As it should be easer for Knicks supporters to let go of the past and look forward to a new season. Reading the absolute negativism of crybabies like Mitch Lawrence who swears the Knicks will lose is the height of journalism fakery.

No way does woody improve, last playoffs proved he is same coach as in Atlanta- Ironwilgiroud

Really?

The Knicks have no leaders, compelling players, followable basketball story lines or likeable dudes. Forget Beno Uhrih, Isaiah Thomas is lurking behind every corner. It is all too much.

Foosballknick is correct. "All of the threads all summer long have finally worn me down and convinced me to contact the league office and petition that the Knicks not be allowed to even play this year out of pure ineptitude and evil that the Knicks emanate which will only cause the Knick fan base to eventually internally combust and will also only serve to rub off negatively on other teams."

Sheesh

I wonder if this thread will turn out better than "Everyone knows the Knicks are making the playoffs...so what's the problem" in which we went on to win 23 games. At which point you disappeared for 95% of the season and never owned up to your attacks of other forum members who simply didn't think the roster was that good.

It's called a thread STARTER JamesKPolk. The objective is to inspire an entertaining conversation. Yes?

Last we checked, the Knicks had 13 new faces on the training camp roster. That is a recipe for new relationships forged on the team charter, new locker room conversations and new combinations on the basketball court. Prigioni and Uhrih will change Raymond Felton. Melo will change Bargnani.. and Jeremy Tyler will be changed by Ron World Peace and Kenyon Martin. If we are lucky, Mike Woodson's deliberate public poke will change Cole Aldrich.

Gotta admit, that was fun, but the assessment is highly unlikely, and what exactly would anyone want changing?

Felton is the only pg who can get into the lane and finish, and all three are suspect defensively...even Pablo when he's overaggressive racking up fouls.

Udrich may very well be the steadier playmaker, but cant guard anyone, and only plays 3/4 of the court on offense.

Melo has already said he ISN'T changing Bargnani...that's Woodson's job anyway.

Tyler isnt a lock to even make the team.

Not even sure whats the purpose of the "13 new faces" post, if the team is doing anything constructive in practice it should be displayed on the court.

Early on it's hard to tell, the team doesnt defend at all and way too much freelancing.

bonn1997 - does Jessica Alba in a thong make the community a better place?

Knickscity - last time you played a pickup game, did you pay any attention to the other four dudes, or was your game so rock steady that it was the same, no matter who your running buddies were? just curious.

In the same manner a pebble can cause a ripple that turns into a wave, this hoops theory contends that just one new player in the rotation can make a difference.

Jessica is awesome, she makes most male dominated places a better place.

When I play pickup, and I will add, not sure what this has to do with the convo as it's not the same, I certainly look to the other guys on the court with me, mainly because I want them to play with me the next time..nobody likes a ball hog.

But make no mistake I could dominate the game, I'm pretty good on the court.

Unlike a pebble hitting the water, this team needs it's ripple to be constant, an obvious thats it's there.

What happens to the pebble after it hits the water? We dont need the same out of Bargnani, or any player for that matter.

I wonder if the Knicks had won last night instead of looking like garbage without a plan would there be more posts.

I suspect yes.

Yes, it's preseason, but it's also ok to comment on what you see.

So far, no one is shining.

The Answer Man Is Pretty Good Off The Court

Dominate like Melo?

knickscity - your game swag is especially relevant. For example, are you claiming that your game decisions are the same, no matter who the other four (or two) guys are?

If your Saturday squad needs rebounding, do you pull back on your shot attempts?

If the two other guys on your Sunday pickup squad can score, do you pout if they hog the ball?

I dont play with ball hogs, which is why I'm not getting why the comparison is made.

The guys I play with can all play, but when someone is hot, myself and my guys are willing feed that dude...it's his day at that time and we let him have it.

And rebounding the ball is essential, we call each other out constantly if we had position and missed the rebound.

knickscity - nice summary. Does your game change when you are playing with guys who are not as accomplished?

Or do you play the same way every game, no matter who you are teamed with?

He can answer for himself. However, unless they're players who can't even hit open layups, I would hope he would try to get high % shots for them before taking contested off-balance shots for himself.
Notice how KD played with guys collectively shooting below 40% in the 2nd round of the playoffs but he still averaged seven assists a game?

I just answered this, we can all play.

But if forced to play with lesser skilled guy, I'd look for what they can do well, and max out that.

still dont see what this has to do with the Knicks though.

Yup, and this was from a guy who isnt a natural playmaker.

...And averaged 4 turnovers, shot below 45% and got bumped in the 2nd round. Whats the point? I can find series where Melo put up great individual numbers and his team still got knocked out of the playoffs as well....

No, you can't find series where Melo averaged 7 assists a game. And actually an assist:to ratio of almost 2 to 1 (7:4) is excellent for a forward and 45% from the field would be one of the best playoff series of Melo's career.

Bonn..It's a silly comparison given that OKC used Durant as a point forward in a lot of cases after Westbrook went down...His career average prior to that was over 2.5 assist per game...Knicks play more of a half court style that results is a lot of ISO with Melo, which results in less assist..OKC is more of an uptempto offense...It's like Chris Duhon putting out 22 assist in MDA's offense..Without looking at the numbers, Durant is still taking 22/25 shots per game in that series...They lost to Memphis 4-1 I believe...But yeah, great numbers by Durant if that matters...

How do you explain Durants assists going up when he played WITH WESTBROOK before injury?

The turnovers are overrated....OKC was the #1 o-rated team in the entire league last year even though they had over 300 more turnovers than the Knicks, and lead the league in turnovers.

If Westbrook isnt a pg, then 90% of the pg's in the league arent.

The point though is Durants assists went up and he isnt a NATURAL playmaker, and their team lead the league in ortg despite a ton of turnovers.
