Shumpert isnt all world on defense, really no player is. it still takes help to guard, but he is without a doubt our best defender. Folks arent lighting him up on a every game basis. he's better than folks are willing to admit.

You would think a player like him would be appreciated after the guards who've come through here the past 15yrs

He has been in ny for awhile and he has struggled. The guy obviously works on his body. It would be nice if he worked on finishing at the basket and if he could hit his shot with some consistency.

Shumpert has been decent from 3 in every season he's been in the league, and certainly gives effort on defense. he helps in rebounding and has no issue passing the basketball.

Sometimes you just have to realize what players are. At least he knows he needs to work on finishing, but until then...keep on driving and not settle.

Maybe I made a mistake. I know he shot under 40% from the field overall last year. What did he shoot from three?

33% last year
40% the previous year

I thought it was poor last year. 33% for a two guard isn't going to cut it in the triangle.

2011-2012 30.6%
2012-2013 40.2%
2013-2014 33.3%

The fact he shot 40% during his injury riddled

Season but following it with low 30s healthy season

Is the truth teller

If he were to finish at 40% this season then

Maybe there is something there but no he has not been

A good 3pt shooter

After six games, we already have a -45 point differential (2nd worst in the conference). Teams are beating up on us and it's ugly.

True....Our pacing is so damn slow as well...We do not push the tempo, and when we happen to stumble into a triangle set, it takes us so long to get a look at the basket...

Right but he's shown improvement in not only his 3's but 2's as well. Not everyone is stephen curry straight out of college

His percentages were 40% his rookie year, 39% his soph year, and 38% last year. I think he is shooting better this year but the improvement hasn't been there prior.

But, no one will sign here if we're atrocious, which we are right now. We also lost our best chance to rebuild when we traded Tyson for Dalembert, Calderon, and a 2nd and refused to deal with Chicago. We possibly could have gotten 4 1st round picks in last year's loaded draft from OKC and Chicago if we had played our cards right and instead we attempted to improve the team this year. Sure, Calderon is hurt but as much as I like him he isn't single-handedly turning around this team. (And don't talk to me about Bargnani.)

Tyson probably brought us our best value mid-season last year. Clubs were knocking on the door with deals. I think most fans thought it was a bad idea, but most fans are slow to come to grips with asset management time frames. By the time most fans are coming to grips with the urgency of a situation, the opportunity has already passed. Tyson's value to be dealt was highest then. Not pulling the trigger then was a mistake. This team could have also had Lowry plus extra picks and additional quality rookie talent THIS YEAR.

prescience is vital if you want to stay ahead. a rather solipsistic statement but nonetheless true, perhaps axiomatic.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

This quote, this post and the emotional NY fans that agree with this quick assessment is why the Knicks are in this mess. With no patients, there's no rebuild. Just jerk reaction moves to keep emotional fans like this happy. As long as the knicks have fans like this, they will continue to be in this mess....Regardless of the management turnover. Lets hope Phil doesn't fall into the same jerk reaction moves as his historical peers. These types of fans are the ones paying the high ticket dollar, which is why they actually run the organization. And why the knicks haven't resembled consistency for over 30 years.

come on man the melo trade was classic knee jerk!
