Action of one man, even an owner are not the reason to punish the whole organization.

I think he is no better or worse than any other racist anywhere in the world. He is definitely in the position as an owner and in the social circles he frequents (implied from his comments) that a racist comment from him would seem 10 times magnified.

I live in the South (Atlanta) and there's racist idiots here everywhere. I can only imagine how it is in the smaller towns where people can be even more ignorant and uneducated. You should have seen the disparate reactions on the treyvon martin case as well. The sensible people... doesn't matter what race they are... they go about their business. Thankfully, the baby boomers will be gone soon. That might spell the beginning of the end of racism (hopefully) in America.

So I listened to the whole clip and he did not say anything to me that would make me go "wow what the ****" if a man or woman on the street said that. Maybe I have become a bit numb to it being an immigrant and having experienced different levels of racism from some ignorant Americans (different races too). Like I said... his comments are definitely 10 times more magnified. With great power comes great responsibility and he's obviously a very poor candidate to be able to handle that power.

We can all sit here and say that oh we all think his comments are despicable and he should be removed and Adam Silver should do something about it etc. But here's our chance for some action....

I am personally boycotting watching the entire playoffs altogether.... at a minimum. No ESPN highlights. No NBA TV game time... nothing. Dead Silence on the TV as far as NBA is concerned. Easy enough to do and maybe YOU can persuade 5 other people to do so... we may be able to start an actual movement to hit them where it hurts... ratings and money. Force Adam Silver's hand to doing something.... quickly. And even if they do something quickly, still boycott watching the playoffs or going to playoff games so that this becomes something even more serious for the NBA to think about long term.

so because there are a lot of bigots all over the place and racist, it is ok then? Don't understand your thinking here, the NBA is a league with a union and other owners.. that is a problem for a man who owns a team in a league with other owners with investments at risk.. sorry that don't cut it.. if he wants to continue being this way fine, but not in this league.... let him sell the team and take is BS elsewhere...

getting rid of him is not hurting the organization at all... but even so the NBA is bigger than the clippers franchise...

I want the whole "culture" exposed, the "so they don't have to call me" exposed. Who is they? How much influence do "they" have? How many rich people are apart of this culture? How much and what type of influence do they have in our society? IMO that's the bigger issue.

We will probably never reach that level though as money can hide a lot of things. Hopefully the girlfriend has some other inside info on his associates.

Sterling is a produce of the culture, the root of the problem is the culture.

This has to be the classiest response to racism I've ever seen. Football player Dani Alves has a banana thrown at him from the crowd...

Can you imagine what the draft will be like once they interview the Clipper's draft pick and he flatly says I am not playing for that team. They gotta get rid of this guy.

Sterling is alleged to be self-made. The culture he was raised in did not involve an ivory tower, so I don't think that his behavior is necessarily a reflection of the well-to-do....but it probably is.

He and his wife were estranged. I suspect that she'll push for a full-fledged legal separation now that she has ammunition against him. The LA Rochelle Sterling's does have a ring to it, lol.

There was some earlier discussion about whether Sterling was having this conversation over the phone or if he was bugged. He must've been bugged because in the beginning of the audio, you hear him ask for juice from Stiviano and he ends up with a glass of juice.

Also, a little quote that jumped out at me: "it isn't a question- we don't evaluate right and wrong, live in a society. We live in a culture. We have to live in that culture." Sound suspicious much? If we don't evaluate right and wrong, then who does? The illumaniti! I wish playa2 was still around to get to the bottom of this. I really do miss the dude.

Who's "we"? And when "we" are done evaluating (and establishing) right and wrong, on what basis is it done? Do "we" get to vote on the issue?
You ask great questions, but then wonder if a banned rabid conspiracy theorist would have the answer(s).

I for one, can't believe IWG hasn't weighed in yet. Apologies if he already did, and I missed it.

What's worse, invasion of privacy or being a public bigot? I happen to think bigotry is worse. Should I keep that to myself?
Is everyone entitled to hold their own private racial predjudices, as long as they do it in the privacy of their own homes?
So predjudice is okay, but racism isn't?

Sterling was apparently the victim of bigotry as a young lawyer. He still had no problem discriminating against people of color on a massive scale. He discriminated against people who were going tbrough the same thing he went through, if not worse. I hope they force him to sell the team.

"We"? "WE"?!?!The ominous "we". "WE"!!!!! That's who. Now excuse me while I go read the National Enquirer. But before I do....

I think that a man is free to believe what he wants to believe, publicly or privately. The only issue I have is if those beliefs are exercised or used in a manner to infringe on someone else's ability for self-determination. Like I said before, I don't necessarily have a problem with what Sterling said. Yeah, it pisses me off but he's free to think the way he does unless those comments are somehow put into action.

I agree.

Its a very slippery slope to start punishing people for what they said to their girl friend. This would seem like a blatant violation to free speech.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

I agree, with his right to feel how he does.. but to express that and it has been documented that he has acted upon it as well, in such a position of power is the problem.. The NBA is a league with a union, there are other owners with a vested interest in how each team conducts business.... As a fan I could care less about that douchebag, but for the players and the owners, they are part of a league in which there is an owner, a man in a position of great power, with views and practices that are now causing big problems..
