you would think people would remain patient on young kids, but it seems to only hold true for the new guys we bring in on trades & usually the exact opposite when it comes to the kids we draft... everyone gets overly stoked over new blood but when it comes to draft picks we usually look for any reason to downgrade the picks... i just don't get that at all.

but we all know jordan hill sucks.

if Jordan Hill is a bust what are your thoughts on Hasheem Thabeet... do u consider him a bust already as well?

Thabeet is the definition of bust. That dude is 2 years away from being three years away from being a competent NBA center.

Houston hasn't played him yet, so it's hard to tell. But I've heard some of their fans say Rick Adelman doesn't know how to develop young guys, so...

apparently every draft board in the country, NBA scout & at least 1 GM disagreed with that estimation judging from the draft boards before draft night.

The only board that counts is this one.

Jordan needs not just playing time in season, but more importantly work in the off Season. He's got all the tools IMO, but he needs to polish them and to get much stronger. From watching him the thing that stood out was that he had energy, but it wasn't always effective. He seemed too light in the shorts to impose his will on the action. I think he can still get there, but that was the difference between him and Amare. Amare imposed his will in games and he used his athletic ability to intimidate on offense and defense. Hill isn't as aggressive yet even tho he has similar athletic ability. I really didn't want to see him go, but I fully agree with taking a chance to get so much cap space and probably replace him with a player that is already developed.

I also think it's clear that we may not have to wait as long for Sergio to bear fruit. He's much closer to being what we need at the PG position and he's cheap. I believe we'll be able to replace Hill with a player that is already there as opposed to waiting for Hill to maybe reach his potential.

considering Sergio's 3 years older & has about 230 more games & 3 more training camps worth of NBA experience i'd say it's fair to assume he's much further along in his development than Jordan Hill is.

Hill was born July 87 and Sergio June 86. Sergio has been on this level longer but it really isn't the reason Hill is so far behind. Hill just got started later. Heck Sergio was already playing against men for years as Hill was just starting to play organized ball. Sergio just has been playing organized ball much longer than Hill period. It's not only the NBA experience.

i could care less about any of that. i watch guys in college and i have a pretty good feel for how good they'll be in the pros. it's my opinion and i'm going to come on here and say it whether it disagrees or agrees with anyone - i don't really give two ****s.

Spanish Chocolate is not our STARTING PG of the future. He might be a good backup, maybe a nice 6/7th man, but not the starter we need. If we can keep him for about $2MM, then I am all for it. Just stop all this talk about him being the next Steve Nash. Also, someone get this dude in the gym over the summer before someone snaps him like a pretzel.

well why do you think i would care if my opinion is in the minority bro? do you care that your opinion about jordan hill is in the minority? i doubt it, which is exactly why i wouldn't say something like that to you. you're better than that.

what's the difference between u saying Jordan Hill sucks & telling me u think my opinion is in the distinct minority on his value as a prospect? u basically said the same thing about Hasheem Thabeet... what's the big deal if i point out that every scouting report & draft board i saw leading up to the draft had Thabeet very highly touted? why would that offend u?

because the way i take it is that you're telling me it's revisionist history on my part - which it's not. i didn't want either one of those guys and stated so many times leading up to the draft.

revisionist theory? dude, if u had said u wanted this guy but changing ur mind now, then that would apply, but i never implied that to be the case... dunno why u would take it that way... all i said was every scout & draft board had him highly touted leading up to the draft... same situation with Jordan Hill... if u were down on both those guys that's ur opinion & you're entitled to it... i'm just telling u there are a ton of basketball resources out there that have scouted both players extensively & had them highly ranked on their list of prospects... pronouncing both these guys as busts is way too early... i dunno how anyone who follows basketball can say that 22 year olds who haven't even played a full season already are a bust in the NBA... you need more than just such a limited sample of a handful of games with limited minutes to judge any prospect fairly, i don't care if you were high on them or not.

No one said he's the next Nash! You can't deny that he has a similar set of skills and plays in a similar manner to Nash. Being just as good isn't necessary. We just need him to be good period which IMO he's well on his way to being.

Tell me what you think is the reason Sergio isn't the possible Starting PG we need? Why can't he develop into our starter?
