I already seen guys like Chandler, Lee, Nate and Balkman have more impact games. Gallo's one half performance was more impressive to tell you the truth. That Lakers SL was a bit of a joke. I'm surprise that Walker and Douglas aren't dominating these games. All these guys look like 2nd round picks. I can see Fields making the team but Rautins reminds me of Anthony Roberson from a couple of years ago. PEjr has improved his game but I would expect with his experience. With Randolph in the mix not sure if it makes sense.

I'm happy with Fields and I think that long term J Jordan--IF he works hard--can easily be a very decent player. He is very long and that move where he spin dribbled from the foul line took one step and dunked shows you the potential--not to many guys in this world can do that because of the length involved. He's clearly a lengthy 7 footer with a nice touch close in. Very raw in many other areas because of strength and knowledge of the game although he was bit more disruptive yesterday on the D.

These are picks 39+44---you have to be pleased that we two very possible nBA players there. As good as Indiana draft--not close but certainly not bad.

he grew up and played in my town. He's the laziest me first player you will ever encounter. He's had an NBA body since he was 15 and has been waiting to make his millions since then. Only problem is he hasnt worked on his basketball game.

He's the baseball eqiv to a kid who throws 99mph, but only wants to get a porsche, bang chicks and sleep late.

Unless he took a magic grow up pill he's never amounting to anything

So does every 21 yo in the world. In terms of skills--I thought he was impressive. I like how he would wait for the double team to move out--he took his time and got good shots was active rebounding big athletic body--hes an nBA rotation player right now for a championship team--he's better than what they have off the bench past Odom for a big. He's going to help them and he's going to be able to play with a &= guy most of the time which will also help. Two good picks for the Lakers

this has been his story since sophmore year in highschool. He shows tantalizing skills to go with his NBA body. Then he gets bored, is allergic to hard work, doesnt practice hard if he shows up and wonders why he isnt a star or the #1 pick in the draft.

Briggs I disagree. Look at our 2 young prospect. AR is 20 and Gallo is 21. Do you think they are dedicated to playing NBA ball and becoming better players? Do they work hard? Good teammates?

There is a reason DC was pick 80+

After Odom, there is no one else that plays the PF or C spot right now.

I dont give a F what someone did --its what they do when they get to the pros. The Lakers got a nice player there that will play--Im sure off the bench for them full time next year.

then thats piss poor scouting on your part. Poor work ethic and attitude issues dont apply? Isiah Rider and Lawrence Philips once looked great also. I will take the guy with a head on his shoulders. It matters.

Caracter's "character" problems will probably not be as much of an issue one the Lakers, a team of vets that will either smack him down or kick him in the pants to make him a contributor.

Briggs- one bit of concern, although he is a rookie- He almost had a quadruple double yesterday with his 8/8 personal fouls/turnover performance. Is he quick enough for the NBA game. Also not sure he can shoot the midrange J on a consistent basis.

He is a banger though and looks like he should stick around.

I'm still not giving up on Rautins- don't think he looks comfortable yet- but if SL was to end after these 2 games, he would not be considered for a spot on the team if not for where we selected him.

the problem i have with this briggs is that your basing it off of summer-league. wasn't sonny weems summer-league mvp last year or the year before? is he even on a roster right now? summer-league is a horrible indicator to me of one's actual talent - it's catered to the kids who play streetball.

Sonny weems actually looks like a solid NBA player --absolutely this is not the end all but I do think it gives you a reasonable first look at a player.I think ti showed why Daniel orton avg 2 points a game--and you should be able to do things --show things here because it only gets harder in the NBA. Remember last year T Douglas did not shoot well but he did show some very nice things on the D a lot of speed + he had a lot of assists. Ive seen D Charachter twice--he is easily one of the better bigs. He's very mobile active and athletic--somewhat like Glenn Davis for his size. He's proving it out there on the court--hey when you have pick 58 playing like that @ 6-9 270--you have to be thrilled--I think the Lakers get an easy A from this draft as do the Pacers.

derrick caracter SHOULD have been a much better college player, he's probably is always going to be the will and want to get better. with phil jackson, he should do well. he needs a very structured team to thrive, because if he was on the wolves he'd eat himself out of this league faster than oliver miller.

but i do agree with you about seeing certain things in summer-league.. like you said though, just not the end-all be-all. one player who i really like is devin ebanks, i been on him since last year and i'm still pissed we didn't use one of our two picks on him.. i really think he's going to surprise alot of people on the nba level - he's just so versatile and i think his ceiling is endless. another great find for the lakers.

