triangle offense = bye bye blockhead woodson.
Nixluva is posting triangle screen grabs, even when nobody asks - Fishmike. LOL So are we going to reference that thread like the bible now? "The thread of Wroten Page 14 post 9" - EnySpree

Phil's system is based on player movement!!! It's also good for this team because we don't have to wait on the miracle PG. The Triangle isn't predicated on great PG play. It's one of the best aspects of the system. He's never had a great PG and didn't need one. I think he'd know how to get the most out of a kid like Shump and if not we still wouldn't have a need for a pure PG if we switch to the Triangle offense.

Phil is all about fundamentals and that's gonna be huge for the players on this team. We've seen so much DUMB BB that it's hard to imagine how much better they would play with sound fundamentals and playing smarter.

he had 2 of the greatest players of all time, both of them capable ball handlers with IQ's through the roof, he doesn't have that luxury with the knicks

I would say 4 players... and I would rank Shaq higher than Kobe. Considerably.

Huge difference

the guy is a business man, he always admits that he doesn't know all that much about the day to day ops, he's biggest flaw is that he continues to hire bad ppl give them freedom, then takes it back, stays loyal to dimwits..and he always sounds like he's drunk

He said that he wouldn't necessarily mandate that the next coach run the triangle. Jackson was talking about what he wants to see regardless of the system as long as there is a system in place. Was very glad to hear this.

Yes we all know that, but it doesn't change the fact that it's not reliant on the PG to initiate everything. There are so few great PG's that can lead a team. You just need great player movement and make very short passes to cutters or to open shooters. If you study the offense you'd see that you don't have to make spectacularly difficult passes in this offense.

This is an interesting video of the Lakers facing a top defense and running the Triangle. The main thing is the passing and player movement. Not a lot of standing around or looking for ISO. Not a lot of PG heavy dribbling either. Just get the ball moving and make cuts or curls, some screens, give and go. Big men making passes too.

This off-season is going to be tough for Big Chief Triangle. We are over the cap. The only way to get diff players is via trades. In Phil we trust.

knicks1248 - Dolan is no business man. He was born into a wealthy family. Huge difference.

Throughout his early adult life Dolan battled drug and alcohol problems and was reportedly known for having a volatile temper. In 1993 he was sent to drug rehabilitation at the Hazelden clinic in Center City, Minnesota.

After originally pursuing a career in music, Dolan eventually switched to a major in communications at SUNY New Paltz and began working for Cablevision in various capacities including sales before eventually being dispatched to Cleveland by his father to manage the launching of a sports radio station. In 1995 he was made CEO of Cablevision.

Dolan is not important anymore. He is delegating.

Deep pockets, good cash flow, we got our own minor league team, no debt to pay off and a guy promoting culture and a system.

He is now a good owner. We can't undo the past.

my thought exactly. Follow the George model. OK to put pressure on folks to perform, those paychecks come with some responsibility, but he's gotta step back and let the sports people do their jobs. Seems like thats his new plan.

Good for him. He back off and lets Phil run things. Its a great shield for Dolan and the fans. Good for all parties

Phil called Tyson old? I don't like that. No need to remind teams about his age and how he maybe wearing down.

When Clyde was interviewing him, Phil ask Clyde if he remembered when Tyson thanked his teammates for letting everyone get by them during his DPOY speech. Phil then said that "that got old and Tysons getting older" and that he wanted to have a team where everyone put in a defensive effort.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.
