He's been in the league 8 years, and he couldn't even sniff what a great center is all about. No post moves, crappy FT shooter...does this guy even have a Jumper? Olajuwon in his prime would eat this guy for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. He couldn't hold a candle to the original Superman, Shaq! Guy is just David Robinson without a jumper!

dude is a rebounding machine. Amare is more of a fantasy player. Who does Dwight play with? 23 rebounds? when was the last time amare had more than 14 rebounds I think Dwight hits that every 3 games. Dwight's defense is on level 10 while amare is a 5 at best. He's that bad on D. How many times have we seen Amare in position to make a play on a lay up or dunk and he just steps aside when Dwight challenges the shot. "But Amare" this and that. He doesn't try to contest lays or dunks cause he doesn't want to get embarrassed. When Dwight gets the ball in the paint he is hard to stop. Now Amare fumbles the ball and has zero post game. He plays like a SF with no handles.

David Lee is a fantasy player. Dwight Howard is a force.

It's true, there are some shorts in his game, but this is not so important; they said the same thing about Shaq.

Who can guard this guy? No one. Who will score on him? No one.

The guy is defensive player of the year for three years.

God I wish we could put Dwight Howard in Shaq's, Ewing's, Olajuwon's era...then you'd see how great he'd be

He's lucky to be in a center-less era where being 6'10 and 250 lbs constitutes a center..SMH

This is probably true.

But the reality is that he is in this era, and he is far ahead of any center in the game.

Agreed, just to drool and put heaps of praise on someone that's benefitting from lack a competition irritates me to the core....It's like saying the Klitschko's are the best Heavyweights of their era LOL. That's who Dwight faces every night, the David Hayes(bloated cruiserweights) every night. And he's had everything built him around him in Orlando for years. They signed tons of 3pt shooters, stretch 4s, PGs that could penetrate and shoot 3s, solid wings...the works.

Yea, I hear that. Still, it is what it is. There is no other player in the league that can put up 45/23 with four blocks. Just doesn't exist, anywhere. And for all the guys they put around him, he has never played with anyone even close to Melo's level. Hedo played out of his mind, Jameer played out of his mind, but neither of these guys are Max stars like Melo.

If a team is preparing for the Knicks, they're facing Amar'e and Melo. Strong players, no doubt. But it's a different world to prepare for Dwight and Carmelo. How do you stop this team? It's enough to bring Phil Jackson out of retirement.

No, it's why

Dwight > http://espn.go.com/nba/team/roster/_/name/ny/new-york-knicks

After the Memphis game, this is not so crazy.

If the CBA allowed it, I'd gladly give Orlando our entire roster for Dwight Howard. It would be a chance to start over and we could spend the next 8 years building around him.

By which time he would be completely useless and we would have wasted another eight years.
People are so obsessed with "building the right way" that in their minds that has long replaced winning as a goal. Everytime the team loses there are 15 new threads saying we should start over.

You can't just keep building at some point you need to show up with a product and take your lumps.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

No way. It would take a couple years to put a good team around him and we'd have that team for many years. He can carry an NBDL roster to 55 wins. We'd be very good from the beginning.

You're right, I've seen this team before. The Orlando Magic
