That was not Amare. Cant blame him for everything bad on defense lol

It was a defensive switch that he missed the recovery

Looking at play it looked like JR should have rotated to Pierce which he missed. Didn't think that was Amare's rotation.

Well...good and bad.
Glad we're in front, however not exactly too happy. Our incredibile 3point shooting is the only thing that's kept us in the game.

I love Stoudemire's offensive ability and I understand he's just got back into the swing of things, but still... 0 boards during the first half from the PF position? inexcusable. This is now Melo's team (offensive leader wise) and Stoudemire must find his role ala rebounding strong off the glass, giving effort on defense, and taking the open shots/drives as they come. 20+ points per game from Amar'e is not needed, but defensive effort and production off the glass (rebounds) are.

It's crazy because it feels like a defensive battle but score is 56 to 53..we need to force Pierce to dribble..can't give up those 3s.

either of them could have rotated but none of them did because of lack of communication.

I'd be satisfied if he can just get his offense back. Not expecting much on D. I do want to see effort though.

Holy crap that would be a wet dream.

1 year of solid offense and I take it.

Me too. At least a reliable jumper again.

yup. pretty to watch

I was a fan of his since his HS days, i cursed the knicks when we didn't draft him... and of course the dreaded dice trade.... I followed amare the day he stepped in phoenix... I hated that he wasn't in a knicks uniform.. we finally get him and he comes in playing all world... then the injuries... man that just sucks!!!!!!!!!!

I hope he can regain most of the amare of old, although that may be wishful thinking.... I always felt that this team would be better run through him, but that is another topic and I don't want to derail.. just happy to see him back..

I was being sarcastic Sorry!

He was a great player out of high school and I wanted him too.

However, even you should be able to admit that he has been a big FAIL here and it was an awful signing.

Does not mean that he is not talented and that he is not unselfish. He is just brittle.

he has been a fail due to injuries not effort and ability, but we knew his history when we got him.... It was an ok signing that turned out bad so far..

It was a fail due to injuries. Effort? Defense or Offense?

How was it ok? It was horrible!

Phx the only other offer at 3 years? C'mon be fair. This will go down as one of the worst signings in a while.

Thank heaven that they couldn't give hive 8 years.

amare gave effort and played with heart.. he had his flaws no doubt, but he came to NY and gave them life again.. he along with the young kids did a very good job.. they were fun to watch, and amare was playing some of the best ball of his career early on..

I fully expect Carmelo to get hot in the 2nd half.
What I'm worried honestly is the defense. It's not for lack of effort, it just seems like they're not exactly playing smart defense and I'm not overly confident of the Knicks being able to keep the Celtics under 100 points.

Well we now know he wouldnt have been able to sustain that so its a good thing theres others around to pick up the slack

We are plus 5 on rebounding. Not sure if he has hurt us on the boards. His defensive effort is definitely there. In fact he might be over doing it. Chandler has had some halfs where he has had zero bounds in more minutes. Also he is actually better at blocking and changing shots at the rim. He's effected a couple of missed layups by the Celtics tonight already. He is definitely not the best defender but I see the effort. Sort of like when Melo first started really showing effort on defense. In time with this effort you will see some tangible results.

Very True..JR rotating to him seemed like the easier and smarter move though. Hopefully they'll talk more in the future on that.

I'd rather have Rondo playing defense versus Bradley. Good lord that guy is stuck on our guards like glue. Rondo plays lazy defense. goes for steals, plays free safetly, roams.

I think Stat is playing too close because he's afraid of getting burned on a quick first step and overcompensating.

I fully agree 100%. Especially at home inside of MSG. I fully expect us to blow Boston out of the waters here in the 2nd half, but if not; I'll settle for a 1 point victory. I do agree, a loss against the Celtics without Rondo would be hard to swallow moving forward.

Yeah but he would have burned Kidd/Prigs on offense and broke everything down from there

Good half for the Knicks overall. Bradley is a pest on D. Awesome to see Kidd do so many things. After JR got doubleteamed by Avery Bradley and the sideline while trying to bring the ball up, he almost turned it over. We got it back and Kidd knew exactly how much time he had to cross the halfcourt.

Also Doc Rivers needs to go to the rule book before arguing with officials. When Chandler Taps out a ball which results in our possession :

a. It goes directly into the teammate's hands. In this case he had possession and he gets credited with the rebound.

b. A teammate has to recover the ball because it did not come directly at him. In this case Chandler did not have possession and he does not get credit for the rebound.

When he tapped it into the backcourt option b. took place. Thats why Kidd was able to recover it.

Everything you have ever wanted is on the other side of fear- George Adair

So I guess when you sign someone (finally can) to a max multi year contract, you are satisfied with playing healthy and with effort and with relevance for 10 percent of it?

Well I'm not! Think with your head not with your heart.

Its like when you remember an 16 year old hottie from high school and she won't go near you. Now you meet this oldie at a singles weekend in the catskills and she is still the wet dream that you remember and the pain of her rejections from high school. She winks at you and you melt.