He is with Washington, now. Played for Orlando, I think, in the Orlando SL.

Seemed to have a lot of trouble on D when I saw him, and I seem to recall that he even was poor on the perimeter, where I expected him to easily stay in front of people. He really is small.

Did not see that much of him, but I didn't start cursing the Knicks for not drafting him or bringing him in to our SL camp after I saw him in a couple of games.

Just got done watching Portland/New Orleans -- a lot of talent on display in this game on both sides...Really tuned in to watch Patty Mills. Portland's got a decision they have to make with this guy..They've got Andre Miller as their starting PG with Jerryd Bayless as the primary backup at the NBA level. All the while, Roy has the ball in his hands a majority of the time anyway..Now they added Armon Johnson who looked good tonight against NO (very steady performance in over 35 mins). Johnson actually started this game alongside Mills at the off-guard spot but later had plenty of opportunities to run the show when Mills wasn't in the game and he did a good job..They obviously like him, picking him 34th a couple of weeks ago. What's that pick say about Mills? I'm not even sure of his status -- Portland drafted this guy 55th overall last year. He's now a FA, I'm assuming restricted, although I'm not sure..If not, I'd scoop him up right now if I'm the Knicks. I'm just not sold on TD as a PG in the NBA and even with Ray Felton, I'd still look to add depth at PG if the opportunity presents itself. There might be an opportunity with Mills...

Mills successfully returned from a wrist injury he suffered while at St. Mary's and then made it back from a broken foot last year playing for Portland's SL team...A couple of setbacks for this young man but he looks like he's all the way back now, firing on all cylinders. Looked good tonight going for 18 pts. in 29 mins...Had a tremendous 1st half (14 pts.) then kinda lost his aggressiveness in the 2nd half a little bit but was still very impressive for a second straight game. I don't understand why this guy isn't more highly thought of. The whole package is there -- tremendous speed to get deep in the lane where he can dish or finish himself, quality handle, good passer and he can shoot it. There's no doubt he's a scoring point but unlike fellow scoring PG Toney Douglas, Mills looks much more comfortable and a lot less mechanical when it comes to running a team and being a playmaker..Really looked like he was giving good effort on defense tonight too (and he had his hands full with Aubrey Coleman who's a lot better player than I thought btw -- Coleman's more than a scorer - NO put the ball in his hands and although he registered only 1 assist, he ran the point surprisingly well & did a decent job of getting his and also looking for teammates). Anyway I think Mills is a steal if we could ever get him...I think he'll definitely be on the move eventually -- doesn't look like he fits there in Portland. Wilson Chandler or Chandler/TD for Fernandez/Mills is definitely a trade I'd make. Not only are the contracts better but I actually think Rudy & Mills are the superior players. I know we've been looking at Rudy for awhile now (he's another guy that doesn't appear to fit with the Blazers anymore and I think they'd be willing to move him) and where there's smoke there's usually fire..If we do wind up going after Rudy I'd look to expand the deal to include Mills too if I could swing it.

Will be trying to catch tonights 6PM ET game on MSG vs the Raptors.

If I do...I will record it and upload it.

I missed the first two games: Had some family in town and then went down to a family beach house for a couple of days for some peace and quiet.

He's been under-whelming. I think the way for him to get into the big show will be the d league unless washington just takes him--they seem to like him.

i gotta say, i am really liking what im seeing from landry fields. i think the biggest thing he's going to benefit from is the fact that he has an nba body, very good frame and he has the quickness to get by guys off the dribble and you can tell why he was a stanford guy - he's very smart out on the court, doesn't make many mistakes. i admittedly was not happy at all with drafting him because i had never heard of him and i watch a ton of college basketball but at this point, i don't know how this guy flew under the radar of so many. he definitely looks like he can step right into the rotation.

I got to say I haven't been impressed at all by this SL team. I mean this game against the Raptors is distrubing. The talent difference between the two teams is alarming. If the Raptors could actually make their FTs they would be blowing out the Knicks. It's so bad these guys are pulling out And 1 moves. It seems like the Raptors can get to any spot on the court where they want. If it wasn't for some some timely 3s by Landry this game would be unwatchable. Fields been alright in the fast break and can make a roster. Walker looks like he took a huge step back. How in the world can your defense get worse in SL? Douglas still has trouble with halfcourt systems. Dan D'Antoni is suppose to be a defensive guy too. Jordan has shown me little. Sonny Weems at it again. Man luckily you can't foul out of these games.
I don't like to play bad rookies , I like to play good rookies - Mike D'Antoni
