Bob Pettit, the Hall of Fame forward who played for Holzman as a rookie with the Milwaukee Hawks, recalled a halftime talk. ''He pulled out his wallet and showed us a picture of his young daughter,'' Pettit said.
''Red said: 'Isn't she pretty? Well, you guys are going to kill her if you keep playing this way. I'll get fired and I won't be able to feed her.' As I recall, we played a much better second half.''
