I wanna know who thought Chandler would put a team with no guards over the top. Made no sense. The Melo trade would have been fine if we protected the pick (we didn't). The pick should have been protected bc what if you end up like SA in the Duncan year. That team was good but Robinson, Elliot, Johnson, and others got hurt so they sucked. I know the other players are young but they aren't bringing a ton to the table. Nice pieces to have though, but we wouldn't have them at this point.

I completely agree. The Melo trade was not the root cause. Everything that followed was. The Melo trade was a normal trade in which you give up a lot to get a perennial all-star player (i will avoid the word 'star' for sake of argument.) We had Fields (all-rookie team), Billups (big expiring), Turiaf (quality center at the time), Douglas (up and coming 2-way player off the bench) and our 2011 draft pick. Good management could have continued to build with that. Then we use amnesty on Billups (even though CP3 gave every indication joining Melo in NY was a possibility) and suddenly are left with Chandler (who as a player alone is great), a declining Amare (stuck with his contract), shumpert, and young players who aren't developing (Fields, Douglas, Walker, etc), to go along with Melo. We could have easily maintained flexibility and continued to build with our assets or flipped them (fields, douglas) for future assets if thats the route some prefer. Could have built with Melo much differently.

Imagine last summer having no contracts on the books besides Melo, TH Jr, Shumpert. Could have amnestied Stoudemire, signed CP3 or Dwight potentially (Melo would have recruited Paul hard.) Added MWP and Udrih, signed Mozgov back, Martin, maybe JR Smith, Prigioni, etc.

you are not going to win a title or advance in the playoffs with carmelo.. I mean what is your goal? if it is to build a winner, starting with carmelo as your centerpiece and max contract is not the way to do it...

I also find it amazing how you come up with scenarios of us signing cp3 or dwight as long as you have your precious carmelo.. but these same things were said and could have happened had we not traded for carmelo and the team would have still been better as gallo, chandler, moz and all of our picks is a lot better option than having THJ and shumpert.... and guess what we could of still had them and no carmelo... again, all of this could have been accomplished and much more had we not traded for carmelo.. IT could have been cp3 playing with amare...

and guess what if you wanted Cp3 to play with carmelo we would of had to trade for cp3 he didn't go to LA as a free agent and guess what, you needed picks to facilitate such a trade, and again we traded those picks to get carmelo... LOL... dead end again..

Cp3 wasn't coming here to play with broke down amare lol. He would have come here to play with his buddy Melo and that's it. No one in this organization but Melo was convincing him to come here.

again you can't dip in and out of hindsight world when you want... Knicks would have had to trade for Cp3, so we have to assume they would have gone after amare, before he broke down.. remember? are you telling me carmelo came here to play with a "broke down amare"..... LOL

And for the record, nowhere have I read where chris paul said he wanted to come here to play with carmelo.. what I did hear was he and dwight talking about going to dallas..

No one wants to play with chubby chucker...

but for your viewing pleasure.. you see, only knicks homers think everyone wants to play here and be a "running buddy" to carmelo.. rofl.. yet will ignore all other reports..

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/20791828/report-dwight-howard-chris-paul-plotted-to-play-together-for-two-years

Yahoo Sports brought in a surisingly unsurprising piece about Dwight Howard and Chris Paul, who had started scheming to play together even while under contract... as far back as 2009.

Starting in 2009, Howard and Paul began chatting regularly, trying to figure out a way to play together. Howard tried to convince Paul to join him with the Orlando Magic. Paul responded, one source said, with a question: "What will you be giving up?" While Orlando was relatively close to Paul's hometown of Winston Salem, N.C., and had advanced to the 2009 NBA Finals, Paul preferred Howard join him on the New Orleans Hornets roster. When neither Howard nor Paul seemed interested in playing for the others team, they considered looking for a common destination.

"I tried to get him to come to New Orleans," Paul told Yahoo! Sports. "It was back and forth, here and there."

