Dwight jsut asked even today that the whole offense should just play through him, implying other people shouldn't even take shots. This for a guy who shoots 50% from the FT line or less. This is what we should trade Melo for?

not only that, but we have a center who has a ring already. and is just as good defensively and a great leader.

No more trades please. Let's just let the team gel, build chemistry. It will take sometime, no more "quick fixes". Number 1 goal is to make the playoffs, number 2 is not to get swept. I will consider that a success this year.

Chandler and Melo for Howard.. no thanks. The combo of Chandler and Melo is better than the combo of Howard and Hedo Turkoglu. Why make our team worse?
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Howard, Turk, and garbage is enough to get a team to 55 wins a year. Are Melo and Chandler enough to do that?

Enough with the silly trades areddy. The NYKnicks FINALLY have some cohesion and the only thing to offer is to tear it down again?

rvwink wrote:"How much more egotistical can a player get than dismantling a team you're going to sign with anyway? How come no one is willing to comment on this fact?!"

Melo had just witnessed how Lebron became hated in Cleveland. He liked his time in Denver, and wanted to leave on good terms with both the fans and the management. He didn't want to have to go back to play in Denver and have all of his former fans boo him.

I don't see that as a egotistical behavior. He likely told his agent about his concerns and listened to them when they came up with a plan to accomplish what he wanted. I don't see how you can blame Melo for Dolan's stupidity. The Knicks team had to get rid of salaries to sign Melo. It turned into being "dismantled" because of the what Dolan agreed to do, not because of what Melo did.

Now that I have answered your question, I would like to answer a question you didn't ask. Your idea of trading Melo because he hasn't worked out for the Knicks in the past, is not first rate thinking. Just because he didn't work out previously, doesn't mean Melo will never work out. Waiting to see how Amare and Melo work out now that we have an excellent point guard on the team is not rocket science. Btw, did you know that Melo's spokesperson put out a story that said that Melo was lobbying MDA to give Lin playing time?

You actually think MElo did this as a favor to Denver? LOL, no chance. Denver had enough depth without him. There is not one shred of evidence to support the crazy hypothesis of what is being put out here. Look, I think we can succeed with MElo and this lineup (now, with Lin) but I can see him pretty clearly, both in interviews and on the court. That guy is about "ME" it's even in his name. People are what they are, we don't separate them into two different personalities - one at work and one at home. e.g. - If you are an aggressive person at work you can't be a soft loving one at home. You can try to act it, but it just doesn't work like that.

I agree as in the quote above that it was really selfish to help dismantle the team here when all he had to do was say the right things, play it low key and come as a FA. Luckily we were able to get some talent, it seems. It wasn't easy, we again were great in the draft and then were able to get Lin. But all of this was chancy at the time.

He did this for the money. If he wanted to really do something for the team he should have accepted less money to play here like the big 3 did in Miami. Then we would have had more free money for other players.

This is just absolutely crazy what is being said now here but if it makes you feel better about him then go on believing it. Great thing about belief systems.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. Albert Einstein

Our core has not shown cohesion. Jared Jeffries and other role players (who were not involved in the trade proposal) have shown cohesion.

The Peoples Captain is Tyson Chandler. Cohesion on defense starts with him because of his experience as a champion. Jeffries is a good defender. So is Shumpert, who is borderline great on d. Landry Fields can hold his own. Lin shows the ability to stay between his man and the hoop.

On offense, the cohesion with Lin (or hopefully, Baron Davis) is a work in progress. The ball movement will continue with Carmelo where Bill Walker used to be. To diss the vets and Lin working together, before they have played ONE game together, is just a temper tantrum.

What else can it be?

Isn't this Dwight Howard lunacy the very definition of starphucking? Or is it the good kind of starphucking versus the bad kind? I can never get those two sorted out.

I didn't make any statement about what will happen in the future. I merely did not think your description of the past was accurate (that we should keep Melo and Chandler because our team has shown cohesion).

I've never seen a definition of the term. However, I use it to refer to acquiring players who are great *in name only*

some you donkeys need to do some reading and close your mouth

From Alan Hahn (disclaimer: the article posted in this thread contains real info and actual quotes from players)

Melo is still out with a groin strain, but could return to the lineup later this week, perhaps by Friday's game against the New Orleans Hornets. But the turnaround of the Knicks in his absence has not been lost on the all-star forward. Actually, what few people know is he's one of the reasons why Lin got that chance against the Nets. Melo was one of the voices that encouraged D'Antoni to give the unknown, undrafted point guard more minutes.

And now people expect him to destroy what he helped create? Lin, as Carmelo said, is "thriving" in "the system that we're running" and that's undeniable. It should be pointed out here that Melo's highest scoring season came while playing with Andre Miller, a traditional point guard, and Allen Iverson, a ball-dominant scoring guard. Not to mention that with the ball in Lin's hands, the pressure is now off Melo to be a facilitator and now he can focus on what he does best: scoring.

Melo's play on the court is what will make critics of his ability to fit with teammates (including Lin) shut their mouths. If he helps the team win lots of games, criticism will go away. Until then, it's well-earned.

well nothing shuts your mouth, so there's just another thing that remains to be seen I guess. Hey, with Lin running the show I thought anything was possible but this last task appears too monumental even for his skills.

You describe Melo in a way more fit for Marbury. All Melo has ever done in the NBA is play on winning teams. All of them. Winning. You would describe him as some malcontent cancer. Good job. I wonder if while the Knicks are working their way up the playoff seeding chart if you will still subject us to this drivel. Pretty sure we all already know

He's won 2 playoff series in eight years. You can't be serious.

Shut my mouth? You word things in a quite abrasive way for a guy who complained about my bringing up our season predictions earlier and calls me "snotty".

It would be foolish to trade Melo right now. You have to see what he can do with Lin at the helm. I for one am very excited to see Melo play off Lin. I see Melo doing things that Adrian Dantley and Mark Aguirre used to do back in the days with Detroit with Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars.

Speaking of Dantley. Melo really do remind me a lot of Dantley's game.

wow, dumbest thread I've seen in a long time. One of the reasons he's been a ball stopper is that coach wants to make a facilitator out of him. The guy was successful with 2ball dominant guards in the past...Chauncy and Iverson; he'll have no problem meshing.

Knick fans, over value players on other teams while undervaluing their own players. I'm not sure what to make of "Today's' fans

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

You said help his team win lots of games. Isn't that what he did in Denver?? Now its win lots of playoff games. Oh. You were probably one of many who used to bash Ewing. How many championships did he win? He was a great player. Did he have faults? Sure but his biggest problem was he never had a great 2nd player on his team. Was that his fault? Every day its the same crap out of your mouth. Melo finally has a PG to play with. When they win I am sure you will complain about something else. Are you this miserable in your everyday life?

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate
Please God trade Melo now!!
