Um, Marbury brought this team back from a 20 point deficit on his own. The deficit is the result of Chaney's moronic coaching decisions.

Yes indeed. We could've won this game in regulation if Chaney would have made better decisions when we got in that rut in the first half. Starbury got us outta the hole in the 3rd, and other players like Allan and Penny put in solid work too. Othella was a bonus tonight.

We still lost.

FIRE CHANEY!!!

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Guys were pooped by the time OT rolled around. Seemed like Marbury, Houston, Penny played the entire 2nd half, even though Frank and Anderson played well in the first half. I can't really fault that though, because who knows if we would've come back without them in. But a couple minutes rest would've helped...

Whats going on?

Now they say Fire Chaney.
Fans are so stupid, we play a great game and as it slips away they say fire Chaney.

With another coach we would have won?
You just can't say that, we played great and in the end we are going to lose to a team that is better than us. Thats the bottom line.

Any competent coach would have won this game. The fans are right, the loss is on Chaney. He stupidly stuck with a zone defense for three quarters, despite the fact the team was falling behind by 20. He should be fired NOW.

I'm not gonna fault Chaney for shortening his rotation - I think his usual mistake is to try to play too many players.

I know we all feel Chaney sometimes takes out Deke too soon but I think this game shows where his lack of foot speed does make him hard to play against some teams. Dice did help us there as even as a shell of his former self - he was twice as fast as Deke. A guy like Camby would really help this team.

Being tired doesn't explain why Chaney didn't tell them to foul right away instead of waiting for 10 seconds. If Herb has to tell H2O what to do in game end situations then it doesn't say much for out head coach does it?

Anybody who says Chaney had nothing to do with this loss does not know anything about basketball. And it is not called help defense idiot, it is called ZONE defense. Playing fing zone against the Mavs, in whose starting 5 there are 4 threats from downtonw is something only a mentally retarded shmuck like Chaney would think of. But Chaney did somethign even worse, he played that zone w/out Deke. Notice how he did something even stupider then stupid, Chaney has outdone himself today. Chaney must go, fire him, kill him, whatever it takes.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Don't be NAIVE This is the freakin Mavs! Anybody can score on them, 4-13 on the road. We entertain now and that is why the trade was made we still will lose .

The EASTERN COFERENCE team supposed to play defense. Great "FANTASY" stat game though.

Silverfuel...i'm making no excuses for Chaney tonight. Between the zone fiasco, and the fatigue in OT...it was a disaster tonight.

We have to go 26-17 now to reach .500. Our team may not be good enough to do that even with a new coach.

I won't say moral victory but there were some good things to take away from this:

-It looks like Penny has something to add.

-Worst defensive team in the league or not. For the past couple of years the knicks would be lucky to score 120 on a High School team - so I was encouraged by the offensive production.

-It was good to see what Marbury could do when he looked to score.

True. I dont think we can do that with a new coach either. I was just trying to say that we have to get rid of this guy. Starting making positive decisions that will help us.

He took the blame in the post game conference. He looked half dead.

He took the blame? Good. That will make it easier to fire him. Or maybe he'll quit.

woah Simrud, easy there! No need for the personal attack. You're right it was the Zone defense. I got the 2 mixed up but either way we gave up a ton of 3's thanks to Chaney's stupidity.

You know the last thing I woulda expected to see was a zone against dallas. Chaney is a lost fool he is coaching everything but the game. If I look down my bench and see a choice between Othella and deke, I think it's a no brainer!!! Don nelson puts bradley in at a crucial moment! Chaney Sits and gives up that possesion. Then he calls no timeouts. Not even for a rest! He also called no set plays For houston! No one in this franchise has the discipline to win many games. I dont want to see hardaway taking more shots then anyone in the ot. This game was draining. I hope we can recover. But two things: We need a big man, a real one. And Don will take us nowhere!! He is so outmatched. Every game!! He is a .400 coach and thats what he'll keep us. To weak to be strong!!.... peace

Where was Doleac tonight? Even Sweetney got minutes. A mobile 6'11 guy who can hit open shots would've been useful tonight. Oh well. Can't expect much from a guy who plays zone vs. the Marksmen Mavericks...

First of all...playa said "The EASTERN COFERENCE team supposed to play defense." All I can say is that is so funny because when JVG was here preaching D, you wanted a running team. The 2 don't mix. You do one or the other. Running teams hardly win in the playoffs because D wins and Half court O is a NECESSITY. Again, point proven.

Secondly. I give Chaney credit for not playing Mutombo most of the time. Mutombo was too slow and he needed to be out. I think NY was -15 with him in the game tonight. I agree, however that the ZONE was too much. Dallas had a tougher time with the man to man. The way they were shooting tonight, the ZONE was the worse D he could have played!

Houston should have fouled right away. That is all coaching.

OVerall, nice effort, BUT NY NEEDS WINS not moral victories. They are 1-2 on this homestand and they needed to go 4-1. All that talk of a favorable schedule is being wasted.

Chaney is a good man, but he is hurting this team.