Sources close to both players said Howard and Paul settled on the Dallas Mavericks as an ideal destination, knowing owner Mark Cuban had the means to clear salary-cap space for them. The Mavericks explored trades for both players, but didn't have attractive enough assets to make a deal. And while Howard and Paul could have become unrestricted free agents in the summer of 2012 by opting out of their contracts, neither exhibited the patience to make such a plan feasible.

if the knicks ever had a chance at paul, it was through trade and we traded all the picks and assets we had to get chubby 9-30 shooting chucker....

good night bro...

lol

Knicks were not getting Chris Paul with the Melo package lol you are unreal. CP3 told the world while he was drunk at Melos wedding, then shrugged it off as a joke so people stopped asking just like Melo did. What more does a guy have to do while under contract with another team? Don't believe everything you read. Melo followed amare to ny and Paul (who is very close friends with Melo, I know, why would anyone want to be friends with Melo, right? Lol) was ready to follow. This isn't even a discussion, it's common sense. Again, your judgment is very clouded with pure hate on this topic. It came out of his own mouth and you going to say something like he was joking, he thinks Melo is a fat chucker, he was only a fake friend of his, etc. You amaze me more and more each day lol.

And you haven't read where he wants to come here? Ok. I won't waste my time, just google 'Chris Paul toast' or something along those lines and use your imagination. But Like I said you will disagree with even what came out of his mouth cuz no way he wants to play with Melo no matter what he says himself right? Lol.

ok, you like to live in fantasy land.. Lets deal with reality.. where does chris paul play right now?

The clippers..

I don't care if they toasted at a party, which is odd, because chris paul said he doesn't drink, so if he was drunk he is either a liar or it was just someone reporting BS.. CP3 is where he wants to be, he was traded to LA and extended there, why did he do that, why not make plans to play with carmelo.. you know why? because he really doesn't want to.. No one wants to play with carmelo.. LOL..

reality check:

Chris paul is a clipper

The clippers are a good team

Carmelo is a knick

knicks suck

the END

Dude you are unbelievable. Now you know CP3 personally and all of his habits? lol. CP3 said he wanted to play with Melo, it came out of his own mouth, and you still don't believe him lol. What else more does a guy have to say while under contract with another team??? Did you want him to have a one-on-one interview with steven a smith live on espn? Yes, i agree that is the reality, just pointing out well before CP3 went to LA he had his eyes on NY in the same fashion Melo did. Knicks closed that door with poor decision making. If you don't believe something said by the man himself, then there is no helping you.

CP3 also said he wanted to play with dwight, I posted the link and the article where they were planning this for years.. so either that is a lie or he was treating carmelo as his side Ho....talking BS.. post the link where he said he wanted to play with carmelo.. your words mean squat because you are a homer..show me where he said I want to play with carmelo... because it is either going to prove CP3 to be a liar or a shyt talker either way, we have to then figure he is talking trash and is where he wants to be.. you lose either way homie.... I am sure you will tell me lebron wanted to play with carmelo as well, but he went to south beach because of the weather instead of denver..

CP3 is in LA, he extened there.. that is where he wants to be as far as I am concerned!!!

I'm unbelievable? you got some damn nerve.. LOL, you are sitting here telling me where chris paul wanted to play after I posted you a link.. rofl.. and on top of that CP3 never made any efforts to get here, he is where he wants to be, for christ sakes he extended in LA!!!!!!!!!!!

Anthony Confirms Paul's Toast About Playing In New York
Nov 12, 2010 8:08 AM EST

Carmelo Anthony has confirmed a New York Post report that Hornets point guard Chris Paul made a champagne toast at the Denver forward's wedding in July that called for himself, Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire to team up with the Knicks.

"Everybody was having fun. The Miami Heat was the hot topic at that point. There were a lot of players. They were just laughing and joking about it. It is what it is," Anthony said.

"It wasn't set up. It wasn't staged. It was just everybody having a good time laughing and joking."

Anthony denied a Post report he told Spike Lee, who attended the wedding, the Knicks are his first choice.

He added of Denver's extension, "It's still there. My options are open."

-----------------------------

It was said by Paul and confirmed by Melo before he was even a Knick. You don't like this one, just google it and you will find it all over. I'm not wasting anymore time on this. You will believe what you want to believe no matter what is said right in front of your face. Yes he is in LA, the door closed in NY and he moved on. We screwed up. I am not typically one to buy into a lot of media hype, such as the report you posted. It may be true, but its speculation. This however came out of his mouth. Again, i know you think it was either a lie, sarcasm, a joke making fun of Melo at his own wedding, whatever your heart desires. I am done feeding into your conspiracy theories lol.

rofl.. i give you a direct quote from chris paul. You give me Drunk quotes from carmelo, having nothing to do with Paul saying he wanted to play with carmelo.... haha.. you know what, I did look it up, and found nothing with paul saying he wanted to play with carmelo.. Yet you still insisted on perpetuating these myths..

