How many times have we watched him give free lay ups and dunks. It freaking retarded. Amare is the weakest link on defense on this team. I've seen Melo play better Defense. I've seen him atleast challenge more shots and attempt to improve. Amare has not showed improvement on defense. He blocked 2 per game last season. This season he is averaging .6 blocks a game. He gets taken off the dribble all the time. He has turn the ball over 5 times this game.

Baron came here because he is still getting paid by Cleveland but he is old and has maybe one good year of 12/7 in him. Steve Nash is 38 year old man!!!!! We are not going to win anything with Amare on this team holding us back because he is proving to be the weakest piece. He is holding back this team. He is the ball stopper he can't drive anymore he always loses the ball or gets blocked.

Sadly I been holding out hope that Amare would get it together but he is the same guy he was last year. Only this year he doesnt have Wilson Chandler, Gallinari, and Felton picking up the scoring slack.

The biggest difference is now Amare is being guarded by PF's so he cant just blow by the man guarding him.

I wouldn't give Amare away but I'd trade him for a young PG and/or a PF and SG package.

Probably could get Stephen Curry and maybe Thompson for Amare but who knows. Curry has bad ankle apparently. I think Amare stil has plenty of value to small market teams.

I'd like to see what Amare, Melo and a PG can do together with Chandler, but I am also inclined to agree with trading Amare for the right package. Dude just doesn't rebound, box out, play defense all the time, and that's inexcusable.

Can't believe I agree

I like STAT, but I'm convinced his rebounding effort is karma for all the complaints about David Lee.

He'll be ok though. PG is key though...Amar'e is one of the best (if not the best) pick and roll finishers in the game, and we're not running the P&R for him at all. Baron coming back is giving us back 2 positions...

its not all Amare's fault but we have to pick one of our 3 to ship out if we are looking for a lot of talent.
As great as Melo is, he isn't worth what we gave up. Amare could have worked if we kept our team and added to that roster.
I keep bringing this up because we were in the right direction, till Dolan stepped in and traded for Melo.
We can't add the talent we need when 3 players are eating up all our cap like that. Amare and Melo are both not worthy together.
We are limited on our moves, with the 3 exemptions to use.
Everyone points figures at Amare, Fields, Melo, Iman, Tyson Chandler, TD, or Bibby, when it isn't their fault.
Its all because of what we gave up for Melo...

Amare, the Knicks, and Dantoni's system, needs a PG that has the respect and balls to facilitate.
Instead of letting Melo and Amare go ISO plays whenever they want to, run the PnR, and direct the team of what to do.

Fields is not a SG, has no handle, and can not penetrate. He stands out at the 3point line, pump fakes all the time but no one is even falling for it.
He is not a shooting or driving threat, he is just letting his guy playing him half ass, and its enough to contain him.
I have said this in the summer while many felt he was the worthy of the starting SG and said he was doubted and Walsh found a gem. Blah blah blah...
Fields benefited from Felton's penetration, Gallo and Wilson Chandler's games, the defense focused on Amare, and with ball movement/playing as the 5th option.

I was hoping to trade Amare to the Celtics for Ray Allan/KG, but if we continue to play this way, Amare's value will not even be worth the risk with his uninsured contract...
Again for all the people that supported the Melo trade, you are all wrong...
The amnesty helped us our with Chandler and Baron Davis already, yet its still not enough...
Tyson Chandler added to our pre Melo trade is exactly what we needed.
We also would be in discussions of adding Cp3/Deron as well....

The bad news: this team on the court may have trouble beating my town rec league squad.

The good news: Carmelo Anthony just became the front-runner for MVP,

Amare HAS been really disappointing this season. He seems to have lost his motivation and for all the tough talk je just doesn't try very hard especially on defense. He just stands around on defense or is out in the perimeter hopelessly mismatched against quick guards.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I blasted you before for the trade but it would be our saving grace. If only there was another Jim Dolan type owner we can offer Amare to. Chandler wouldn't have come. Amare doesn't play Defense. We don't need that on our team. Everyone else on this roster tries and plays better Defense than Amare.

and a lot of the reason for that is he has zero clue how to defend PnR: show and recover to his own man, he is more inclined to automatically switch when it's not remote necessary

Good God. Stop pining for the past and focus instead on our future.

The no-brainer move right now is to fire D'Antoni. I'd like to see how the team performs with Woodson at the helms and Davis running the point. Davis will make Amare look better even if the team struggles. At that point, near the deadline, we can ascertain Amare's trade value and move him for better fitting pieces if a good trade arises.

This, with a Defensive Coach sittingon the bench with him??
