love a guy like that??????

What we know:

1. Phil signed Melo. Could be he thinks Melo could fit in nicely as a part of a good team or Dolan said: "Do what everyou want but we sign Melo", and phil agreed.
2. Seems the worst thing is PHil took on Jose Caledron's 7mm per year contract. Hardley a team killer nor an untalented guard. TheraFluTyson was cooked and only on a good team would he be having a good season.
3. Shoulda woulda coulda dumped Shump last year but didn't he get hurt at trade deadline? Phil came in March. Not all on him but he might have been sort of behind not getting Lowrey.
4. If Fish went elsewhere and succeeded y'all be on it like Kerr too!!!! Be honest there. 10 wins don't make anyone look good.
5 He has hired his cronies. They win. He didn't hire Oak. Oak never distinguished himself anywere ofter playing. His cronies have bling. You bring who you know and trust.
6. Triangle is antiquated. 5 years since his last ring.
7. If you dont' have Jordan or Kobe, you can't win. Jordan was not jordan until he got with phil. Kobe was not Kobe, but very raw arrogant kid. So basically when PHil went to Chicago his juice card was empty and had to work it with Jordan. With Kobe he had the pull to say "I know what you want, I can help you". He saw the potential in Kobe and took the job. Not join Kobes winning machine.

Thats it. The rest lies in starphuched cries.

Absolutely. Dog's enthusiasm is certainly missed. A shame Mike had to make it like he was the show and should be paid way more when their pay should be close to equal. Dog got a good deal from Sirius. Unfortunately for him thats like radio Siberia

Here's the guy who most likely is Francesa's source on both the Rangers & Knicks..

Barry Watkins - Executive Vice President, Communications & Administration - Madison Square Garden

wow he looks like complete DOUCHE

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Gumble got his start at NBC doing the Football Show..Think it was called NFL75 and would change with the current year..He was doing the NFL post game rundown before ESPN..

Disagree. I believe that he started out as a College Basketball Analyst for CBS working things like the NCAA tournament. While he certainly is well connected....IMO he is not that Knowledgeable beyond MLB, Horse Racing and the NFL (somewhat). The reason for this is that he (admittedly) does not use the internet for research and does not understand statistics/sabremetrics or salary cap implications in any sport. His talking points generally come from the Daily News and NY Post sports pages.

I personally find his show very dull since the Maddog left. While Dog was not knowledgeable either.....his rapport with Mike was great and gave the show interest.

Nothing was more entertaining on the old show when "the Sports Doctor" would go on vacation and leave Dog alone at the mike... with no guests, no producers, nothing. You'd get two or three hours of Dog just ranting and spitting anti-Yankee vitriol into into the air unintelligibly. Which was actually a Godsend most of the time.

Yes, Mike and Dog. Listening to them play "Guess the Golf TV Ratings" every week was truly ground breaking stuff. Dog was the incredibly Dumb and Dumber to Mike's (supposedly) Beautiful (in his own) Mind.

Now it's just great that when some caller comes on, like immediately after Mike's "putting garbage on the court" rant and reminded him that he's the greatest sportstalk host ever....when he's awake. That was priceless. And Mike's such a pompous, self-important azz, he couldn't even take the joke.

Yankees, Giants, horseracing, big time college sports and golf. I wouldn't trust Mike Francessa to tell me anything about the NBA other than how many games are played in a regular season. He knows that by heart.

What a pair of deranged tools.

I can't figure out this about fans and media....