I think this is when I yell

"CHECKMATE"

HAHA

Drunk quotes from Melo? Dude you are in your own world. Enjoy it!!! And if you found nothing where CP3 said he wanted to team up with Amare and Melo to form his own Big 3, might want to learn how to better use the google machine lol. You found a quote from 2009, great, i won't argue it. But your stubborn ways are on blast, you are the only person in the world that doesn't see what chris paul said and what Melo confirmed. Have fun with your imaginary game of chess, whatever makes you sleep well at night. You lose, Peace.

OHHHHHH so now it is team up with amare and melo.. rofl.. I don't have to find shyt. I never quoted paul as saying that, YOU did... I did provide the link and quote where he said he wanted to play with dwight, direct quotes...

again checkmate

just admit you have no clue here, you are talking with no evidence.. again, why must I find the quote? I NEVER SAID CHRIS PAUL SAID HE WANTED TO PLAY WITH CARMELO.. IN FACT I DON'T BELIEVE HE DOES AS I STATED...

YOU SAID IT... YOU FIND IT OR STOP USING THAT TO DEFEND YOUR WEAK ARGUMENT!!

http://nypost.com/2010/07/12/paul-toasts-knicks-future-dream-team-with-stoudemire-anthony/

Here is one of many links. Happy? I won't provide you the follow up link to Melo confirming it, i know anything he says is a lie to you. Don't bother responding because i know you will find something wrong with it. Again, he was under contract with another team, still said it according to many people that heard it with their own ears, then it was confirmed by Melo. It was played off by everyone involved because (i need to remind you of this again) they were both under contract with other teams. But they didn't fool anyone except you apparently. There no are reports to suggest he does not want to play with Melo or secretly hates him and thinks he's a chubby chucker like you suggest. If you can find something that argues against this, please provide.

rofl!!!!! this is what you bring me? haha, dude this is not a quote saying he wanted to come to NY to play with carmelo. I gave you a direct quote from paul, saying exactly that he wanted to play with dwight and they even considered Dallas...

sorry, you fail again.. I am trying to let you off the hook easy, but you keep posting.. smh

And where did Paul say he considered Dallas? Again, you will never see a direct quote from a player under contract stating he wants to play on another team. But the toast occurred, everyone knew they were referring to ny, and everyone knew the 3 players involved were Paul, Melo, and amare. No I never said Paul wanted to come to ny to play with Melo, Melo wasn't here yet. I said Paul suggested they form their own big 3 (which means playing on the same team) and ny was clearly the place they were referring to (as opposed to Denver or New Orleans). Yet you still deny it lol. You are in a world by yourself on this one dude, sorry to say.

The toast happened!!! They wanted to play together. Just let it go dude before people chime in and roast you on this one.

Unlike you, I posted the article with the actual quote.... you can live in fantasy land with the "toast" LOL...just look at you, like a heartbroken fan.... "the toast happened".. yea so did chris paul to the clippers and him extending.. meanwhile we got ole fat ass and a 8-17 record... chris paul extending in LA pretty much said Fck carmelo.. LOL

I don't think it was a fk Melo moment... he looked out what was best for him and Grunwald acquiring Chandler effectively made the odds of Paul coming here a cap impossibility

I completely agree. The Melo trade was not the root cause. Everything that followed was. The Melo trade was a normal trade in which you give up a lot to get a perennial all-star player (i will avoid the word 'star' for sake of argument.) Better heartbroken then miserable. I believe Paul would have come here if we amnestied Amare and had cap space. The quote "we will form our own big 3" was said by Paul, not sure why you are disputing it. Does it need to be a sit-down interview with yahoo to count as a quote? But i can see you are backtracking now, so i will not elaborate.

and guess what if you wanted Cp3 to play with carmelo we would of had to trade for cp3 he didn't go to LA as a free agent and guess what, you needed picks to facilitate such a trade, and again we traded those picks to get carmelo... LOL... dead end again..

LOL

I don't think it was a fk Melo moment... he looked out what was best for him and Grunwald acquiring Chandler effectively made the odds of Paul coming here a cap impossibility

not a direct "F" you but pretty much like, hey we are cool off the court, the olympics were fun, but I am where I rather be right now.. I think there is such a huge myth, perpetuated by Knicks fans of course, that everyone wants to come play with carmelo.. I think the opposite is true, they run from playing with him and playing in NY at this point...

and here is the kicker... carmelo is just to stupid and greedy to realize this.. If there were ever any real talks about paul wanting to play with him, carmelo could have come to NY as a free agent, preserving the knicks young talent and picks as trade bait... but again, I don't think Paul ever hinted with any level of seriousness that he wanted to play with carmelo... if so, then carmelo is his own worst enemy by forcing his way here the way he did... either way, be careful what you ask for....

8-17 smh

Exactly going back to my original point. Paul basically told the world he wanted to play here with Amare and Melo (implied it as best as possible while under contract with another team), and NY management made it impossible for that to happen. It may have been impossible to get all 3 anyways, but it was a mismanaged situation to close that door. But CP3 made it very clear just as Melo did. That is all.

and guess what if you wanted Cp3 to play with carmelo we would of had to trade for cp3 he didn't go to LA as a free agent and guess what, you needed picks to facilitate such a trade, and again we traded those picks to get carmelo... LOL... dead end again..

That is all.

too much effort to find your original point - damn that's a back-and-forth

I don't agree with the Melo being the root cause, I think other actions could have been taken to bring in appropriate personnel, but if you want to look at it as the start of bad decisions that is fair.

Yeah i agree it got extensive. Original point was feeling the issue with this team wasn't losing assets in the melo trade, it was everything that followed. We had assets (Fields, Douglas, later Shumpert, later Lin, etc), we had flexibility. We destroyed flexibility by amnestying Billups to make room for Chandler (great player, but poor timing.) We could have stayed flexible with Melo on the team leaving the possibility to use an amnesty on amare or another player to free up space down the road. CP3 was a possibility up to that point. The new Big 3 may not have been, but we could have amnestied Amare to make ourselves a player for CP3, Dwight, etc. Then it turned into an argument of the validity of the toast, what it meant, how i believe it was obvious CP3 would be open to playing alongside Melo under different circumstances (why make that toast if he clearly dislikes Melo? unless you don't believe it occured?), etc. But it is what it is. This team could look a lot different right now if they didn't jump the gun on the billips/chandler thing, and salvaged some value for the wasted assets of Fields and Lin.

So the toast was not said by Paul? That was not a quote? What am i missing here? Please explain.

“We’ll form our own Big 3,” Paul said of possibly joining forces with Amar’e Stoudemire and Anthony - who would be traded to the Knicks seven months later - in New York.

Again, why isn't this a quote from Paul?

The toast was in jest... like " hey we can form our own Big 3" grow up man, it was a fun event and they were reacting to the moment.. nothing there that said chris paul stated, I want to come and play in NY with carmelo.. Yet I posted where he and dwight both said and quoted they were trying to hook up and play..

please stop... this shows how desperate this fan base is...

So in order for it to be believable Paul has to say "we will form our own big 3, Melo and I will be coming to play in NY soon, don't worry knicks fans" even though they are both under contract with other teams. Most people can read between the lines. But got it, you win lol.

nah, only homers read between the lines and come up with things that were never said..

I don't take too serious what guys say when liquored up, at parties getting caught up in the moment.... rational thinking fans should feel the same way..

The fact that you are holding on to that "toast" is hilarious.. that might be your new knickname... "toast"..lol

Lol let's pick and choose what quotes to believe and what ones not to. I thought you said he didn't drink? Lol. Contradict yourself much? First you say provide a link, then you say he doesn't drink, then you say he was all liquored up so the quote was invalid. Then you say he meant the opposite of what was said. You are dancing around like you are at a club, just let it go, dude, you are getting burnt like the toast Chris Paul made to play with your beloved Melo rofl.

You said provide a direct quote and I did. He said what he said. It did happen no matter what you believe. My turn. Checkmate ohh lol.

let me stop you from making yourself look even worse.. I said chris paul said he didn't drink, so if he was out toasting, I am not sure what to believe.. but let me post what I said..

I don't care if they toasted at a party, which is odd, because chris paul said he doesn't drink, so if he was drunk he is either a liar or it was just someone reporting BS.

LOL... what point are you trying to make? you are beaten down so much you are trying so hard to one up me.. rofl.... I basically said, paul said he doesn't drink... so I found it odd they were toasting, but hey guys can make exceptions I guess.... so where am I contradicting myself? dude you are lost.. just quit. honestly, save yourself...

I don't have to prove your point. you said he wanted to play with carmelo.. i have yet to find any Cp3 quotes and neither have you!!

boing.....!!

dude you are a homer, and present a weak ass argument. That is just the truth, believe me, agreeing with swish does nothing to make you look better... stop looking for a helping hand... not a good look.
